وَلَاAnd notتَأْكُلُواconsumeأَمْوَالَهُمْtheir wealthإِلَىtoأَمْوَالِكُمْyour wealth
And do not consume their wealth into your wealth
أَيْthat isمَعَwithأَمْوَالِكُمْyour wealth
meaning: with your wealth.
إِلَىtoالْمَرَافِقِthe elbows
To the elbows
أَيْthat isمَعَwithالْمَرَافِقِthe elbows
meaning: with the elbows.
يَشْرَبُdrinksبِهَاwith itعِبَادُservantsاللَّهِof Allah
With it drink the servants of Allah
أَيْthat isيَشْرَبُdrinksمِنْهَاfrom it
meaning: drinks from it.
وَمَاAnd notقَدَرُواthey appraisedاللَّهَAllahحَقَّtrueقَدْرِهِappraisalإِذْwhenقَالُواthey saidمَاnotأَنْزَلَsent downاللَّهُAllahعَلَىuponبَشَرٍany humanمِنْofشَيْءٍthing
And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal when they said, "Allah has not sent down to any human anything"
أَيْthat isأَنْthatقَالُواthey said
meaning: that they said.
إِبْدَالُReplacingجُمْلَةٍsentenceبِجُمْلَةٍwith a sentence
Replacing a sentence with a sentence
٤4-وَبِأَحْيَانٍAnd sometimesيُورِدُhe bringsمِنْfromجُمْلَةٍsentenceمَكَانَplaceجُمْلَةٍof a sentence
4 - And sometimes he brings a sentence in place of a sentence,
فَتَدُلُّso indicates-مَثَلًا--for example-جُمْلَةٌa sentenceعَلَىuponحَاصِلِresultمَضْمُونِcontentالْجُمْلَةِof the sentenceالثَّانِيَةِsecond
so for example, a sentence indicates the result of the content of the second sentence
وَسَبَبِand reasonوُجُودِهَاof its presenceفَيُبْدِلُونَهَاso they replace itبِتِلْكَwith thatالْجُمْلَةِsentence
and the reason for its presence, so they replace it with that sentence.
وَمِنْAnd fromأَمْثِلَةِexamplesذَلِكَthatقَوْلُهُis the saying-تَعَالَى--Exalted is He-
And from examples of that is His saying - Exalted is He -:
وَإِنْAnd ifتُخَالِطُوهُمْyou mix with themفَإِخْوَانُكُمْthen your brothers
And if you mix with them, then [they are] your brothers
أَيْthat isإِنْifتُخَالِطُوهُمْyou mix with themفَلَاthen notبَأْسَharmبِذَلِكَin that
meaning: if you mix with them, there is no harm in that
لِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyإِخْوَانُكُمْare your brothersوَشَأْنُand natureالْأَخِof the brotherأَنْis toيُخَالِطَmix withأَخَاهُhis brother
because they are your brothers, and the nature of a brother is to mix with his brother.
لَمَثُوبَةٌA rewardمِنْfromعِنْدِpresenceاللَّهِof Allahخَيْرٌis better
And a reward from the presence of Allah is better
أَيْthat isلَوْجَدُواhad they foundثَوَابًاa rewardوَمَثُوبَةٌand a rewardمِنْfromعِنْدِpresenceاللَّهِof Allahخَيْرٌis better
meaning: had they found a reward, and a reward from the presence of Allah is better.
إِنْIfيَسْرِقْhe stealsفَقَدْthen alreadyسَرَقَstoleأَخٌa brotherلَهُof hisمِنْfromقَبْلُbefore
If he steals, then a brother of his has stolen before
أَيْthat isإِنْifسَرَقَhe stealsفَلَاthen notعَجَبَwonderلِأَنَّهُbecauseسَرَقَstoleأَخٌa brotherلَهُof hisمِنْfromقَبْلُbefore
meaning: if he steals, there is no wonder because a brother of his stole before.
مَنْWhoeverكَانَisعَدُوًّاan enemyلِجِبْرِيلَto Gabrielفَإِنَّهُthen indeed heنَزَّلَهُbrought it downعَلَىuponقَلْبِكَyour heartبِإِذْنِby permissionاللَّهِof Allah
Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - then indeed he has brought it down upon your heart by permission of Allah
أَيْthat isمَنْwhoeverكَانَisعَدُوًّاan enemyلِجِبْرِيلَto Gabrielفَإِنَّthen indeedاللَّهَAllahعَدُوٌّis an enemyلَهُto him
meaning: whoever is an enemy to Gabriel, then Allah is an enemy to him
فَإِنَّهُfor indeed heنَزَّلَهُbrought it downعَلَىuponقَلْبِكَyour heartفَعَدُوُّهُso his enemyيَسْتَحِقُّdeservesأَنْthatيُعَادِيَهُhe be treated as an enemy byاللَّهُAllah-تَعَالَى--Exalted is He-فَحَذَفَso he omitted
because He brought it down upon your heart, so his enemy deserves that Allah - Exalted is He - considers him an enemy, so he omitted
