مُرَادُthe intentionاللَّهِof Allah
The intention of Allah
فَإِنَّIfقَالُواthey saidلَاno,,قِيلَit was saidلَهُمْto them:فَمَاthen whatأَنْكَرْتُمْdid you denyأَنْthatيَكُونَthere isكَلَامُthe speechاللَّهِof Allahالَّذِيwhichهُوَisالْقُرْآنُthe Quranغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٍcreatedكَمَاasزَعَمْتُمْyou claimedأَنْthatقَوْلُthe sayingاللَّهِof Allahلِلشَّيْءِfor the thingكُنْbeغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٍcreated
If they say no, it was said to them: Then what do you deny that the speech of Allah, which is the Quran, is not created as you claimed that the saying of Allah for the thing 'be' is uncreated.
وَإِنَّAnd ifزَعَمُواthey claimedأَنْthatقَوْلُthe sayingاللَّهِof Allahلِلشَّيْءِfor the thingكُنْbeمَخْلُوقٍcreatedقِيلَit was saidلَهُمْto them:فَإِنَّthen ifزَعَمْتُمْyou claimedأَنَّهُthat it isمَخْلُوقٍcreatedمُرَادٌintentionفَقَدْthen indeedقَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahعَزَّthe Almightyوَجَلَّand Majestic:«إِنَّمَاIndeed,قَوْلُنَاour sayingلِشَيْءٍto a thingإِذَاwhenأَرَدْنَاهُwe willedأَنْthatنَقُولَwe sayلَهُto itكُنْbeفَيَكُونُand it becomes
And if they claimed that the saying of Allah to the thing 'be' is created, it was said to them: If you claimed that it is created, then indeed Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, said: 'Indeed, our saying to a thing when we willed to say to it be, and it becomes.'
فَيَلْزَمُكُمْIt necessitates youأَنْthatقَوْلَهُHis sayingلِلشَّيْءِto the thingكُنْbeقَدْhasقَالَsaidلَهُto itكُنْbeوَفِيand inهَذَاthisمَاwhatيَجِبُmustأَحَدٌoneأَمْرَيْنِof two mattersإِمَّاeitherأَنْthatيَكُونَit isقَوْلُthe sayingاللَّهِof Allahلِغَيْرِهِfor othersكُنْbeغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٍcreated:أَوْorيَكُونَit isلِكُلِّfor everyقَوْلٍsayingقَوْلٍsayingلَاnotإِلَىtoغَايَةٍlimitوَذَٰلِكَand thatمُحالٌis impossible
It necessitates you that His saying to the thing 'be' has said to it 'be', and in this what must be one of two matters: either the saying of Allah for others is not created, or it is that every saying does not lead to a limit, and that is impossible.
فَإِنَّThen ifقَالُواthey said:إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahقَوْلًاsaysغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقًاcreated,,قِيلَit was saidلَهُمْto them:فَمَاthen whatأَنْكَرْتُمْdo you denyأَنْthatتَكُونَisإِرَادَةُthe willاللَّهِof Allahلِلْإِيمَانِfor faithغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقَةًcreatedثُمَّthenيُقَالُit was saidلَهُمْto themمَاwhatالْعِلَّةُthe reasonلِمَاfor whatقُلْتُمْyou saidأَنْthatقَوْلُthe sayingاللَّهِof Allahلِلشَّيْءِfor the thingكُنْbeغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٍcreated
Then if they said: Indeed, Allah's saying is not created, it was said to them: Then what do you deny that the will of Allah for faith is uncreated?
فَإِنَّThen ifقَالُواthey said:لِأَنَّbecauseالْقَوْلُthe sayingاللَّهِof Allahوَاللَّهُand Allahلَاnotيَقُولُsaysلِقَوْلِهِto His sayingكُنْbeالرَّدُّthe replyعَلَىtoالْجَهْمِيَّةِthe Jahmitesوَيُقَالُand it was saidلَهُمْto them:أَلَيْسَIs it notلَمnotيَزَلْeverاللَّهُthat Allahعَالِمًاis knowingبِأَوْلِيَائِهِof His friendsوَأَعْدَائِهِand His enemiesفَلَاThen there is notبِدٌbutمِنْfromنَعَمThere must be
Then if they said: Because the saying of Allah, and Allah does not say to His saying 'be', the reply is against the Jahmites; and it was said to them: Is it not that Allah has always known His friends and His enemies? Then there is no way but that there must be dubiety.
قِيلَIt was saidلَهُمْto them:فَهَلSo do youتَقُولُونَyou sayإِنَّهُthat Heلَمnotيَزَلis everمُرِيدًاwillingلِلْتَّفْرِقَةِfor the differentiationبَيْنَbetweenأَوْلِيَائِهِHis friendsوَأَعْدَائِهِand His enemies:فَإِنَّThen ifقَالُواthey saidنَعَمyesقِيلَit was saidلَهُمْto themفَإِذَاthen ifكَانَتْwasإِرَادَةُthe willاللَّهِof Allahلَمnotتَزِلceaseفَهِيَthen it isغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقَةٍcreatedوَإِذَاand ifكَانَتْit wasإِرَادَتُهُHis willغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقَةٍcreated,,فَلِمَthen whyلَاnotقُلْتُمْdo you sayإِنَّthatكَلَامَهُHis speechغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٍcreatedفَإِنَّThen ifقَالُواthey saidلَاnoنَقُولُwe sayلَمnotيَزَلeverمُرِيدًاwillingلِلْتَّفْرِقَةِfor differentiationبَيْنَbetweenأَوْلِيَائِهِHis friendsوَأَعْدَائِهِand His enemies
Then if they said yes, it was said to them: Then if the will of Allah has not ceased, it is uncreated, and if His will is not created, why did you not say that His speech is not created? If they said no, we say: He never ceases to will for the differentiation between His friends and His enemies.
