بِسْمِIn the name ofاللَّـهِAllahالرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
إِنَّIndeedالْحَمْدَall praiseلِلَّهِis for Allah
Indeed, all praise is for Allah.
نَحْمَدُهُWe praise Himوَنَسْتَعِينُهُand seek His helpوَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُand seek His forgiveness
We praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness.
وَنَعوذُAnd we seek refugeبِاللَّـهِwith Allahمِنْfromشُرُورِthe evilsأَنْفُسِنَاof ourselvesوَسَيِّئَاتِand the badأَعْمَالِنَاdeeds
And we seek refuge with Allah from the evils of ourselves and our bad deeds.
مَنWhoeverيَهْدِهِAllah guidesاللَّـهُHimفَلَاthen no oneمُضِلَّ لَهُcan mislead him
Whoever Allah guides, there is no one who can mislead him.
وَمَنAnd whoeverيُضِلَّHe lets go astrayفَلَاthen there is noهَادِيَ لَهُguide for him
And whoever He lets go astray, there is no guide for him.
وَأَشْهَدُAnd I bear witnessأَنَّthatمُحَمَّدًاMuhammadعَبْدُهُis His servantوَرَسُولُهُand His Messenger
And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.
يَاOأَيُّهَاyou whoالَّذِينَhaveآمَنُواbelievedاتَّقُواfearاللَّـهَAllah
O you who have believed, fear Allah
حَقَّwith the trueتُقَاتِهِfear of Himوَلَاand do notتَمُوتُنَّdieإِلَّاexceptوَأَنْتُمْwhile you areمُسْلِمُونَMuslims
as He should be feared, and do not die except while you are Muslims.
يَاOأَيُّهَاmankindالنَّاسُpeopleاتَّقُواfearرَبَّكُمُyour Lord
O mankind, fear your Lord
الَّذِيwhoخَلَقَكُمْcreated youمِنْfromنَفْسٍone soulوَاحِدَةٍsingle
who created you from one soul
وَخَلَقَand createdمِنْهَاfrom itزَوْجَهَاits mateوَبَثَّand dispersedمِنْهُمَاfrom both of themرِجَالًاmenكَثِيرًاmanyوَنِسَاءًand women
and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women.
وَاتَّقُواAnd fearاللَّـهَAllahالَّذِيthrough whomتَسَاءَلُونَyou ask one anotherبِهِtherebyوَالْأَرْحَامَand the wombs
And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs.
إِنَّIndeedاللَّـهَAllahكَانَhas ever beenعَلَيْكُمْover youرَقِيبًاan Observer
Indeed, Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
يَاOأَيُّهَاyou whoالَّذِينَhaveآمَنُواbelievedاتَّقُواfearاللَّـهَAllah
O you who have believed, fear Allah
وَقُولُواand speakقَوْلًاwordsسَدِيدًاappropriate and straight
and speak words of appropriate justice.
يُصْلِحْHe will rectifyلَكُمْfor youأَعْمَالَكُمْyour deeds
He will rectify for you your deeds
وَيَغْفِرْand will forgiveلَكُمْfor youذُنُوبَكُمْyour sins
and forgive for you your sins.
وَمَنAnd whoeverيُطِعِobeysاللَّـهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messenger
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger
فَقَدْthen indeedفَازَhe has attainedفَوْزًاan attainmentعَظِيمًاgreat
has certainly attained a great attainment.
أَمَّاAs forبَعْدُwhat followsفَإِنَّindeedالنِّفَاقَhypocrisy
As for what follows: indeed, hypocrisy
هُوَisالدَّاءُthe diseaseالْعُضَالُchronicالْبَاطِنُinternal
is the chronic, internal disease
الَّذِيwhichيَكُونُleavesالرَّجُلُthe manمُمْتَلِئًاfullمِنْهُof it
which leaves a man full of it
وَهُوَwhile heلَاdoes notيَشْعُرُrealize
while he does not realize.
فَإِنَّهُFor indeed, itأَمْرٌis a matterخَفِيٌّhiddenعَلَىfromالنَّاسِthe people
Indeed, it is a matter hidden from the people.
وَكَثِيرًاAnd oftenمَاitيَخْفَىis concealedعَلَىfromمَنْthe one whoتَلَبَّسَis immersedبِهِin it
And often it is concealed from the one who is immersed in it,
فَيَزْعُمُso he claimsأَنَّهُthat heمُصْلِحٌis a reformerوَهُوَwhile heمُفْسِدٌis a corrupter
so he claims that he is a reformer while he is a corrupter.
وَهُوَAnd itنَوْعَانِis of two typesأَكْبَرُmajorوَأَصْغَرُand minor
And it is of two types: major and minor.
فَالْأَكْبَرُAs for the major,يُوجِبُit entailsالْخُلْدَeternityفِيinالنَّارِthe Fireفِيatدَرَكِهَاits lowestالْأَسْفَلِdepths
The major entails eternal residence in the Fire at its lowest depths.
وَهُوَAnd it isأَنْthatيُظْهِرَone displaysلِلْمُسْلِمِينَto the Muslimsإِيمَانَهُhis faithبِاللَّـهِin Allah
It is that one displays his faith in Allah to the Muslims,
وَبِمَلَائِكَتِهِand His angelsوَكُتُبِهِand His booksوَرُسُلِهِand His messengersوَالْيَوْمِand the LastالْآخِرِDay
and His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day.
