قَدْIndeedسَمِعَhas heardاللَّهُAllahقَوْلَthe statement ofالَّتِيthe one whoتُجَادِلُكَargues with youفِيconcerningزَوْجِهَاher husband
Indeed, Allah has heard the statement of the one who argues with you concerning her husband.
يَاOأَيُّهَاyouالنَّبِيُّProphetلِمَwhy doتُحَرِّمُyou forbidمَاwhatأَحَلَّhas made lawfulاللَّهُAllahلَكَfor you
O Prophet, why do you forbid what Allah has made lawful for you?
اخْتِيَارُThe selection ofطَرِيقِthe method ofالْقَصَائِدِpoemsفِيatمُبْتَدَأِthe beginning ofبَعْضِsomeالسُّورِSurahs
The selection of the method of poetry at the beginning of some Surahs:
وَلَمَّاAnd whenأَنَّthatأَبْرَزَmanifestation ofفَصَاحَةَeloquence ofالْعَرَبِthe Arabs
And when the manifestation of the eloquence of the Arabs
وَقُدْرَتَهُمُand their abilityالْبَيَانِيَّةَrhetoricalكَانَتْwasتَتَجَلَّىmanifestedفِيinالْقَصَائِدِpoems
and their rhetorical ability was manifested in poems,
وَكَانَand it wasبَدْءُthe beginning ofالْقَصَائِدِpoemsبِالتَّشْبِيبِwith Tashbeeb (love prelude)بِذِكْرِby mentioningالْمَوَاضِعِthe placesالْعَجِيبَةِwondrous
and the beginning of poems with Tashbeeb by mentioning wondrous places
وَالْوَقَائِعِand eventsالْهَائِلَةِtremendousهُوَisمِنْfromعَادَاتِهِمُtheir customsالْقَدِيمَةِold
and tremendous events is from their old customs
وَأُسْلُوبِهِمُand their styleالْمَعْرُوفِknownفَقَدِthusاخْتَارَhas chosenالْقُرْآنُthe QuranالْكَرِيمُNobleهَذَاthisالْأُسْلُوبَstyleفِيinبَعْضِsomeالسُّورِSurahs
and their known style, thus the Noble Quran has chosen this style in some Surahs
كَمَاasفِيinقَوْلِهِHis statementتَعَالَىExalted is He
as in His statement - Exalted is He -
وَالصَّافَّاتِBy those lined upصَفًّاin rowsفَالزَّاجِرَاتِAnd those that driveزَجْرًاawayفَالتَّالِيَاتِAnd those that reciteذِكْرًاa message
By those lined up in rows, and those that drive away, and those that recite a message.
وَالذَّارِيَاتِBy those scatteringذَرْوًاdispersingفَالْحَامِلَاتِAnd those bearingوِقْرًاa load
By those scattering dispersing, and those bearing a load.
إِذَاWhenالشَّمْسُthe sunكُوِّرَتْis wrapped upوَإِذَاand whenالنُّجُومُthe starsانْكَدَرَتْfall scattering
When the sun is wrapped up, and when the stars fall scattering.
أُسْلُوبُThe style ofخَوَاتِمِconclusions ofالسُّورِSurahs
The style of conclusions of Surahs:
وَكَمَاAnd just asأَنَّthatالسَّلَاطِينَrulersيَخْتِمُونَconcludeرَسَائِلَهُمْtheir lettersوَفَرَامِينَهُمْand their firmans
And just as rulers conclude their letters and their firmans
بِجَوَامِعِwith comprehensiveالْكَلِمِwordsوَنَوَادِرِand rareالْوَصَايَاpreceptsعَلَىuponالتَّمَسُّكِadhering toبِالْأَوَامِرِthe commandsالْمَذْكُورَةِmentioned
with comprehensive words and rare precepts upon adhering to the mentioned commands,
وَالتَّهْدِيدِand the threatلِكُلِّto everyمَنْone whoيُخَالِفُهَاdisobeys themأَوْorيَخْرُجُdeviatesعَنْهَاfrom them
and the threat to every one who disobeys them or deviates from them,
كَذَلِكَlikewiseاللَّهُAllahتَبَارَكَBlessed isوَتَعَالَىand Exaltedخَتَمَconcludedأَوَاخِرَthe endings ofالسُّورِSurahs
likewise Allah, Blessed and Exalted, concluded the endings of Surahs
بِجَوَامِعِwith comprehensiveالْكَلِمِwordsوَمَنَابِعِand sources ofالْحِكَمِwisdomوَالتَّأْكِيدِand eloquentالْبَلِيغِemphasisوَالتَّهْدِيدِand greatالْعَظِيمِthreat
with comprehensive words, sources of wisdom, eloquent emphasis, and great threat.
