تَفْصِيلُDetailingالْإِجْمَالِthe summaryفِيinالْقِصَّةِ:the story:
Detailing the summary in the story:
وَمِنْAnd fromهَذِهِtheseالْآثَارِreportsالْمَرْوِيَّةِnarratedفِيinكُتُبِbooksالتَّفْسِيرِof exegesis
And among these reports narrated in the books of exegesis
مَاis whatيَحْتَوِيcontainsعَلَىdetailingتَفْصِيلٍofلِإِجْمَالِthe summaryالْقِصَّةِof the story
is what contains details of the summary of the story
الَّتِيwhichوَرَدَwas mentionedالتَّعْرِيضُallusionبِأَصْلِهَاto its originفِيinالنَّظْمِthe Quranicالْقُرْآنِيِّ،text,
whose origin was alluded to in the Quranic text,
فَيَتَنَاوَلُso the exegetesالْمُفَسِّرُونَaddressتَفْصِيلَهَاits detailsمِنَfromالرِّوَايَاتِthe Israeliteالْإِسْرَائِيلِيَّةِ،narrations,
so the exegetes address its details from Israelite narrations,
أَوْorكُتُبِbooksالسِّيرِof biographyوَالتَّارِيخِ،and history,
or books of biography and history,
وَيَتَعَرَّضُونَand they discussلِجَمِيعِallأَجْزَائِهَاits partsوَتَفَاصِيلِهَا.and details.
and they discuss all its parts and details.
قِسْمَانِTwo categoriesمِنْofهَذَاthisالتَّفْصِيلِ:detailing:
Two categories of this detailing:
وَهُنَاAnd hereمَبْحَثٌis anotherآخَرُtopicوَهُوَwhich isأَنَّهُthatإِذَاifكَانَتِthe verseالْآيَةُincludesتَشْتَمِلُa clearعَلَىallusionتَعْرِيضٍto the storyظَاهِرٍor incidentبِالْقِصَّةِsuch thatأَوْone well-versedالْحَادِثِin the languageبَحَيْثُpausesإِنَّat thatالْعَارِفَplaceبِاللُّغَةِand resortsيَتَوَقَّفُto researchingفِيitذَلِكَand knowingالْمَوْضِعِabout it,
And here is another topic, which is that if the verse includes a clear allusion to the story or incident such that one well-versed in the language pauses at that place and resorts to researching it and knowing about it,
فَلَاthen the exegeteبُدَّmustلِلْمُفَسِّرِclarify it,مِنْand it isبَيَانِهِ،among hisوَهُوَresponsibilities.مِنْofمَسْئُولِيَاتِهِ.his responsibilities.
then the exegete must clarify it, and it is among his responsibilities.
وَلَكِنَّButالَّذِيwhatلَاdoes notيَدْخُلُenterفِيintoهَذَاthisالْقِسْمِcategory- مَثَلًا -- for example -هُوَisذِكْرُmentioning"بَقَرَةِ"the cowبَنِيof the Childrenإِسْرَائِيلَ"of Israel"
But what does not enter into this category - for example - is mentioning "the cow of the Children of Israel"
فَالتَّعَرُّضُso discussingلِبَيَانِto explainأَنَّهَاwhether itذَكَرٌwas maleكَانَتْorأَوْfemale,أُنْثَى،or
so discussing whether it was male or female,
أَوْorبَيَانُexplainingكَلْبِwhether the dogأَصْحَابِof the Peopleالْكَهْفِof the Caveهَلْwasكَانَspottedأَبْقَعَorأَوْred,أَحْمَرَ،all of that
or explaining whether the dog of the People of the Cave was spotted or red,
كُلُّallذَلِكَof thatمِنْis fromتَكَلُّفِthe burdensomeمَاpursuit ofلَاwhat doesيَعْنِي،not concern one,
all of that is from the burdensome pursuit of what does not concern one,
وَقَدْand indeedكَرِهَdislikedالصَّحَابَةُthe Companions- رَضِيَ- may Allahاللَّهُbe pleasedعَنْهُمْ -with them -ذَلِكَthatوَعَدُّوهُand considered itإِضَاعَةَwastingالْوَقْتِtimeوَاشْتِغَالًاand engagingبِمَاin whatلَاdoes notيَعْنِيconcernالْمُسْلِمَ.the Muslim.
and indeed the Companions - may Allah be pleased with them - disliked that and considered it wasting time and engaging in what does not concern the Muslim.
أَصْلَانِTwo principlesلَاmustبُدَّbeمِنْobserved:مُرَاعَاتِهِمَا:observed:
Two principles must be observed:
وَهُنَاAnd hereيَنْبَغِيit is appropriateأَنْthatيُحْفَظَtwo principlesأَصْلَانِbe kept in mindوَيُهْتَمَّand attentionبِمُرَاعَاتِهِمَا:be paid to observing them:
And here it is appropriate that two principles be kept in mind and attention be paid to observing them:
1 - The first, is that the established principle regarded in this chapter is that there be cited
