وَمَثَلُAnd likeقَوْلِهِhis sayingﷺ(peace be upon him)فِيinالْمُصَوِّرِينَthe artists«يُقَالIt is saidلَهُمto them: أَحْيُوا: Reviveمَاwhatخَلَقْتُمْyou created
And like his saying (peace be upon him) to the artists: 'It will be said to them: Revive what you created.'
وَمَثَلُAnd likeقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَىthe Exaltedفِيinالْحَدِيثِthe hadithالْقُدُسِيِّthe sacred: «وَمَنْ: 'And whoأَظْلَمُis more unjustمِمَّنْthan those whoذَهَبَwentيَخْلُقُto createكَخَلْقِيlike My creation
And like His saying the Exalted in the sacred hadith: 'And who is more unjust than those who went to create like My creation?'.
فَكَيْفَSo howتَجْمَعُdo you reconcileبَيْنَbetweenقَوْلِكَyour saying: أَنْthatاللَّهَAllahمُنْفَرِدٌis uniqueبِالْخَلْقِin creationوَبَيْنَand betweenهَذِهِtheseالنُّصُوصِtexts
So how do you reconcile between your saying: that Allah is unique in creation and these texts?!
فَالْجَوَابُThe answerأَنْ يُقَالis to say: إِنَّthatالْخَلْقَcreationهُوَisالإِيجَادَthe bringing into existence، وَهَذَا, and thisخَاصٌّis specificبِاللَّهِto Allahتَعَالَىthe Exalted، أَمَّا, as forتَحْوِيلُtransformingالْشَّيْءِthe thingمِنْfromصُورَةٍimageإِلَىtoأُخْرَىanother؛ فَإِنَّهُit is notلَيْسَnotبِخَلْقٍin creationحَقِيقَةًtruly, وَإِنْ, and ifسُمِّيَit is calledخَلْقًاcreationبَابًاa door، فَيُقَال, it is said: خَلَقَ: createdبَابًاa door, لَكِنَّ, butمَادَّةًthe substanceهَذِهِof thisالْصِّنَاعَةِcraftالَّذِيwhichخَلَقَهَاHe created itهُوَisاللَّهُAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almighty, لَا, noيَسْتَطِيعُone is ableالنَّاسُthe peopleكُلَّهُمْall of themمَهْمَاno matter howبَلَغُواthey reachفِيinالْقُدْرَةِabilityأَنْtoيَخْلُقُواcreateعُودًاwoodأَرَاكَof Arakأَبَدًاever, وَلَا, norأَنْtoيَخْلُقُواcreateذَرَّةًa particle, وَلَا, norأَنْtoيَخْلُقُواcreateذُبَابًاa fly
For example: This carpenter made a door from wood, it is said: he created a door, but the substance of this craft which created it is Allah, the Almighty. No people can ever create a piece of Arak wood, nor can they create a particle, nor can they create a fly.
وَاسْتَمِعْAnd listenإِلَىtoقَوْلِthe sayingاللَّهِof Allahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almighty: ﴿ يَتَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُO mankindضُرِبَan example has been struckمَثَلٌa parableفَاسْتَمِعُواso listenلَهُto itإِنَّIndeedالَّذِينَthose whoتَدْعُونَyou callمِنfromدُونِbesidesاللَّهِAllahلَنwill notيَخْلُقُواcreateذُبَابًاa flyوَلَوِEven ifاجْتَمَعُواthey gatherاللَّهَAllahوَإِنand ifيَسْلُهُمُthe fly takes from themالذُّبَابُthe flyشَيْئًاanythingلَاnotيَسْتَنْقِذُوهُthey can save itمِنْهُfrom itضَعُفَweak isالطَّالِبُthe seekerوَالْمَطْلُوبُand the sought
And listen to the saying of Allah, the Almighty: 'O mankind, an example has been struck, so listen to it: Indeed, those whom you call besides Allah will not create a fly, even if they gather together; and if the fly takes anything from them, they cannot save it from it. Weak is the seeker and the sought.'
وAndالَّذِينَthose who: اسْمٌare a nameمَوْصُولٌlinkedيَشْمَلُincludesكُلَّallمَاthat whichيُدْعَىis calledمِنْfromدُونِbesidesاللَّهِAllahمِنْfromشَجَرٍtreesوَحَجَرٍand stonesوَإِنْسٍand humansوَمَلَكٍand angels, وَغَيْرِهِم, and othersكُلَّallالَّذِينَthose whoيَدْعُونَcall
And those who: are a name linked to everything that is called besides Allah, from trees, stones, humans, angels, and others, all of those who call besides Allah.
لِمَ,For whatرَوَاهُwas narratedالْبُخَارِيُّby al-Bukhari(٥٩٦١)(5961)، وَمُسْلِمٌ, and Muslim(۲۱۰۷)(2107)، عَنْ, fromعَائِشَةَAishaرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَاmay Allah be pleased with herأَنْthatالرَّسُولُthe Messengerﷺ(peace be upon him)قَالَsaid: إِنَّIndeed, thatأَصْحَابُthe ownersهَذِهِof theseالْصُّورِimagesيُعَذَّبُونَwill be punishedيَوْمَon the Dayالْقِيَامَةِof Resurrectionوَيُقَالُand it will be saidلَهُمْto them: أَحْيُوا: Reviveمَاwhatخَلَقْتُمْyou created
For it was narrated by al-Bukhari (5961), and Muslim (2107), from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Messenger (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, the owners of these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to them: Revive what you created.'

It was narrated by al-Bukhari (5953), and Muslim (2111); from Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him.
