الْبَيِّنَاتُthe clear proofsبَغْيًاout of envyبَيْنَهُمْamong themselves
the clear proofs out of envy among themselves
فَهَدَىso Allah guidedاللَّهُAllahالَّذِينَthose whoآَمَنُواbelieved
so Allah guided those who believed
لِمَاto whatاخْتَلَفُواthey differedفِيهِin itمِنَofالْحَقِّthe truth
to what they differed in of the truth
بِإِذْنِهِby His permissionوَاللَّهُAnd AllahيَهْدِيguidesمَنْwhomيَشَاءُHe willsإِلَىtoصِرَاطٍa pathمُسْتَقِيمٍstraight}}
by His permission. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.
أُدْخِلَWas inserted{وَمَا{And notاخْتَلَفَdifferedفِيهِconcerning itإِلَّاexceptالَّذِينَthose whoأُوتُوهُ}were given it}
The statement {And none differed concerning it except those who were given it} was inserted
فِيinتَضَاعِيفِthe folds ofالْكَلامِthe speechالْمُنْتَظِمِconnectedبَعْضُهُparts of itبِبَعْضٍto others
within the discourse connected to one another
بَيَانًاas an explanationلِضَمِيرِfor the pronoun of{اخْتَلَفُوا}{they differed}
as an elucidation of the pronoun in {they differed}
وَإِيذَانًاand as an indicationبِأَنَّthatالْمُرَادَthe intended meaningمِنَofالِاخْتِلَافِthe differenceهَهُنَاhere
and an indication that the intended meaning of difference here
هُوَisالِاخْتِلَافُthe differenceالْوَاقِعُoccurringفِيinأُمَّةِthe nation ofالدَّعْوَةِthe call
is the difference that occurred in the nation of the call
بَعْدَafterنُزُولِthe descent ofالْكِتَابِthe Bookبِأَنْwherebyآمَنَbelievedبَعْضٌsomeوَكَفَرَand disbelievedبَعْضٌsome
after the revelation of the Book, whereby some believed and some disbelieved.
[زِيَادَةُ[The addition ofحَرْفِthe letter ofالْجَرِّ:]genitive case:]
[The addition of the preposition:]
وَأَحْيَانًاAnd sometimesيُزَادُis addedحَرْفُthe letter ofالْجَرِّprepositionعَلَىtoرَأْسِthe head ofالْفَاعِلِthe subjectأَوْorالْمَفْعُولِthe object
And sometimes a preposition is added to the beginning of the subject or the object.
وَيُجْعَلُAnd it is madeذَلِكَthatمَعْمُولًاgovernedلِلْفِعْلِby the verbبِوَاسِطَةِby means ofحَرْفِthe letter ofالْجَرِّpreposition
And that is made governed by the verb by means of the preposition
لِتَأْكِيدِto emphasizeالِاتِّصَالِ،the connection,وَمِنْand fromأَمْثِلَةِexamples ofذَلِكَthatقَوْلُهُis His saying- تَعَالَى -:- Most High -:
to emphasize the connection, and among the examples of that is His saying - the Most High -:
- {يَوْمَ- {The Dayيُحْمَىthey will be heatedعَلَيْهَا}over it}أَيْmeaningهِيَit is(الذَّهَبُ(the goldوَالْفِضَّةُand the silverالَّتِيwhichيَكْنِزُونَهَا)they hoard).
- {The Day when it will be heated over it} meaning it is (the gold and silver which they hoard).
- {وَقَفَّيْنَا- {And We followedعَلَىuponآثَارِهِمْtheir footstepsبِعِيسَىwith Jesusابْنِson ofمَرْيَمَ}Mary}أَيْ:meaning:قَفَّيْنَاهُمْWe followed themبِعِيسَىwith Jesusابْنِson ofمَرْيَمَ.Mary.
- {And We followed up their footsteps with Jesus, the son of Mary} meaning: We followed them with Jesus, the son of Mary.
وَاوُThe waw ofالِاتِّصَالِ:connection:
The waw of connection:
وَيَنْبَغِيAnd it is appropriateأَنْthatيُعْلَمَit be knownهُنَاhereنُكْتَةٌa subtle pointلَطِيفَةٌ،delicate,وَهِيَwhich isأَنَّthatالْوَاوَthe wawفِيinالْمَوَاضِعِthe placesالْكَثِيرَةِmany
And a subtle, delicate point should be known here, which is that the waw in many places
تَأْتِيcomesلِتَأْكِيدِto emphasizeالِاتِّصَالِthe connectionلَاnotلِلْعَطْفِ،for conjunction,مِثْلُlikeقَوْلِهِHis saying- تَعَالَى -:- Most High -:
comes to emphasize connection, not conjunction, like His saying - the Most High -:
