فِيinذَٰلِكَ.that.
In that.
أَمَّاas forالرَّحِيمُthe Merciful؛;فَهُوَhe isذُوthe possessor ofالرَّحْمَةِmercyالشَّامِلَةِ.encompassing.
As for the Merciful; he is the possessor of encompassing mercy.
وَرِيقٌand inالْآيَةِthe verseمِنَofالأَسْمَاءِthe namesالْغَفُورِthe Forgivingوَالرَّحِيمِ.and the Merciful.
And in the verse are the names, the Forgiving and the Merciful.
وَمِنْAnd ofالْصِفَاتِthe attributes::الْمَغْفِرَةِforgivenessوَالرَّحْمَةِ.and mercy.
And of the attributes: forgiveness and mercy.
الْآيَةُThe verseالسَّابِعَةُseventh::قَوْلُهُ:His saying:﴿﴿فَاللَّهُIndeed, Allahخَيْرُis the bestحَفِيظًاof guardiansوَandهُوَHe isأَرْحَمُmore mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَof the merciful.﴾﴾[يُوسُفَ:[Yusuf:٦٤]64].
The verse is: "Indeed, Allah is the best of guardians, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." [Yusuf: 64].
قَالَهَاHe said itيَعْقُوبُJacobحِينَwhenأَرْسَلَhe sentمَعَwithأَبْنَائِهِhis sons;أَخَاthe brotherيُوسُفَof Yusuf;الشَّقِيقِ؛the full brother;لِأَنَّbecauseيُوسُفَJosephعَلَيْهِpeace be upon himالصَّلَاةَprayersوَالسَّلَامَand peaceقَالَsaidلَاnoكَيْلَmeasureلَكُمْfor youإِذَاifرَجَعْتُمْyou return;إِلَّاexceptإِذَاifأَتَيْتُمْyou bringبِأَخِيكُمْ.your brother.
He (Jacob) said it when he sent with his sons the brother of Yusuf; because Yusuf, peace be upon him, said, "No measure will be given to you if you return, except if you bring your brother."
فَبَلَغُواSo they conveyedوَالِدَهُمْto their fatherهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةَ،message,وَمِنْand forأَجَلٍّthe sakeالْحَاجَةِof needأَرْسَلَهُhe sent himمَعَهُمْ،with them,وَقَالَand saidلَهُمْto themعِندَatوَدَاعِهِمhis farewell:﴿﴿هَلْDidءَامَنْتُكُمْI trust youعَلَيْهِupon himإِلَّاexceptكَمَاasأَمِنْتُكُمْI trusted youعَلَىonأَخِيهِhis brotherمِنَfromقَبْلُbefore,فَاللَّهُso Allahخَيْرٌis the bestحَفِيظًاof guardians,وَهُوَand He isأَرْحَمُmore mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَof the merciful."﴾﴾[يُوسُفَ:[Yusuf:٦٤]؛64];يَعْنِيIt meansلَنthat you will notتَحْفَظُوهُprotect him;وَلَكِنbutاللَّهَAllahهُوَHe isالَّذِيthe one whoيَحْفَظُهُ.protects him.
So they conveyed this message to their father, and for the sake of need, he sent him with them, and he said to them at his farewell: "Did I trust you upon him except as I trusted you on his brother before? So Allah is the best of guardians, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." [Yusuf: 64]; it means that you will not protect him, but Allah is the one who protects him.
وAndخَيْرٌthe bestحَفِيظًاof guardians;قَالَSaidالعُلَمَاءُ:the scholars:إِنَّهَاIt isتَمْيِيزٌ؛specification;كَقَوْلِas the sayingالْعَرَبِ:of the Arabs:لِلَّهِFor Allahدَرَهُdecreed himفَارِسًاas a horsemanوَقِيلَand it was saidإِنَّهَاthat it isحَالٌa conditionمِنْofفَاعِلٍa doerخَيْرٍbestفِيinقَوْلِهِ:his saying:﴿﴿فَاللَّهُso Allah;خَيْرٌis the best؛;أَيْ:that is:حَالٌa statusكَوْنَهُof his beingحَافِظًا.a guardian.
And the scholars said: "It is a specification; as in the saying of the Arabs: 'For Allah decreed him a horseman'; and it was said, 'It is a state of the doer of best in his saying: 'So Allah is the best.'"
الشَّاهِدُThe witnessمِنَfromالْآيَةِthe verseهُنَاhereقَوْلُهُ:is his saying:﴿﴿وَهُوَAnd He isأَرْحَمُmore mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَof the merciful,"؛;حَيْثُWhereأَثْبَتَHe establishedلِلَّهِfor Allahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and Glorious;الرَّحْمَةَ،mercy,بَلْratherبَيَّنَHe explainedأَنَّهُthat Heأَرْحَمُis more mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَ،of the merciful,لَوIfجُمِعَتْthe accumulatedرَحْمَةَthe mercyالْخَلْقِof the creaturesكُلِّهِمْ،all of them,بَلْratherرَحْمَاتٌand the merciesالْخَلْقِof the creatures;كُلِّهِمْ؛all of them;لَكَانَتْit would have beenرَحْمَةَthe mercyاللَّهِof Allahأَشَدُّmore severeوَأَعْظَمَ.and greater.
The witness from the verse here is his saying: "And He is more merciful of the merciful," where He established mercy for Allah, the Exalted and Glorious; rather, He explained that He is more merciful than the merciful—if the mercy of all creatures were combined, rather the mercies of all creatures; the mercy of Allah would be more severe and greater.
هَلَكَHe saidقَالَ:He said:سَتَرْتُهَاI have concealed itعَلَيْكَfrom youفِيinالدُّنْيَاthe worldوَأَنَاand Iأَغْفِرُهَاforgive itلَكَto youالْيَوْمَ.today.
He said: "I have concealed it from you in this world, and I forgive it to you today."
