وَلُAndاللَّهGodوَقَدْandحَفَّزَهُinspired himالنَّفْسِthe soulفَعَرَفْتُI knewفِيinوَجْهِهِhis faceأَنَّthatقَدْsomethingحَفَّزَهُinspired himشَيْءٍ،something,

And God, having inspired the soul, I knew something had inspired him from the look on his face,

فَمَاSo he didn'tتَكَلَّمَspeakحَتَّىuntilتَوَضَّأَ،he performed ablution,وَخَرَجَ،and left,فَلَصِقْتُI stuck(۱)(1)بِالْحُجْرَةِ،to the room,فَصَعِدَhe ascendedالْمِنْبَرَ،the pulpit,

So he didn't speak until he performed ablution, and left, and I stuck (1) close to the room, and he ascended the pulpit,

فَحَمَدَhe praisedاللَّهGodوَأَثْنَىand extolledعَلَيْهِ،Him,ثُمَّthenقَالَ:he said:أَيُّهَاOالنَّاسُpeopleإِنَّindeedاللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّGod Almightyيَقُولُsaysلَكُمْ:to you:

He praised God and extolled Him, then he said: 'O people, indeed God Almighty says to you:

مُرُواCommandبِالْمَعْرُوفِwhat is goodوَانْهَوْاand forbidعَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ،what is wrong,قَبْلَbeforeأَنْthatتَدْعُونِيyou call meفَلَاand I do notأُجِيبُكُمْanswer youوَتَسْتَنْصِرُونِيand you seek my supportفَلَاand I do notأَنْصُرَكُمْ،help you,وَتَسْأَلُونِيand you ask meفَلَاand I do notأُعْطِيكُمْ.give you.

'Command what is good and forbid what is wrong, before you call me and I do not answer you, and you seek my support and I do not help you, and you ask me and I do not give you.'

وَقَالَAnd he saidالْعُمَرِيُّthe asceticالزَّاهِدُ:zahid:إِنَّIndeedمِنْfromغَفْلَتِكَyour negligenceعَنْaboutنَفْسِكَyourselfوَإِعْرَاضِكَand turning awayعَنْfrom(t)(t)

And the ascetic said: 'Indeed from your negligence about yourself and your turning away from'

اللَّهGodأَنْthatتَرَىyou seeمَاwhatيُسْخِطُdispleasesاللَّهGodفَتَتَجَاوَزَهُ،and exceeds it,وَلَاand notتَأْمُرَcommandفِيهِ،in it,وَلَاand notتَنْهَforbidعَنْهُ،from it,مِمَّنfrom those whoلَاdo notيَمْلِكُownضَرًّاharm

God that you see what displeases God and exceed it, and do not command in it, nor forbid from it, from those who do not own harm or benefit.

خَوْفًاFear ofوَقَالَ:And he said:مِنْfromتَرْكِleavingالْأَمْرِthe commandبِالْمَعْرُوفِfor what is goodوَالنَّهْيِand the forbiddanceعَنْfromالْمُنْكَرِwhat is wrongمَخَافَةًout of fearمِنَofالْمَخْلُوقِينَcreaturesنُزِعَتْis taken awayمِنْهُfrom himالطَّاعَةَ،the obedience,

And he said: 'Leaving the command for what is good and the forbiddance from what is wrong out of fear of creatures is taken away from him the obedience,

وَلَوْEven ifأَمَرَhe commandedوَلَدَهُhis sonأَوْorبَعْضَsomeمَوَالِيهِof his followersلَاسْتَخَفَّhe would take lightly(٤)(4)بِحَقِّهِhis right.وَذَكَرَAnd mentionedالإِمَامَthe ImamأَحْمَدَAhmadفِيinمُسْنَدِهِhis Musnadمِنْfromحَدِيثِthe hadithقَيْسٍQaisبِنِbinأَبِيAbuحَازِمٍHazimقَالَ:he said:(1)(1)

Even if he commanded his son or some of his followers, he would take his right lightly. And the Imam Ahmad mentioned in his Musnad from the hadith of Qais bin Abu Hazim, he said:

(۱)(1)ز:Z:فَالتَّصَقْتُ»."I stuck."(۲)(2)ف:F:«عِمْرَانَ"Imranالزَّاهِدُ،»the ascetic,خَطَأٌ.is wrong.وَهُوَAnd he isأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِAbu Abdul-Rahmanعَبْدِ اللَّهِAbdullahبِنِbinعَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِAbdulazizبِنِbinعَبْدِ اللَّهِAbdullahبِنِbinعَبْدِ اللَّهِAbdullahبِنِbinعُمَرَUmarبِنِbinالْخَطَّابِ.Al-Khattab.

(1) Z: "I stuck." (2) F: "Imran the ascetic," is wrong. And he is Abu Abdul-Rahman Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Al-Khattab.

رَوَىHe narratedعَنْهُfrom himابْنُIbnعُيَيِنَةَUyaynahوَابْنُand IbnالْمُبَارَكِAl-Mubarakوَغَيْرِهِمَا.and others.كَانَHe wasقَوَّالًاa speakerبِالْحَقِّof the truthأَمَارًاand a commanderبِالْمَعْرُوفِ،of what is good,لَاnotتَأْخُذُهُtake himفِيinاللَّهِGodلَوْمَةَthe blameاللَّائِمِ.of the blamer.

He narrated from him Ibn Uyaynah and Ibn Al-Mubarak and others. He was a speaker of the truth and a commander of what is good, not taking him in God the blame of the blamer.

تَوُفِّيَHe diedسَنَةَin the year١٨٤هـ.184 AH.انظُرْSeeأَعْلَامَthe flagsالنُّبَلَاءِof the noble ones(۳۷۳/٨)(373/8)

He died in the year 184 AH. See the flags of the noble ones (373/8)

س:S:يَمْلِكُownsلَكَ».for you."

S: "owns for you."

ز:Z:«لَاسْتَخَفُّوا»."they would take lightly."(٥)(5)أَخْرَجَهُHe narrated itابْنُIbnأَبِيAbuالدُّنْيَاthe worldفِيinالْعُقُوبَاتِthe punishments(۳۸)(38)وَفِيand inالْأَمْرِthe commandبِالْمَعْرُوفِfor what is goodوَالنَّهْيِand forbiddingعَنْfromالْمُنْكَرِwhat is wrong(١٤)(14)وَأَبُوand AbuنَعِيمٍNaimفِيinالْحِلْيَةِthe adornment(۲۸٤/٨)(284/8)

Z: "they would take lightly." (5) He narrated it Ibn Abu Dunya in the punishments (38) and in the command for what is good and forbidding from what is wrong (14) and Abu Naim in the adornment (284/8)
