تَصَدَّقَHe verifiedعَلَىuponسَيِّدِنَاour masterمُحَمَّدٍMuhammad
It affirmed our master Muhammad
- صَلَّى- peaceاللَّهُbeعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ -and blessings -
- peace and blessings be upon him -
لَاnotعَلَىuponالصُّورَةِthe imageالرُّوحِيَّةِspiritualلِعِيسَىof Jesus
not upon the spiritual image of Jesus
- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -be peace -كَمَاasيَدَّعُونَ،they claim,
- upon him be peace - as they claim,
إِذْsinceأَنَّهُheقَدْindeedصَرَّحَstated clearlyفِيinالْإِنْجِيلِthe Gospelبِأَنَّthat
since he stated clearly in the Gospel that
"فَارْ"Farقَلِيطَqalitيَمْكُثُremainsفِيكُمْamong youمُدَّةًa periodطَوِيلَةً،long,
"Paraclete remains among you for a long time,
وَيُعَلِّمُكُمْand teaches youوَيُزَكِّيand purifiesالنُّفُوسَ"the souls"
and teaches you and purifies the souls"
وَلَمْand has notيَظْهَرْappearedذَلِكَthatبَعْدَafterعِيسَىJesus- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -be peace -
and that has not appeared after Jesus - upon him be peace -
إِلَّاexceptمِنْfromنَبِيِّنَاour prophetمُحَمَّدٍMuhammad- صَلَّى- peaceاللَّهُbeعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ -and blessings -
except from our prophet Muhammad - peace and blessings be upon him -
وَأَمَّاand as forذِكْرُmention ofعِيسَىJesusوَتَسْمِيَتُهُ،and naming him,
and as for the mention of Jesus and naming him,
فَالْغَرَضُthe purposeمِنْهُfrom itالتَّصْدِيقُis the verificationبِنُبُوَّتِهِ،of his prophethood,
the purpose of it is the verification of his prophethood,
لَاnotأَنْthatيُتَّخَذَhe be takenرَبًّا،as a lord,
not that he be taken as a lord,
أَوْorيُعْتَقَدَit be believedبِأَنَّهُthat heابْنُsonاللَّهِof God
or it be believed that he is the son of God
{سُبْحَانَ{Exalted isرَبِّLordالسَّمَاوَاتِof the heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earthرَبِّLordالْعَرْشِof the Throneعَمَّاabove whatيَصِفُونَ}they describe}
{Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe}

The Quranic Debate with the Hypocrites
الْمُنَافِقُونَThe hypocritesصِنْفَانِ:are two categories:
The Hypocrites are Two Categories:
كَانَWereالْمُنَافِقُونَthe hypocritesصِنْفَيْنِ،two categories,
The hypocrites were two categories,
فَكَانَتْand wasطَائِفَةٌa factionمِنْهُمْof themتَشْهَدُtestifyingبِلِسَانِهَاwith its tongue
and a faction of them would testify with its tongue
بِلَاThere is noإِلَهَdeityإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُ،God,
There is no deity except God,
مُحَمَّدٌMuhammadرَسُولُis the messengerاللَّهِ،of God,
Muhammad is the messenger of God,
وَلَكِنَّbutقُلُوبَهَاtheir heartsكَانَتْwereمُطْمَئِنَّةًcontentإِلَىwithالْكُفْرِdisbeliefوَالْجُحُودِ،and denial,
but their hearts were content with disbelief and denial,
وَكَانَتْand it wasتَتَظَاهَرُfeigningبِإِسْلَامِهَاits Islamلِلْمَصَالِحِ،for interests,
and it was feigning its Islam for worldly interests,
وَهَؤُلَاءِand theseهُمُareالَّذِينَthoseقِيلَit was saidفِيهِمْ:about them:
and these are the ones about whom it was said:
{إِنَّ{Indeedالْمُنَافِقِينَthe hypocritesفِيwill be inالدَّرْكِthe depthsالْأَسْفَلِlowestمِنَofالنَّارِ}the Fire}
{Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire}
مَظَاهِرُManifestationsالنِّفَاقِof hypocrisyالْعَمَلِيِّ:practical:
Manifestations of Practical Hypocrisy:
وَكَانَتِAnd wasالطَّائِفَةُthe factionالْأُخْرَىotherمِمَّنْof those whoدَخَلُواenteredفِيintoالْإِسْلَامِIslam
And the other faction was of those who entered into Islam
مَعَwithضَعْفٍweaknessفِيهِin itوَقِلَّةِand scarcityإِيمَانٍof faithبِهِ،in it,
with weakness in it and scarcity of faith in it,
فَهُمْso they- مَثَلًا -- for example -يَجْرُونَrunعَلَىuponعَادَاتِcustomsقَوْمِهِمْof their people
so they - for example - follow the customs of their people
وَيَدُورُونَand revolveمَعَwithمَصْلَحَتِهِمْ،their interest,
and revolve around their interest,
فَإِنْso ifأَسْلَمَaccepted Islamقَوْمُهُمْtheir peopleأَسْلَمُوا،they accepted Islam,
so if their people accepted Islam, they accepted Islam,
وَإِنْand ifكَفَرَ.they disbelieved.
and if they disbelieved.
