He helps her to stay alive, then keeps the rest for himself from what he plows the land?

نَحْنُWeمَنْwhoيُخَصِّبُهَا؟fertilizes it?

We who fertilize it?

رَوْثُنَا!Our manure!

وَرَغْمَ ذَلِكَAnd yet,لَاthere is noوُجُودٌexistenceلِأَحَدٍfor anyoneبَيْنَنَاamong usيَمْلِكُownsأَكْثَرَmoreمِنْthanجِلْدِهِhis skin

And yet, there is no one among us who owns more than his skin.

أَنتُنَّYou (plural)أَيَّتُهَاOالْبَقَرَاتُcowsاللَّاتِيwhoأَمَامِي،in front of me,كَمْhow manyمِنْofمِئاتٍhundredsاللِّتْرَاتِlitersمِنْofالْحَلِيبِmilkأَعْطَيْتُنَّyou gaveالسَّنَةَthe yearالْمَاضِيَةَ؟last?

You, cows in front of me, how many hundreds of liters of milk did you give last year?

وَمَاAnd whatمَصِيرُis the fateهَذَاof thisالْحَلِيبِmilkالَّذِيthatكَانَwasمِنَofالْمُمْكِنِpossibleأَنْtoتُرْضِعْنَyou nurseبِهِwith itصِغَارَكُنَّ،your young ones,وَمَنْحِهِمُand give themالْقُوَّةَstrengthوَالنَّشَاطَ؟and energy?

And what is the fate of this milk that could have nursed your young ones, and given them strength and energy?

مِنْFromكُلِّeveryقَطْرَةٍdropتَذُوقُوهَاthat tastedعَدُوِّنَاour enemyوَشَفَىand has quenchedغَلِيْلَهُhis thirstوَأَنتُنَّAnd you (plural)أَيْتُهَاOالدَّجَاجَاتُ،chickens,كَمْhow manyمِنْofبَيْضَةٍeggوَضَعْتُنَّdid you layهَذِهِthisالسَّنَةَ؟year?

And you, chickens, how many eggs did you lay this year?

وَكَمْAnd how manyبَيْضَةٍeggحَضَنْتُنَّ؟did you incubate?

And how many eggs did you incubate?

كُلُّAllالْأُخَرِthe othersبِيعَتْwere soldفِيinالسُّوقِ،the market,لِإِغْنَاءِto enrichجونزJonesوَرِجَالِهِand his men

All the others were sold in the market, to enrich Jones and his men.

وَأَنْتَAnd you,يَاOدُوس،Doss,أَيْنَwhereالْمَهْرَاتُthe filliesالأَرْبَعُthe fourالَّتِيthatجِئْتَyou cameبِهَاwith themإِلَىtoالْوُجُودِ،existence,وَالَّتِيand whichيُمْكِنُcanأَنْ تَكُونَbeعَزَاءًa consolationلِأَيَّامِfor the daysشَيْخُوخَتِكَ؟of your old age?

And you, Doss, where are the four fillies that you brought into existence, which could be a consolation for your old age?

كُلُّ وَاحِدَةٍEach oneبِيعَتْwas soldفِيinسِنَتِهَاits first yearالأُولَىٰthe firstوَلَنْand will notتَرَىsee herأَبَدًاeverفِيinمُقَابِلِreturn forوَلَادَاتِكَyour birthsالأَرْبَعِfourوَالْعَمَلِand the workفِيinالْحُقُولِ،the fields,مَاذَاwhatأَعْطَوْكَ؟did they give you?

Each one was sold in its first year, and you will never see her in return for your four births and the work in the fields, what did they give you?

حَصَّةٌa portionضَئِيلةٌsmallمِنْofالْحَشِيشِthe grassزَائِدَةٌplusمُرَبَطٌtieفِيinالإِسْطَبِلِthe stable

A small portion of the grass plus a tie in the stable.

وَحَتَّىAnd evenحَيَوَاتِنَاour livesالْبَائِسَةُmiserableتَنْطَفِئُextinguishقَبْلَbeforeالْأَوَانِ.its time.

And even our miserable lives extinguish before their time.

أَمَّاAs forأَنَاIفَلَاI do notأَمْلِكُownمَاwhatيَكْفِيis enoughمِنْofالْفَظَاظَةِrudenessمِثْلَlikeتِلْكَthatالَّتِيthatيَمْلِكُهَاis owned byالْمَحْظُوظُونَthe lucky ones.

As for me, I do not own what is enough of the rudeness like that which is owned by the lucky ones.

هَاHereأَنَاI amفِيinالثَّالثَةِthe thirdعَشَرَةٍtenمِنْofعُمُرِي،my age,أَنْجَبْتُI have given birth toأَكْثَرَmoreمِنْthanمِئَةٍone hundredخِنزِيرٍ.pigs.

Here I am in the thirteenth year of my age, I have given birth to more than one hundred pigs.

تِلْكَThatهِيَisحَيَاةُlifeالْخُنْزِيرِof the pigs,الطَّبِيعِيَّةُ،natural,لَكِنbutفِيinالنِّهَايَةِthe endلَاnoيَفْلَتُescapesأَيُّanyحَيَوَانٍanimalمِنْfromالسَّكِينِthe knifeالْكَرِيهِ.horrid.

That is the life of the pigs, natural, but in the end, no animal escapes from the horrid knife.

أَنْتُمْYouأَيَّتُهَاOالْخُنَازِيرُpigsالْيَافِعَةُyoungالْجَالِسَةُsittingهُنَاhereلِتَنْصَتُواto listenلِمَاto whatأَقُولُ،I say,كُلُّeveryوَاحِدٍoneمِنكُمْof youخِلَالَduringاثْنَتَيْ عَشَرَةَtwelveشَهْرًا،months,سَيَصْرُخُwill screamمِنَfromالأَلَمِpainالْفَظِيعِhorribleوَهُوَand it isيُعَدَّمُ.executed.

You, young pigs sitting here to listen to what I say, each one of you will scream from the horrible pain when executed during twelve months.

وَأَمَامَAnd in front ofهَذِهِthisالْفَظَاعَةِhorror,وَهَذِهِand thisالنِّهَايَةِ،the end,كُلُّنَاwe allمُرْغَمُونَ،are compelled,أَبْقَارًاcows

And in front of this horror, and this end, we all are compelled, cows.
