عَمَلًاactionفِيهِin itمِقْدَارَamountذَرَّةًatomمِنْofالرِّيَاءِhypocrisy

An action in it amounts to an atom of hypocrisy.

وَالْمُصنِّفُand the authorرَحِمَهُmay have mercyاللَّهُAllahذَكَرَmentioned

And may Allah have mercy on the author, he mentioned.

He mentioned the invalidation of the reward and did not mention the invalidation of the action, due to concern regarding the reward and recompense, because the ultimate goal and top demand of the action is the reward and recompense.

وَكَذَلِكَand similarlyالْعَجَبُthe arroganceأَيْi.e.الْعَجَبُthe arroganceإِذَاifوَقَعَoccursفِيinعَمَلٍworkمِنَofالأَعْمَالِthe deedsفَإِنَّهُthen itيُبْطِلُnullifiesأَجْرَهُits rewardوَعَمَلَهُand its work

And similarly, arrogance, i.e., arrogance, if it occurs in any of the deeds, then it nullifies its reward and work, just like hypocrisy.

Because the arrogant one feels secure from the deception of Allah and does not fear the removal of his faith and deeds, and security from the punishment of Allah is disbelief.

وَالْآيَاتُAnd the signsأَيْi.e.الْمُعْجِزَاتُthe miraclesثَابِتَةٌare establishedلِلْأَنْبِيَاءِfor the prophetsعَلَيْهِمُupon themالسَّلامُpeaceيَعْنِيmeaningأَنْthatخَوَارِقَthe extraordinaryالْعَادَةِnatureالَّتِيwhichتَصْدُرُemanateعَنْfromالْأَنْبِيَاءِthe prophetsكِإِحْيَاءِlike revivingالْأَمْوَاتِthe deadوَانْفِجَارِand the burstingالْمَاءِwaterمِنْfromبَيْنَbetweenالأَصَابِعِthe fingersوَكَعَدَمِand the non-burningإِحْرَاقِburningالنَّارِthe fireوَغَيْرِهَاand othersتُسَمَّىare calledآيَاتٌsigns

And the signs, i.e., the miracles, are established for the prophets, peace be upon them, meaning that the extraordinary occurrences that emanate from the prophets, like reviving the dead and bursting water from between the fingers and not burning by fire, and others, are called signs.

لِأَنَّbecauseاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىMost Highيُرِيدُwantsبِصُدُورِهَاby their issuanceعَنْهُمْfrom themأَنْthatتَكُونَthey beعَلَامَةًa signوَدَلِيلًاand a proofعَلَىofنُبُوتِهِمtheir prophethoodوَصِدْقِهِمand their truthfulness

Because Allah, Most High, wants by their issuance from them to be a sign and a proof of their prophethood and truthfulness.

And the honors for the friends (of Allah) are true, i.e., the extraordinary things that emanate from the friends (of Allah) are called honors, because Allah, Most High, wants by their issuance from them to honor and exalt them.

وَالْوَلِيُّAnd the friend (of Allah)فِيinاللُّغَةِthe languageالْقَرِيبِthe close oneفَإِذَاSo ifكَانَisالْعَبْدُthe servantقَرِيبًاnearمِنْfromحَضْرَةِthe presenceاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىMost Highبِسَبَبِdue toكَثْرَةِthe abundanceوَيَتَفَاوَتُونَand they differفِيinمَاwhatدُونَless thanالإِيمَانِthe faithفِيinذَلِكَthatكُلِّهِallوَاللَّهُAnd AllahتَعَالَىMost Highمُتَفَضِّلٌis bountifulعَلَىuponعِبَادِهِHis servantsعَادِلٌjustقَدmayيُعْطَىgiveمِنَfromالثَّوَابِthe rewardأَضْعَافَmultitudesمَاwhatيَسْتَوجِبُهُrequires

And the friend (of Allah) in the language is the close one; so if the servant is near from the presence of Allah, Most High, due to the abundance, and they differ in what is less than the faith in all of that, and Allah, Most High, is bountiful upon His servants, just, may give from the reward multitudes of what is required.
