التَّوَقُّفُstoppingيَمْنَعُpreventsالتَّصْدِيقَverificationوَإِذَاand ifقَالَsaidآمَنْتُI believedبِاللَّهِin Allahوَاعْتَقَدْتُand I believedمَاwhatهُوَisالْحَقُّthe truthعِندَatاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىthe Most Highيُثَبِّتُestablishesبِهِwith itإيمانَهُhis beliefالإِجْمَالِيِّoverall(وَخَبَرَ(and the reportالمِعْرَاجِof the Ascensionحَقٌّis trueوَمَنand whoeverرَدَّهُrejects itفَهُوَhe isمُبْتَدِعٌan innovatorضَالٌّmisguidedأَيُّanyoneمِنْwhoأَنْكَرَdeniesالْمِعْرَاجَthe Ascensionإِلَىtoالسَّمَاءِthe heavenفَهُوَhe isمُبْتَدِعٌan innovatorضَالٌّmisguidedلِأَنَّbecauseرَسُولَthe Messengerاللَّهِof AllahعُرُوجٌAscensionعَلَيْهِpeace be upon himالصَّلَاةُprayersوَالسَّلاَمُand peaceبِجَسَدِهِin his bodyفِيinالْيَقَظَةِwakingإِلَىtoالسَّمَاءِthe heavenثَابِتٌis establishedبِالْخَبَرِby the reportالْمَشْهُورِthe famousوَهُوَand it isقَرِيبٌnearمِنَfromالْخَبَرِthe reportالْمُتَوَاتِرِthe mutawatirفِيinالْقُوَّةِstrength
Stopping prevents verification. If one says, 'I believe in Allah and I believe what is the truth at Allah, the Most High; this establishes his overall faith. (And the report of the Ascension is true, and whoever rejects it, he is an innovator who is misguided; that is, whoever denies the Ascension to the heaven, he is an innovator who is misguided; because the Messenger of Allah ascended, peace be upon him, in his body in waking to the heaven, which is established by the famous report and is close to the mutawatir report in strength.)
وَفِيAnd inكِتَابِthe bookالْخَلَاصَةِthe summaryوَمَنand whoeverأَنْكَرَdeniesالْمِعْرَاجَthe Ascensionيَنْظُرُshould seeإِنifأَنْكَرَhe deniesالْإِسْرَاءِthe Night JourneyمِنْfromمَكَّةَMeccaإِلَىtoبَيْتِthe houseالْمُقَدَّسِthe sacredفَهُوَhe isكَافِرٌa disbelieverوَلَوْand ifأَنْكَرَhe deniesالْمِعْرَاجَthe Ascensionمِنْfromبَيْتِthe houseالْمُقَدَّسِthe sacredلَاnotيُكَفِّرُhe disbelievesلِأَنَّbecauseالْإِسْرَاءِthe JourneyمِنْfromمَكَّةَMeccaإِلَىtoبَيْتِthe houseالْمُقَدَّسِthe sacredثَبَتَis establishedبِدَلِيلٍby proofقَاطِعٍdecisiveمِنَfromالْكِتَابِthe BookقَالَsaysاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most HighسُبْحَانَGlory beالَّذِيto HimأَسْرَىHe took on a journeyبِعَبْدِهِHis servantلَيْلاًby nightمِنَfromالْمَسْجِدِthe mosqueالْحَرَامِthe sacredإِلَىtoالْمَسْجِدِthe mosqueالْأَقْصَىthe further
And in the book 'the summary'; whoever denies the Ascension should see; if he denies the Night Journey from Mecca to the Sacred House, he is a disbeliever. And if he denies the Ascension from the Sacred House, he does not disbelieve, because the Night Journey from Mecca to the Sacred House is established by decisive proof from the Book; Allah, the Most High, said: 'Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from the sacred mosque to the further mosque.'
الَّذِيthatبَارَكْنَاWe blessedحَوْلَهَاaround itلِنُرِيَهُto show himمِنْofآيَاتِنَاOur signsإِنَّهُindeed, heهُوَheالسَّمِيعُthe Hearingوَالْمِعْرَاجُand the Ascensionمِنْfromبَيْتِthe houseالْمُقَدَّسِthe sacredلَمْnotيُثْبَتْis establishedبِدَلِيلٍby proofقَاطِعٍdecisiveمِنَfromالْكِتَابِthe Bookفَيَكُونَthen he will beمُنْكِرًاwho denies itمُبْتَدِعًاan innovatorضَالًّاmisguided
He says: ‘around it, We blessed, to show him some of Our signs; indeed, he is the Hearing. And the Ascension from the Sacred House has not been established by decisive proof from the Book; then he will be who denies it an innovator who is misguided *.'
قَالَsaidمُقَاتِلٌMaqatel (a name)فِيinتَفْسِيرِinterpretationقَوْلِهِhis sayingتَعَالَىthe Most HighسُبْحَانَGlory beالَّذِيto HimأَسْرَىHe took on a journeyبِعَبْدِهِHis servantلَيْلًاby nightكَانَit wasذَلِكَthatالْإِسْرَاءُthe Night Journeyقَبْلَbeforeالْهِجْرَةِthe migrationبِسَنَةٍa yearقَالَsaidالرَّسُولُthe messengerالصَّحِيحَةُthe correctحَقٌّis trueكَائِنٌwas
Maqatel said in the interpretation of his saying, ‘Glory be to Him who took His servant by night’; that Night Journey was a year before the Migration. The Apostle said that is true.
