أَئِمَّةُImamsالتَّفْسِيرِ.of Tafsir.

Imams of Tafsir.

وَيَلِيهِAnd follows itذَلِكَthatالشَّرْحُexplanationلِلْغَرِيبِfor the rare wordsالَّذِيwhichرُوِيَwas narratedعَنْfromسَائِرِallالصَّحَابَةِthe Companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَand the Successorsوَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ.and their followers.

And that is followed by the explanation of rare words which was narrated from all the Companions, the Successors, and their followers.

وَأَرَىAnd I seeمِنَit appropriateالْمُنَاسِبِfrom the suitableأَنْthatأَجْمَعَI gatherفِيinالْبَابِthe chapterالْخَامِسِfifthمِنْofهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِtreatiseجُمْلَةًa goodصَالِحَةًamountمِنْofشَرْحِexplanationغَرِيبِof rare wordsالْقُرْآنِof the Quranالْكَرِيمِthe Nobleمَعَalong withبَيَانِclarificationأَسْبَابِof the causesالنُّزُولِ،of revelation,

And I consider it appropriate to gather in the fifth chapter of this treatise a good amount of the explanation of the rare words of the Noble Quran along with a clarification of the causes of revelation,

وَأَجْعَلَهَاand I make itرِسَالَةًa treatiseمُفْرَدَةًsingleمُسْتَقِلَّةًindependentحَتَّىso thatإِذَاifشَاءَwillsأَحَدٌ،someone,ضَمَّهَاhe annexes itإِلَىtoهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِ،treatise,

and make it a single, independent treatise so that if someone wishes to annex it to this treatise,

وَإِذَاand ifأَحَبَّlovesآخَرُanotherأَنْtoيَأْخُذَهَاtake itكَرِسَالَةٍas a treatiseمُسْتَقِلَّةٍindependentفَلْيَفْعَلْthen let him doذَلِكَ،that,وَلِلنَّاسِand for peopleفِيمَاin regards to whatيَعْشَقُونَthey loveمَذَاهِبُ.are [different] ways.

and if another loves to take it as an independent treatise, then let him do so, and people have different ways regarding what they love.

وَلْيُعْلَمْAnd let it be knownأَنَّthatالصَّحَابَةَthe Companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَand the Successors- رَضِيَ- may be pleasedاللَّهُAllahعَنْهُمْwith themأَجْمَعِينَ -all of them -يُفَسِّرُونَinterpret- أَحْيَاناً -- sometimes -بِلَازِمِby the necessary implicationمَعْنَاهُ،of its meaning,

And let it be known that the Companions and the Successors - may Allah be pleased with them all - sometimes interpret by the necessary implication of its meaning,

وَيَتَعَقَّبُand traceالْمُفَسِّرُونَthe commentatorsالْمُتَأَخِّرُونَlaterهَذَاthisالتَّفْسِيرَinterpretationنَظَراًwith regardإِلَىtoتَتَبُّعِtracingاللُّغَةِthe languageوَالْفَحْصِand examiningعَنْforمَوَارِدِsourcesاسْتِعْمَالِهَاof its usageفِيهَا،in it,

and later commentators examine this interpretation with regard to tracing the language and examining the sources of its usage therein,

وَالْغَرَضُand the purposeالْمَطْلُوبُdesiredفِيinهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِtreatiseذِكْرُis the mention ofتَفْسِيرَاتِinterpretationsالسَّلَفِof the Salafوَشُرُوحِهِمْand their explanationsلِلْأَلْفَاظِfor the wordsالْغَرِيبَةِrareبِنَصِّهَاwith its exact textوَفَصِّهَا،and details,

and the desired purpose in this treatise is the mention of the interpretations of the Salaf and their explanations of the rare words with their exact text and details,

أَمَّاas forتَنْقِيحُهَاrefining itوَنَقْدُهَاand criticizing itفَلَهُthen for itمَوْضِعٌis a placeآخَرُotherغَيْرُthanهَذَاthisالْمَوْضِعِ،place,

as for refining it and criticizing it, then it has a place other than this place,

"فَكُلُّ"for everyمَقَامٍcontextمَقَالٌis a statementوَلِكُلِّand for everyنُكْتَةٍsubtletyمَجَالٌ".is a field".

"for every context has its statement, and for every subtlety has its field".
