الْآيَةُThe verseالثَّالِثَةُthird

The third verse

قَوْلُهُHis saying:(فَلَمَّآ(WhenأَسَفُونَاHe made us angryاَنْتَقَمْنَاWe took revengeمِنْهُمْfrom them)

His saying: (When He made us angry, we took revenge on them)

أَسَفُونَاHe made us angry؛يَعْنِي:means:أَغْضَبُونَاHe angered usوَأَسْخَطُونَاand displeased us

He made us angry; it means: He angered us and displeased us.

وَلَمَّاAnd whenهَنَاhereشَرْطِيَّةٌconditionalفِعْلٌverbالْشَّرْطِof the conditionفِيهاin it:أَسَفُونَا،He made us angry,وَجَوَابُهَاand its response:اَنْتَقَمْنَاWe took revengeمِنْهُمْfrom them.

And when it is conditional, its verb is: He made us angry, and its response is: We took revenge from them.

So in it, there is a response to those who interpreted displeasure and anger as revenge; because the people of negation, from the Ash'arites and others, say: that what is meant by displeasure and anger is revenge, or the will of revenge, and they do not interpret displeasure and anger as an attribute from the attributes of God by which He characterizes Himself, so they say His anger; that is: His revenge or the will of His revenge; they either interpret the anger as the object separated from God, which is revenge, or the will because they concede it, and they do not interpret it as a fixed attribute of God in a way that befits Him.

وَنَحْنُAnd weنَقُولُsayلَهُمْto themبَلْRatherالسَّخَطُthe displeasureوَالغَضَبُand angerغَيْرُis different fromالْاِنْتِقَامِrevengeوَالْاِنْتِقَامُAnd revengeنَتِيجَةٌis a resultالغَضَبِof angerوَالسَّخَطِ؛and displeasure;كَمَاAs weنَقُولُ:say:إنَّthatالثَّوَابَrewardنَتِيجَةٌis a resultالرِّضَا؛of satisfaction;فَاللَّهُSo Allahسُبْحَانَهُthe Exaltedوَتَعَالَىand Most Highيَسْخَطُdispleasedعَلَىuponهَـؤُلَاءِtheseالْقَوْمِpeopleوَيَغْضَبُand He is angryعَلَيْهِمْupon themثُمَّthenيَنتَقِمُHe takes revengeمِنْهُمْ.from them.

And we say to them: Rather, displeasure and anger are different from revenge; and revenge is the result of anger and displeasure; as we say: that reward is the result of satisfaction; so Allah, the Exalted and Most High, is displeased with these people and is angry upon them, then He takes revenge from them.

وَاجْلُAnd be cautious.

And be cautious.

And if they say that the intellect prevents the establishment of displeasure and anger for God, the Almighty, then we respond to them with what has preceded in the attribute of satisfaction; because the door is one.
