مَأْمُورٌOrderedبِهِwith itلِلَّٰهِfor Allahفَيَفْعَلُهُand he does itلِأَجْلِfor the sake ofهَوَاهُhis desireلَاnotلِلَّٰهِfor Allahوَandهَذِهِtheseأَمْرَاضٌdiseasesكَثِيرَةٌmanyفِيinالنُّفُوسِthe souls

Ordered with it for Allah, and he does it for the sake of his desire, not for Allah. These are many diseases in the souls.

وَالْإِنْسَانُAnd manقَدْmayيَبْغَضُhateشَيْئًاsomethingفَيَبْغَضُand hatesلِأَجْلِهِfor its sakeأُمُورًاthingsكَثِيرَةٌmanyبِمُجَرَّدِby mereالْوَهْمِillusionوَالْخَيَالِand imagination

And man may hate something, and he hates many things for its sake, by mere illusion and imagination.

وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd likewiseيُحِبُّlovesشَيْئًاsomethingفَيُحِبُّand lovesلِأَجْلِهِfor its sakeأُمُورًاthingsكَثِيرَةٌmanyلِأَجْلِfor the sake ofالْوَهْمِillusionوَالْخَيَالِand imagination

And likewise, he loves something, and he loves many things for its sake, for the sake of illusion and imagination.

كَمَاAsقَالَsaidشَاعِرُهُمtheir poetأَحْبَبْتُI lovedلِحُبِّهَاfor her loveالسُّودَانَthe black onesحَتَّىuntilأَحْبَبْتُI lovedلِحُبِّهَاfor her loveسُودٍthe blacksالْكِلابِof dogs

As their poet said, 'I loved her love for the blacks, until I loved her love for the blacks of the dogs.'

فَقَدْSo Iأَحْسَبُthinkسَوْدَاءَblackفَأَحْبَبْتُand I lovedجِنْسَthe kindالسُّوَادِof blacknessحَتَّىuntilفِيinالْكِلابِthe dogs

So I think black is it, and I loved the kind of blackness until in the dogs.

وَAndهَذَاthisكُلُّهُallمَرَضٌis a diseaseفِيinالْقَلْبِthe heartفِيinتَصَوُّرِهِits perceptionوَإِرَادَتِهِand its will

And this is all a disease in the heart in its perception and will.

فَنَسْأَلُSo we askاللَّهَAllahأَنْtoيُعَافِيَhealقُلُوبَنَاour heartsمِنْfromكُلِّeveryدَاءٍdiseaseوَنَعُوذُand we seek refugeبِاللَّهِwith Allahمِنfromمُنْكَرَاتِevil thingsالأَخْلَاقِof moralsوَالْأَهْوَاءِand passionsوَالْأَدْوَاءِand ailments

So we ask Allah to heal our hearts from every disease, and we seek refuge with Allah from the evils of morals, desires, and ailments.

وَAndالْقَلْبُthe heartإِنَّمَاwas created onlyخُلِقَfor the sake ofلِأَجْلِthe love ofحُبِّthe love ofاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىthe Most High.

And the heart was created only for the sake of the love of Allah, the Most High.

وَهَذِهِAnd thisالْفِطْرَةُnatureالَّتِيwhichفَطَرَAllah createdعَلَيْهَاon itعِبَادَهُhis servantsكَمَاasقَالَsaidالنَّبِيُّthe Prophet(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)(peace be upon him)

And this is the nature which Allah created his servants upon, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said.

كُلُّEveryمَوْلُودٌbornيُولَدُis bornعَلَىonالْفِطْرَةِthe natureفَأَبَوَاهُand his parentsيُهَوِّدَانِهِwill make him Jewishأَوْorيُنَصِّرَانِهِconvert him to Christianityأَوْorيُمَجِّسَانِهِmake him a Magianكَمَاasتَنْتِجُthe female animal producesالْبَهِيمَةُthe grazing animalبَهِيمَةًa grazing animalجَمْعَاءَof one kindهَلDoتُحِسُّونَyou feelفِيهَاin itمِنْofجَدْعَاءِmutilationثُمَّThenيَقُولُhe saysأَبُو هُرَيْرَةَAbu Hurairaرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُmay Allah be pleased with himاقْرَءُواReadإِن شِئْتُمْif you willالرُّومَthe Romans

Every newborn is born upon the nature, and his parents will make him Jewish, or convert him to Christianity, or make him a Magian, as the grazing animal produces a grazing animal of the same kind. Do you feel in it any mutilation? Then he says, Abu Huraira may Allah be pleased with him, 'Read if you will, the Romans.'
