لَتَدْكَدَكْتَthe earth would have collapsedالأَرْضُthe earthبِمَنْupon whomقَابَلَهُhe facedبِمَاwith that whichلَاnotتُلِيقُsuitableمُقَابَلَتِهِhis facingبِهِitوَلَوْلَاand if it were not forحِلْمِهِhis patienceوَمَغْفِرَتِهِand his forgiveness
The earth would have collapsed upon those it faced with that which is not suitable to be faced; and if it were not for His patience and forgiveness,
لَزَالَتِthe heavens and the earth would have been removedالسَّمَاوَاتُthe heavensوَالأَرْضُand the earthمِنْfromمَعَاصِيthe sinsالْعِبَادِof the servants
the heavens and the earth would have been removed from the sins of the servants.
قَالَHe saidتَعَالَىExalted is He:إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahيُمْسِكُholdsالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَالْأَرْضَand the earthأَنْthatتَزُولَاthey may departوَلَئِنْand if it were to beزَالَتَاremovedإِنْifأَمْسَكَهُمَاHe restrains themمِنْfromأَحَدٍanyoneمِّنْofبَعْدِهِafter Him:إِنَّهُIndeed, Heكَانَwasحَلِيمًاpatientغَفُورًاforgiving
He said: "Indeed, Allah holds the heavens and the earth from departing, and if they were to be removed, if He restrains them from anyone after Him. Indeed, He was patient and forgiving."
فَتَأَمَّلْSo contemplateخَتْمَthe conclusionهَذِهِof thisالْآيَةِverseبِاسْمَيْنِwith two of His namesمِنْfromأَسْمَائِهِHis names,,وَهُمَاand they areالْحَلِيمُthe patientالْغَفُورُthe forgiving:كَيْفَHowتَجِدُdo you findتَحْتَunderذَلِكَthatأَنْthatهَؤُلَاءِif it were notحِلْمِهِHis patienceعَنْofالْجُنَاةِthe offendersوَمَغْفِرَتِهِand His forgivenessلِلْعُصَاةِfor the sinnersلِمَاfor notاسْتَقَرَّتْsettledالسَّمَاوَاتُthe heavensوَالْأَرْضُand the earth
So contemplate the conclusion of this verse with two of His names, and they are the patient and the forgiving: How do you find that if it were not for His patience towards the offenders and His forgiveness for the sinners, the heavens and the earth would not have settled.
وَقَدْAnd indeedأَخْبَرَHe informedسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to Himعَنْaboutبَعْضِsomeكُفْرِof the disbeliefعِبَادِهِof His servantsأَنَّهُthat:وَتَكَادُAnd the heavens are nearالسَّمَاوَاتُthe heavensتَنْفَطِرْنَto burst asunderمِنْهُfrom Himوَتَنْشَقُّand the earth will splitالْأَرْضُthe earthوَتَخِرُّand the mountains fallالْجِبَالُthe mountainsهَدًّاcrumbling
And indeed, He informed about some of the disbelief of His servants that: And the heavens are near to burst asunder from Him, and the earth will split, and the mountains fall crumbling.
وَقَدْAnd indeedأَخْرَجَHe expelledاللَّهُAllahسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to Himالأَبَوَيْنِthe two parentsمِنَfromالْجَنَّةِParadiseبِذَنبٍby a sinواحِدٍoneارْتَكَبَاهُthey committed,,وَخَالَفَاand they disobeyedفِيهِin itنَهْيَهُHis prohibition.وَلَعَنَAnd He cursedإِبْلِيسَIblisوَطَرَدَهُand expelled himوَأَخْرَجَهُand brought him outمِنْfromمَلَكُوتِthe kingdomالسَّمَاءِof heavenبِذَنبٍby a sinارْتَكَبَهُhe committed,,وَخَالَفَand contradictedفِيهِin itأَمْرَهُHis command.
And indeed, Allah, glory be to Him, expelled the two parents from Paradise by one sin they committed, and they disobeyed His prohibition. And He cursed Iblis, expelled him, and brought him out from the kingdom of heaven by one sin he committed, and contradicted His command.
وَنَحْنُAnd weـ–مَعَاشِرُthe group ofالْحُمُقَاءِfoolsـ–كَمَاasقِيلَit was said
And we, the group of fools, as it was said:
