They disbelieved, but they deny it, distorting it, and they claim that it is 'interpretation'.

الصِّفَاتُattributesالسَّبْعُsevenهِيَareمَجْمُوعَةٌa collectionفِيinقَوْلِهِHis saying

The seven attributes are a collection in His saying:

لَهُTo Himالْحَيَاةُis lifeوَالكَلَامُand speechوandالْبَصَرُsightالسَّمْعُhearingإرَادَةٌwillوَعِلْمٌand knowledgeوَاقْتِدَارٌand power

To Him is life, and speech, and sight, hearing, will, knowledge, and power.

These attributes we affirm because the intellect has indicated them, and the remaining attributes what the intellect has not indicated, so we affirm what the intellect has indicated and deny what it has not indicated. And these are the Asharites; they believed in some and denied the others.

These are the sections of denial in the names and attributes, and all of them are branched from the innovation of Jahm, and whoever establishes a bad tradition in Islam; upon him is its burden and the burden of whoever acted upon it until the Day of Resurrection.

So the conclusion is that you brothers, if you read in the books of the people that concern the gathering of the sayings of people about this matter; you would see the astonishment of the incredibility, which you say: how does a reasonable person -let alone a believer- utter such speech?!

But whoever does not make for himself a light; what is for him of light! The one whom Allah has blinded his insight is like the one whom Allah has blinded his sight; for just as a blind person of sight, if he stands in front of the sun that breaks the light of sight, he would not see it; so likewise whoever is blinded by Allah in his insight, if he stands in front of the lights of truth, he would not see them and refuge in Allah.
