وَتَارَةًAnd sometimesيَأْتِيcomesبِالْمَفْعُولِwith the objectلَأَجْلِهِfor its purposeظَاهِرًۭاmanifestأَوْorمَحْذُوفًۭاdeleted

And sometimes it comes with the object for its purpose either manifest or deleted.

كَقَوْلِهِAs in the sayingفَرَجُلٌSo a manوَامْرَأَتَانِAnd two womenمِمَّنْfrom whomتَرْضَوْنَyou acceptمِنَfrom theالشُّهَدَاءِwitnessesأَنْthatتَضِلَّone is misguidedإِحْدَىamong the twoهُمَاthemفَتُذَكِّرَthen she remindsإِحْدَىthe otherهُمَاof them

As in the saying: 'So a man and two women from among the witnesses you accept, that one of them may be misguided, then she reminds the other of them.'

وَقَوْلُهُAnd in the sayingأَنْthatتَقُولُواyou sayيَوْمَon the Dayالْقِيَامَةِof ResurrectionإِنَّاIndeed weكُنَّاwereعَنْaboutهَذَاthisغَفِلِينَignorant

And in the saying: 'That you say on the Day of Resurrection: Indeed we were ignorant of this.'

وَقَوْلُهُAnd in the sayingأَنْthatتَقُولُواyou sayإِنَّمَاit is only thatأُنزِلَwas revealedالْكِتَـٰبُthe Bookعَلَىtoطَائِفَتَيْنِtwo groupsمِنْfromقَبْلِنَاbefore us

And in the saying: 'That you say: It is only that the Book was revealed to two groups from before us.'

أَيٌّMeaningكَرَاهَةًa dislikeأَنْthatتَقُولُواyou say

Meaning a dislike that you say.

وَتَارَةًAnd sometimesيَأْتِيit comesبِفَاءِwith the 'fa' (e.g., 'so')السَّبَبِيَّةِof causationكَقَوْلِهِas in the sayingفَكَذَّبُوهُSo they denied himفَعَقَرُوهَاand they mutilated herفَدَمْدَمَso He destroyedعَلَيْهِمْupon themرَبُّهُمtheir Lordبِذَنْبِهِمْfor their sinفَسَوَّنَهَاand made them equal

And sometimes it comes with the 'fa' of causation, as in the saying: 'So they denied him and they mutilated her, so their Lord destroyed them for their sin and made them equal.'

وَقَوْلُهُAnd in the sayingفَعَصَوْاthey disobeyedرَسُولَthe Messengerرَبِّهِمْof their Lordفَأَخَذَهُمْso He seized themأَخَذَةًwith a seizingرَابِيَّةًgreat

And in the saying: 'They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a great seizing.'

وَقَوْلُهُAnd in the sayingفَكَذَّبُوهُمَاSo they denied both of themفَكَانُواand they wereمِنَamong theالْمُهْلَكِينَdestroyed

And in the saying: 'So they denied both of them and they were among the destroyed.'

وَنَظَائِرُهَاAnd their counterparts

And their counterparts.

وَتَارَةًAnd sometimesيَأْتِيit comesبِأَدَاةِwith a toolلَمَّا'lamma' (when)

And sometimes it comes with the tool 'lamma' (when) indicating a reward.

كَقَوْلِهِAs in the sayingفَلَمَّاSo whenءَاسَفُونَاthey angered usانْتَقَمْنَاwe took revengeمِنْهُمْagainst them

As in the saying: 'So when they angered us, we took revenge against them.'

وَنَظَائِرُهَاAnd their counterparts.

And their counterparts.

وَتَارَةًAnd sometimesيَأْتِيit comesبِإِنَّwith 'in' (if)وَمَاand what

And sometimes it comes with 'in' (if) and what it worked in.

كَقَوْلِهِAs in the sayingإِنَّهُمْIndeed theyكَانُواwereيُسَارِعُونَhasteningفِيinالْخَيْرَاتِgood deeds

As in the saying: 'Indeed they were hastening in good deeds.'

وَقَوْلُهُAnd in the sayingفِيinضِدِّoppositionهَـؤُلَاءِto theseإِنَّهُمْindeed theyكَانُواwereقَوْمَa peopleسُوْءٍevilفَأَغْرَقْتَهُمْso I drowned themأَجْمَعِينَall together

And in the saying: 'Indeed they were an evil people, so I drowned them all together.'

وَتَارَةًAnd sometimesيَأْتِيit comesبِأَدَاةِwith a toolلَوْلَا'lawla' (if not)

And sometimes it comes with the tool 'lawla' (if not) indicating the relationship of what precedes it to what follows.

كَقَوْلِهِAs in the sayingفَلَوْلَاSo if notأَنَّهُthat heكَانَwasمِنَofالْمُسَبِّحِينَthe glorifiersلَاnotلَلَبِثَhe would have remainedفِيinبَطْنِهِhis bellyإِلَىuntilيَوْمِthe Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected

As in the saying: 'So if not that he was of the glorifiers, he would have remained in his belly until the Day they are resurrected.'

وَتَارَةًAnd sometimesيَأْتِيit comesبِـwithلَوْ'law' (if)الَّتِيindicatingعَلَىonالشَّرْطِthe condition

And sometimes it comes with 'law' (if) indicating the condition.

كَقَوْلِهِAs in the sayingوَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّهُمْtheyفَعَلُواhad doneمَاwhatيُوعَظُونَthey were advised withبِهِwith itلَكَانَit would have beenخَيْرًۭاbetterلَهُمْfor them

As in the saying: 'And if they had done what they were advised with, it would have been better for them.'
