  • فَمَاso whatيُكَذِّبُكَmakes you denyبَعْدُafterwardsبِالدِّينِregarding the judgment

    • So what makes you deny the judgment afterwards?

  • مُتَّصِلٌconnectedبِقَوْلِهِto His sayingتَعَالَىHe is Exalted

    • It is connected to His saying - Exalted is He -

  • لَقَدْcertainlyخَلَقْنَاWe createdالْإِنْسَانَmanفِيinأَحْسَنِthe bestتَقْوِيمٍform

    • We have certainly created man in the best of stature.

  • يَدْعُوhe callsلَمَنْthe one whoseضَرُّهُharmأَقْرَبُis closerمِنْthanنَفْعِهِhis benefit

    • He calls upon the one whose harm is closer than his benefit.

  • أَيْthat isيَدْعُوhe callsمَنْthe one whoضَرُّهُhis harm

    • That is, he calls upon the one whose harm...

  • لَتَنُوءُit would burden heavilyبِالْعُصْبَةِa groupأُولِيpossessors ofالْقُوَّةِstrength

    • It would burden a group of possessors of great strength.

  • أَيْthat isلَتَنُوءُit would burden heavilyالْعُصْبَةُthe groupبِهَاwith it

    • That is, the group would be burdened by it.

  • وَامْسَحُواand wipeبِرُءُوسِكُمْover your headsوَأَرْجُلَكُمْand your feet

    • And wipe over your heads and your feet.

  • أَيْthat isاغْسِلُواwashأَرْجُلَكُمْyour feet

    • That is, wash your feet.

  • وَلَوْلَاand had it not been forكَلِمَةٌa wordسَبَقَتْthat precededمِنْfromرَبِّكَyour Lordلَكَانَit would have beenلِزَامًاinevitableوَأَجَلٌand a termمُسَمًّىspecified

    • And had not a word preceded from your Lord and a specified term, it would have been inevitable.

  • أَيْthat isوَلَوْلَاand had it not been forكَلِمَةٌa wordسَبَقَتْthat precededوَأَجَلٌand a termمُسَمًّىspecifiedلَكَانَit would have beenلِزَامًاinevitable

    • That is, and had not a word preceded and a specified term, it would have been inevitable.

  • إِلَّاif notتَفْعَلُوهُyou do itتَكُنْthere will beفِتْنَةٌtrials

    • If you do not do it, there will be trials.

  • مُتَّصِلٌconnectedبِقَوْلِهِto His sayingتَعَالَىHe is Exaltedفَعَلَيْكُمُthen upon you isالنَّصْرُvictory

    • Connected to His saying - Exalted is He - "Then upon you is the victory".

  • إِلَّاexceptقَوْلَthe statement ofإِبْرَاهِيمَAbraham

    • Except for the statement of Abraham.

  • مُتَّصِلٌconnectedبِقَوْلِهِto His sayingكَانَتْthere has beenلَكُمْfor youأُسْوَةٌan exampleحَسَنَةٌgoodفِيinإِبْرَاهِيمَAbrahamالْآيَةُthe verse

    • Connected to His saying: "There has been for you an excellent example in Abraham", the verse.

  • يَسْأَلُونَكَthey ask youكَأَنَّكَas if youحَفِيٌّare well-informedعَنْهَاabout it

    • They ask you as if you are familiar with it.

  • أَيْthat isيَسْئَلُونَكَthey ask youعَنْهَاabout itكَأَنَّكَas if youحَفِيٌّare well-informed

    • That is, they ask you about it as if you were well-informed.

    الزِّيَادَةُthe additionفِيinالْكَلاَمِspeech

    The addition in speech:

    وَالزِّيَادَةُand the additionعَلَىoverالسَّنَنِthe courseالطَّبِيعِيِّnaturalالْمَعْرُوفِknownفِيinالْكَلاَمِspeechأَيْضًاalsoتَنْقَسِمُis dividedإِلَىintoعِدَّةِseveralأَقْسَامٍcategories

    And the addition to the known natural course of speech is also divided into several categories.
