أَنَّهُthat
That He is neither above the world nor below it, nor to the right nor to the left!
أَوْorأَنَّهُthat He isفِيinكُلِّeveryمَكَانٍplace
Or that He is in every place!!
فَهَذِهِSo theseمِنَare fromأَدِلَّةٍthe evidencesالْكِتَابِof the Bookوَالسُّنَّةِand the Sunnah.
So these are from the evidences of the Book and the Sunnah.
ثَالِثًاThirdly
Thirdly: As for the proof of consensus;
وَأَمَّاAnd as forدَلَالَةُthe indicationالإِجْمَاعِ؛of consensus;فَقَدْit has beenأَجْمَعَunanimously agreedالسَّلَفُthe predecessorsعَلَىonأَنَّthatاللَّهَAllahتَعَالَىthe Exaltedبِذَاتِهِin His essenceفِيis inالسَّمَاءِthe skyمِنْfromعَهْدِthe timeالرَّسُولِof the Messengerعَلَيْهِupon himالصَّلَاةِthe prayerوَالسَّلَامِ،and peace,إِلَىuntilيَوْمِنَاour dayهَذَاthis.
It has been unanimously agreed by the predecessors that Allah, the Exalted, is in His essence in the sky from the time of the Messenger upon him the prayer and peace, until our day this.
إِنْIfقُلْتَyou say::كَيْفَhowأَجْمَعُوا؟did they agree?
If you say: How did they agree?
نَقُولُ:We say:إِمْرَارُهُمْTheir passingهَذِهِtheseالْآيَاتِversesوَالْأَحَادِيثِand the hadithsمَعَwithتَكْرَارِthe repetitionالْعُلُوِّof the exaltationفِيهَاin themوَالْفَوْقِيَّةِand superiorityوَنُزُولِand the descentالأَشْيَاءِof thingsمِنْهُfrom Himوَصُعُودِهَاand their ascensionإِلَيْهِto Himدُونَwithoutأَنْthatيَأْتُواthey comeبِمَاwith whatيُخَالِفُهَاcontradicts them
We say: Their passing these verses and the hadiths with the repetition of the exaltation in them and superiority, and the descent of things from Him, and their ascension to Him without them coming with what contradicts them is a consensus on their meaning.
وَلِهَذَاFor this reasonلَمَّاwhenقَالَhe saidشَيْخُthe Sheikhالإِسْلَامِ:of Islam:إِنَّIndeedالسَّلَفَthe predecessorsمَجْمَعُونَunanimousعَلَىonذَاكَ؛that;قَالَ:he said:وَلَمْand noneيَقُلْsaidأَحَدٌanyoneمِنْهُمْ:from them:إِنَّthatاللَّهَAllahلَيْسَis notفِيinالسَّمَاءِ،the sky,أَوْ:or:إِنَّthatاللَّهَAllahفِيis inالْأَرْضِthe earthأَوْ:or:إِنَّthatاللَّهَAllahلَاdoes notدَاخِلَinsideالْعَالَمِthe worldوَلَاnorخَارِجَoutsideوَلَاnorمُتَّصِلٌconnectedوَلَاnorمُنْفَصِلٌseparatedأَوْ:or:إِنَّهُthat Heلَاdoes notتَجُوزُwould be appropriateالإِشَارَةُto indicateالْحِسِّيَّةِthe tangible::
For this reason, when the Sheikh of Islam said: Indeed, the predecessors are unanimous on that; he said: And none from them said: 'Indeed, Allah is not in the sky, or: that Allah is in the earth, or: that Allah is not inside the world nor outside it, nor connected nor separated, or: that it is not appropriate to indicate Him tangibly.'
رَابِعًا:Fourthly:وَأَمَّاAnd as forدَلَالَةُthe indicationالْعَقْلِ؛of reason;فَنَقُولُwe say::لَاnoشَكٌّdoubtأَنَّthatاللَّهَAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almighty and ExaltedإِمَّاeitherأَنْthatيَكُونَHe isفِيinالْعُلُوِّthe exaltationأَوْorفِيinالسُّفْلِ،the lowest place,وَكَوْنِهِand beingفِيinالسُّفْلِthe lowest placeمُسْتَحِيلٌ؛is impossible;لِأَنَّهُbecauseنَقْصٌa deficiencyيَسْتَلْزِمُthat necessitatesأَنْthatيَكُونَthere isفَوْقَهُabove HimشَيْءٌsomethingمِنْofمَخْلُوقَاتِهِHis creationفَلَاso there is notيَكُونَisلَهُfor Himالْعُلُوُّsupremacyالتَّامُّthe completeوَالْسَّيْطَرَةُand controlالتَّامَّةُthe completeوَالْسُّلْطَانُand dominionالتَّامُّ؛the complete;فَإِذَاSo ifكَانَit wasالسُّفْلُthe lowest placeمُسْتَحِيلًا؛impossible;كَانَit wasالْعُلُوُّthe exaltationوَاجِبًا.mandatory.
Fourthly: And as for the indication of reason; we say: There is no doubt that Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, is either in the exaltation or in the lowest place, and being in the lowest place is impossible; because it is a deficiency that necessitates that there be something above Him from His creation, so there is not for Him the complete supremacy and the complete control and the complete dominion; so if the lowest place is impossible; the exaltation is mandatory.
