لَجَالدُنَاwe will fightعَلَيْهِagainst himبِالسُّيُوفِwith swords
We will fight against him with swords.
وَيَقُولُAnd another saysالآخَرُthe otherإنَّIndeedفِيinالدُّنْيَاthe worldجَنَّةًa paradiseمَنْwhoeverلَمْdid notيَدْخُلْenterجَنَّةَparadiseالآخِرَةِthe Hereafter
And another says: Indeed, there is a paradise in this world; whoever does not enter will not enter the paradise of the Hereafter.
فَيَاSo Oمَنْwhoبَاعَsoldحَظَّهُhis fortuneالْغَالِيَpreciousبِأَبْخَسِfor the cheapestالثَّمَنِpriceوَغُبِنَand was cheatedكُلَّallالْغَبْنِthe cheatingفِيinهَذَاthisالْعَقْدِcontractوَهُوَand heيَرَىseesأَنَّهُthat heقَدْhadغُبِنَbeen cheatedإِذَاifلَمْnotيَكُنْbeلَكَfor youخِبْرَةٌexperienceبِقِيمَةِwith the valueالسِّلَعِof goodsفَسَلِّthen askالْمُقَوِّمِينَthe valuers
So O whoever sold his precious fortune for the cheapest price, and was thoroughly cheated in this contract while he sees that he had been cheated, if you do not have experience with the value of the goods, then ask the valuers!
فَيَاSo Oعَجَبًاhow amazingمِنْfromبِضَاعَةٍthe merchandiseمَعَكَwith youاللَّهُGodمُشْتَرِيَهَاwho buys itوَثَمَنَهَاand its priceجَنَّةَa paradiseالْمَأْوَىof refugeوَالسَّفِيرُand the ambassadorالَّذِيwhoجَرَىconductedعَلَىuponيَدِهِhis handعَقْدَthe contractالتَّبَايُعِof buying and sellingوَضَمِنَand guaranteedالثَّمَنَthe priceعَنْforالْمُشْتَرِيthe buyerهُوَhe isالرَّسُولُthe Messengerوَقَدْand hasبِعْتَهَاyou sold itبِغَايَةِfor the utmostالْهَوَانِhumiliation
So how amazing is the merchandise with you that God is the buyer, and its price is a paradise of refuge, and the ambassador who conducted the contract of buying and selling and guaranteed the price for the buyer is the Messenger, and you sold it for the utmost humiliation!
إِذَاIfكَانَit wasهَذَاthisفِعْلٌactعَبْدٍof a servantبِنَفْسِهِon his ownفَمَنْthen whoذَاis thereلَهُfor himمِنْofبَعْدَafterذَلِكَthatيُكْرِمُhonorوَمَنْand whoeverيُهِنِ اللَّهُGod humiliatesفَمَاthen whatلَهُis there for himمِنْofمُكْرِمٍone who honorsإِنَّIndeedاللَّهَGodيَفْعَلُdoesمَاwhatيَشَاءُHe wills
If this is the act of a servant on his own, then who is there after that to honor him? And whoever God humiliates, then what is there for him of one who honors? Indeed, God does what He wills.
فَصْلٌSection
Section
وَمِنْAnd amongعُقُوبَاتِهَاits punishmentsأَنَّهَاis that itتُعْمِيblindsبَصِيرَةَthe insightالْقَلْبِof the heartطُرُقَthe pathsالْعِلْمِof knowledgeوَتَحْجُبُand concealsمَوَادَّthe meansالْهِدَايَةِof guidance
And among its punishments is that it blinds the insight of the heart to the paths of knowledge and conceals the means of guidance.
ابْنُIbnعَسَاكِرَAsakirفِيinتَارِيخهِhis history
Ibn Asakir in his history
نَسَبَهُHis lineageالْمُصَنِّفُthe authorفِيinالْمَدَارِجِthe escalationsوَالْوَابِلِand the downpourالصَّيْبِof wetness
His lineage is stated by the author in the escalations and the downpour.
إِلَىtoشَيْخِSheikhالإِسْلامِof IslamابْنِIbnتَيْمِيَةَTaimiyahرَحِمَهُmay he have mercyاللَّهُGodوَقَدْand hasذَلِكَthat
To the Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taimiyah, may God have mercy on him, and has that.
سَمِعَHe heard
He heard
فَSoمُكَرَّمٌhonored
So honored
وَعَنْAnd aboutبَصَرِthe sightالْقَلْبِof the heart
And about the sight of the heart.
طَرِيقُThe wayالْعِلْمِof knowledge
The way of knowledge.
