ٱلْقَرَارُ؛The decision;
The decision;.
فَهَـٰؤُلَـٰئِكَSo theseفِيare inنَعِيمٍ،bliss,وَهَـٰؤُلَـٰئِكَand theseفِيare inجَحِيمٍ.Hell.
So these are in bliss, and these are in Hell.
وَهَلْAnd isٱلنَّعِيمُthe blissإِلَّاother thanنَعِيمِthe blissٱلْقَلْبِ؟of the heart?
And is the bliss other than the bliss of the heart?
وَهَلْAnd isٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentإِلَّاother thanعَذَابِthe punishmentٱلْقَلْبِ؟of the heart?
And is the punishment other than the punishment of the heart?
ٱللَّهُ،God,
God,
وَأَيُّAnd whatعَذَابٍpunishmentأَشَدُّis more severeمِنْthanٱلْخَوْفِfearوَٱلْهَمِّand worryوَٱلْحُزْنِ،and sorrow,وَضِيقِand tightnessٱلصَّدْرِ،of the chest,وَإِعْرَاضِهِand turning away from HimعَنْfromٱللَّهِGodوَٱلدَّارِand the Hereafter,وَتَعَلُّقِهِand its attachmentبِغَيْرِto other thanٱللَّهِ،God,وَانْقِطَاعِهِand the disconnectionعَنْfromبِكُلِّeverythingوَادٍvalley,مِنْهُof itشُعْبَةٍ؟is a branch?
And what punishment is more severe than fear, worry, and sorrow, and tightness of the chest, and turning away from God and the Hereafter, and attachment to other than God, and disconnection from everything of it is a branch?
وَكُلُّAnd everythingشَيْءٍthat thing(١)(1)تَعَلَّقَthat is attachedبِهِto itوَأَحَبَّهُand loved itمِنْfromدُونِwithoutٱللَّهِGodفَإِنَّهُthen itيَسُومُهُwill inflict on himسُوءَevilٱلْعَذَابِ.the punishment.
And everything (1) that is attached to it and loved it other than God will inflict on him evil punishment.
فَكُلُّSo everyoneمَنwhoأَحَبَّlovesشَيْئًاsomething(٢)(2)غَيْرَother thanٱللَّهِGodعُذِّبَwill be punishedبِهِـ(٣)by it (3)ثَلاَثَthreeمَرَّاتٍtimesفِيinهَذِهِthisٱلدارِ :abode:فَهُوَSo heيُعَذَّبُwill be punishedبِهِby itقَبْلَbeforeحُصُولِهِits attainmentحَتَّىuntilيَحْصُلَit attains.
So everyone who loves something (2) other than God will be punished by it (3) three times in this abode: he will be punished by it before its attainment until it attains.
فَإِذَاThen ifحَصَلَit attains,عُذْبَhe will be punishedبِهِby itحَالَat the timeحُصُولِهِof its attainmentبِٱلْخَوْفِby fearمِنْofسَلْبِهِ،its deprivation,وَفَوَاتِهِand its lossوَٱلتَّنْمِيرِand the annoyanceوَٱلتَّنْكِيدِ عَلَيْهِ،and the souring of it,وَأَنْوَاعِand typesٱلْمُعَارِضَاتِ.of opposition.
Then if it attains, he will be punished by it at the time of its attainment by fear of its deprivation, and loss, and annoyance, and the souring of it, and types of opposition.
فَإِذَاThen ifسُلِبَit is deprived,اِشْتَدَّintensifiedعَذَابُهُhis punishmentعَلَيْهِupon him(٤).(4).
Then if it is deprived, his punishment will intensify upon him (4).
فَهَذِهِSo theseثَلاَثَةٌthreeأَنْوَاعٌtypesمِنْofٱلْعَذَابِpunishmentفِيinهَذِهِthisٱلدَّارِ.abode.
So these are three types of punishment in this abode.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forفِيinٱلْبَرْزَخِ،the Barzakh,فَعَذَابٌthe punishmentيُقَارِنُهُis coupled withأَلَمُpainٱلْفِرَاقِof separationٱلَّذِيthat whichلَاnotيَرْجُو(٥)hopes (5)عَوْدَهُ،its return,وَأَلَمُand the pain ofفَوَاتِthe loss ofمَاwhatفَاتَهُhas been lostمِنَfromٱلنَّعِيمِthe blissٱلْعَظِيمِgreatبِاشْتِغَالِهِby its occupationبِضِدِّهِ،with its opposite,وَأَلَمِand the painٱلْحِجَابِof the veilعَنْfromٱللَّهِ،God,وَأَلَمُand the painٱلْحَسْرَةِof regretٱلَّتِيthat whichتَقطَعُcutsٱلْأَكْبَادَ.the hearts.
And as for in the Barzakh, the punishment is coupled with the pain of separation that one does not hope (5) its return, and the pain of the loss of what has been lost from the great bliss by its occupation with its opposite, and the pain of the veil from God, and the pain of the regret that cuts the hearts.
فَالْهَمُّSo the worryوَٱلْغَمُّand the anguishوَٱلْحَسْرَةُand the regretوَٱلْحُزْنُand the sorrowتَعْمَلُworkفِيinنُفُوسِهِمْtheir soulsنَظِيرَsimilar toمَاwhatتَعْمَلُworksٱلْهَوَامُّthe insectsوَٱلْدَّوَانِand the wormsفِيinأَبْدَانِهِمْ،their bodies,بَلْbutعَمَلُهَاits workفِيinٱلنُّفُوسِthe soulsدَائِمٌis constantمُسْتَمِرٌّcontinuousحَتَّىuntilيَرُدَّهَاit returnsٱللَّهُGodإِلَىtoأَجْسَادِهَا،its bodies,فَحِينَئِذٍthen whenيَنْتَقِلُit changesٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentإِلَىintoنَوْعٍa typeهُوَthat isأَدْهَىmore severeوَأَمَرٌ.and worse.
So worry, anguish, regret, and sorrow work in their souls similar to what the insects and the worms work in their bodies, but its work in the souls is constant and continuous until God returns it to its bodies, then when it changes, the punishment changes into a type that is more severe and worse.
