عَنْهُمْAbout themلَمْdid notيَكُونُواthey beيَبْحَثُونَsearchفِيinهَذِهِtheseالأُمُورِmatters؛;لِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyيَتَلَقَّوْنَreceiveالكِتَابَthe Quranوَالسُّنَّةَand the Sunnahعَلَىonظَاهِرِهِمَاthe apparent meanings of bothوَعَلَىand according toمَاwhatتَقْتَضِيهِis required byالفِطْرَةِthe innate nature،,وَالفِطْرَةُand the innate natureالسَّلِيمَةُthe soundسَلِيمَةٌsound،,لَكِنَّbutأَتَىcameهَـؤُلَـاءِtheseالمُبْتَدِعُونَinnovators،,فَابْتَدَعُواand they introducedفِيinدِينِthe religionاللَّهِof GodتَعَالَىMost Highمَاwhatابْتَدَعُواthey innovatedإِمَّاeitherلِقِلَّةِdue to the lack ofعِلْمِهِمْtheir knowledge،,أَوْorلِقُصُورِdue to the deficiencyفَهْمِهِمْof their understanding،,أَوْorلِسُوءِdue to the badقَصْدِهِمintentions،,فَأَفْسَدُواtherefore, they corruptedالدُّنْيَاthe worldبِهَذِهِwith theseالْبِدَعِinnovationsالَّتِيthatابْتَدَعُواthey inventedلَكِنَّbutكَمَاasقُلْنَاwe said::إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَGodتَعَالَىthe Most Highبِحِكْمَتِهِwith His wisdomوَحَمْدِهِand His praiseوَمِنَّتِهِand His blessingsوَفَضْلِهِمَاand His graceمِنْfromبِدْعَةٍinnovationخَرَجَتْhas emergedإِلَّاexceptقَيَّضَHe has ordainedاللَّهُGodلَهَاfor itمِنْfromيَدْحَضُهَاthose who refute itوَيُبَيِّنُهَاand clarify it۔.وَمِنْAnd amongجُمْلَةِthe totalityالَّذِينَof thoseبَيَّنُواwho clarifiedالْبِدَعَthe innovationsوَقَامُواand they stoodقِيَامًاin a standing positionتَامًّاcompleteبِدَحْضِهَاto refute itشَيْخُSheikhالإِسْلَامِof IslamابْنِIbnتَيْمِيَّةَTaimiyyahرَحِمَهُmay Allah have mercy on himوَأَسْأَلُand I askاللَّهَGodلِيfor meوَلَكُمْand for youأَنْthatيَجْمَعَنَاHe gathers usبِهِwith himفِيinجَنَّاتِthe gardensالنَّعِيمِof bliss۔.هَذَاThisالرَّجُلُmanالَّذِيwhoنَفَعَbenefitedاللَّهُGodبِمَاwith whatآتَاهُHe gave himمِنْfromفَضْلِهِHis graceوَمِنْand fromعَلَىuponالأُمَّةِthe Ummahبِمِثْلِهِlike himأَلْفَfoundedهَذِهِthisالْعَقِيدَةَcreedكَمَاasقُلْتُI saidإِجَابَةًin responseلِطَلَبِto the requestأَحَدٍof oneقُضَاةِof the judgesوَاسِطWasitالَّذِيwhoشَكَاcomplainedإِلَيْهِto himمَاwhatكَانَwasالنَّاسُthe peopleعَلَيْهَاupon itمِنَfromالْبِدَعِthe innovationsوَطَلَبَand requestedمِنْهُfrom himأَنْthatيُؤَلِّفَhe composesهَذِهِthisالْعَقِيدَةَcreedفَأَلَّفَهَاso he composed it
They did not search in these matters; because they received the Book and the Sunnah according to their apparent meanings and according to what is required by the innate nature, and the sound innate nature is sound. But these innovators came, and they innovated in the religion of God Almighty what they innovated either due to the lack of their knowledge, or due to the deficiency of their understanding, or due to the badness of their intentions, thus they corrupted the world with the innovations they introduced. But, as we said, indeed, Allah the Most High, with His wisdom and praise and blessings and grace, has not allowed an innovation to emerge except that He has ordained for it those who refute it and clarify it. Among those who clarified the innovations and stood completely to refute them is Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taimiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, and I ask Allah for me and for you that He gathers us with him in the gardens of bliss. This man whom Allah benefited with what He gave him from His grace and honored the Ummah with is like the one who founded this creed, as I said in response to the request of one of the judges of Wasit who complained to him about what people were upon from innovations and requested him to compose this 'Creed' so he composed it.
