وَعَلَىAndهَذَا؛this;فَيَكُونُtherefore isقَوْلٌsayingهَؤُلَاءِof theseالْمُمَثِّلَةُrepresentativesمَرْدُودًاrejectedبِالْعَقْلِby reasonكَمَاasأَنَّهُthat itمَرْدُودٌis rejectedبِالسَّمْعِ.by auditory perception.
And therefore, the saying of these representatives is rejected by reason as well as by sound perception.
قَالَSaidاللَّهُGodتَعَالَى:The Exalted:﴿(وَهُوَAnd He isالسَّمِيعُthe All-Hearing;الْبَصِيرُthe All-Seeing;؛;فَأَثْبَتَHe establishedلِنَفْسِهِfor HimselfسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to Himوَتَعَالَىand Exalted is He;السَّمْعَthe hearingوَالبَصَرَ؛and sight;لِبَيَانِto clarifyكَمَالِهِ،His perfection,وَنَقْصِand the deficiencyالْأَصْنَامِof the idolsالَّتِيthatتُعْبَدُare worshippedمِنْbesidesدُونِهِ؛Him;فَالأَصْنَامَSo the idolsالَّتِيthatتُعْبَدُare worshippedمِنْfromدُونِwithoutاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىthe Exaltedلَاdo notيَسْمَعُونَ،hear,وَلَوْand if theyسَمِعُواheardمَاnotاسْتَجَابُواthey would respondوَلَاand notيُبْصِرُونَ؛see;كَمَاasقَالَsaidاللَّهُGodعَزَّ وَجَلَّ:the Mighty and Majestic:وَالَّذِينَAnd those whoيَدْعُونَcall uponمِنْfromدُونِbesides;اللَّهِAllahلَاdo notيَخْلُقُونَcreateشَيْئًاanything;وَهُمْand theyيُخْلَقُونَare created.**أَمْوَاتُThe deadغَيْرُare notأَحْيَاءٌalive,وَمَاand whatيَشْعُرُونَthey perceiveأَيَّانَwhenيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected.﴾)[النَّحْلِ[Al-Nahl::٢٠،20,٢١]؛21];فَهُمْTheyلَيْسُواare notلَهُمْfor themسَمْعٌhearingوَلَاand notعَقْلٌreasonوَلَاand notبَصَرٌ،sight,وَلَوْand if theyفُرِضَassumedأَنْthatلَهُمْfor themذَلِكَ؛that;مَاnotاسْتَجَابُوا:they would respond:﴿وَمَنْ(And whoأَضَلُّis more astrayمِمَّنthan one whoيَدْعُوcallsمِنْfromدُونِbesides;اللَّهِAllahمَنْwhoلَاdoes notيَسْتَجِيبُrespondsلَهُto himإِلَىuntilيَوْمِthe Day ofالْقِيَامَةِResurrection;وَهُمْand theyعَنْare heedless ofدُعَائِهِمْtheir supplication.غَفِلُونَ)heedless.)[الأَحْقَافِ[Al-Ahqaf::٥].5].
So, they do not have hearing, reason, or sight; and if we assume they had these faculties, they still would not respond: (And who is more astray than one who calls upon besides Allah one who does not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection, and they are heedless of their supplication.) [Al-Ahqaf: 5].
فَأَهْلُSo the peopleالسُّنَّةِof the Sunnahوَالْجَمَاعَةِand the communityيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِانتِفَاءِin the negationالْمُمَاثَلَةِof likenessعَنْofاللَّهِ؛Allah;لَأَنَّهَاbecause it isعَيْبٌ،a defect,وَيُثْبِتُونَand they affirmلَهُfor Him,السَّمْعَthe hearingوَالْبَصَرَ؛and sight;لِقَوْلِهِbased on His sayingتَعَالَى:the Exalted:﴿(لَيْسَThere is notكَمِثْلِهِlike Him;شَيْءٌanything;وَهُوَand He isالسَّمِيعُthe All-Hearingالْبَصِيرُ)the All-Seeing.)[الْشُّورَى:(Al-Shura:١١].11].
So, the people of the Sunnah and the community believe in the negation of likeness for Allah; because it is a defect, and they affirm for Him hearing and sight; based on His saying, the Exalted: (There is nothing like Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.) [Al-Shura: 11].
وَإِيمَانُAnd the faithالْإِنْسَانِof a personبِذَٰلِكَin thatيَثْمُرُbears fruitلِلْعَبْدِfor the servantأَنْtoيُعَظِّمَهُmagnify Himغَايَةًto the utmostالتَّعْظِيمِ؛greatness;لَأَنَّهُbecause heلَيْسَis notمِثْلُهُlike himأَحَدٌanyoneمِنَofالْمَخْلُوقَاتِ،the created beings;فَتُعَظَّمَso He is glorifiedهَذَاthisالرَّبُّLordالْعَظِيمُthe Greatالَّذِيwhoلَاnotيُمَاثِلُهُcomparable to Him;أَحَدٌ،anyone;وَإِلَّا؛And otherwise;لَمْ يَكُنْthere would be notهُنَاكَthereفَائِدَةٌbenefitمِنَfromإِيمَانِكَyour faithبِأَنَّهُin that Heلَيْسَthere is notكَمِثْلِهِlike Him.
And the faith of a person in that leads the servant to magnify Him to the utmost; because there is no one of the created beings similar to Him, so He is glorified this Great Lord who is comparable to no one; otherwise, there would be no benefit in your faith that He is not like Him.
إِذَاIfآمَنْتَyou believeبِأَنَّهُthat Heسَمِيعٌ؛is All-Hearing;فَإِنَّكَthen youسَوْفَwillتَحْتَرِزُbe cautiousعَنْfromكُلِّeveryقَوْلٍsayingيُغْضِبُthat angersاللَّهَ؛Allah;لِأَنَّكَbecause youتَعْلَمُknowأَنَّهُthat Heيَسْمَعُكَ،hears you,فَتَخْشَىand you fearعَذَابَهُ؛His punishment;فَكُلُّso everyقَوْلٍsayingيَكُونُthat isفِيهِin itمَعْصِيَةًdisobedienceاللَّهَto Allahعَزَّ وَجَلَّ؛the Mighty and Majestic;فَسَوْفَthen you willتَتَحَاشَاهُ؛avoid them;لِأَنَّكَbecause youتُؤْمِنُbelieveبِأَنَّهُthat Heسَمِيعٌ،is All-Hearing,
If you believe that He is All-Hearing, then you will be cautious about every saying that angers Allah; because you know that He hears you, and you fear His punishment; so every saying that entails disobedience to Allah, you will avoid; because you believe that He is All-Hearing.
