بِدْعَتِهِمْtheir innovationوَقَوْلِهِمْand their sayingبَخَلْقِهِabout His creationفَدَلّسُواso they deceivedكُفْرَهُمْtheir disbeliefعَلَىuponمَنْwhoلَمْdid notيَقِفْstandعَلَىonمَعْنَاهُمْtheir meaningفَلَمَّاAnd whenوَقَفْنَاwe stoodعَلَىonمَعْنَاهُمْtheir meaningأَنْكَرْنَاwe deniedقَوْلَهُمْtheir sayingوَلَاand notيَجُوزُit is permissibleأَنْ يُقَالَto sayإِنَّthatشَيْئًاanythingمِنْofالْقُرْآنِthe Quranمَخْلُوقٌcreatedلِأَنَّbecauseالْقُرْآنَthe Quranبِكَمَالِهِin its entiretyغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٍcreated
Their innovation and saying about His creation led them to disguise their disbelief upon those who did not understand their meaning. When we understood their meaning, we denied their saying, and it is not permissible to say that anything from the Quran is created because the Quran in its entirety is not created.
(سُؤَالٌ)(Question)إِنْ قَالَ قَائِلٌif a speaker saysأَلَيْسَis it notقَدْ قَالَhas saidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most Highمَاwhatيَأْتِيهِمْcomes to themمِنْofذِكْرٍremembranceمِنْfromرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordمُحْدَثٌnewly revealedإِلَّاexceptاسْتَمَعُوهُthey listened to itوَهُمْwhile theyيَلْعَبُونَare playing
(Question) If a speaker says, 'Has Allah, the Most High, not said: "What comes to them from the remembrance of their Lord is newly revealed except that they listen to it while they are playing?"'
قِيلَIt is saidلَهُto himالذِّكْرُthe remembranceالَّذِيthatعَنَاهُHe meantاللَّهُAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyلَيْسَis notهُوَitالْقُرْآنَthe Quranبَلْbutهُوَitكَلَامٌspeechالرَّسُولِthe messengerعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلَامُpeaceوَوْعَظَهُand his admonitionإِيَّاهُمْto them.
It is said to him: The remembrance that Allah the Almighty meant is not the Quran, but it is the speech of the Messenger upon him peace and his admonition to them.
وَقَدْAnd hasقَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most Highلِنَبِيِّهِto His prophetوَذَكِّرْAnd remindفَإنَّfor indeedالذِّكْرَىthe remembranceتَنْفَعُbenefitالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers
And Allah the Most High has said to His Prophet: "And remind, for indeed the remembrance benefits the believers."
وَقَدْAnd hasقَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most Highذِكْرًاa remembranceرَسُولًاa messenger
And Allah the Most High has said: "A remembrance is a messenger."
فَسَمَّىSo He namedالرَّسُولَthe messengerذِكْرًاas a remembranceوَالرَّسُولُand the messengerمُحْدَثٌis newly revealed
So He named the messenger as a remembrance, and the messenger is newly revealed.
وَأَيْضًاAnd alsoفَإنَّforاللَّهُAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyقَالَhas saidمَاWhatيَأْتِيَهُمْcomes to themمِنْofذِكْرٍremembranceمِنْfromرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordمُحْدَثٌnewly revealedإِلَّاexceptاسْتَمَعُوهُthey listened to itوَهُمْwhile theyيَلْعَبُونَare playing.
And also, Allah the Almighty has said: "What comes to them from the remembrance of their Lord is newly revealed except that they listened to it while they are playing."
يُخْبِرُHe informsأَنَّهُمْthat theyلَاdo notيَأْتِيَهُمْcome to themذِكْرٌremembranceمُحْدَثٌnewly revealedإِلَّاexceptاسْتَمَعُوهُthey listened to itوَهُمْwhile theyيَلْعَبُونَare playing.
He informs that they do not come to them with any remembrance newly revealed, except that they listened to it while they are playing.
وَلَمْAnd did notيُقَلْsayلَاit is notيَأْتِيَهُمْcomes to themذِكْرٌremembranceإِلَّاexceptكَانَwasمُحْدَثًاnewly revealedوَإِذَاAnd ifلَمْdid notيُقَلْsayهَذَاthisلَمْit did notيَجِبْit is requiredأَنْtoيَكُونَto beالْقُرْآنُthe Quranمُحْدَثًاnewly revealed
And did not say: 'There comes to them a remembrance except that it was newly revealed,' and if it did not say this, it does not require that the Quran be newly revealed.
وَلَوْAnd ifقَالَsaidقَائِلٌa speakerمَاwhatيَأْتِيَهُمْcomes to themرَجُلٌa manمِنْofالتَّمِيمِيِّينَthe Tamim tribeيَدْعُوهُمْcalls themإِلَىtoالْحَقِّthe truthإِلَّاexceptأَعْرَضُواthey turn awayعَنْهُfrom himلَمْdid notيَجِبْit is requiredهَذَاthisالْقَوْلُsayingإِنَّهُthatلَاnotيَأْتِيَهُمْcomes to themرَجُلُa man.إِلَّاexceptكَانَwasتَمِيمِيًّاTamimiفَكَذَلِكَSo likewiseالْقَوْلُthe sayingفِي مَاin whatسَأَلُونَاthey asked us
And if a speaker says: 'What comes to them is a man from the Tamim tribe calling them to the truth, except that they turn away from him,' this saying does not require that there comes to them a man except that he be Tamimi; so likewise the saying regarding what they asked us about.
(سُؤَالٌ)(Question)وَإِنْAnd ifسَأَلُونَاthey asked usعَنْaboutقَوْلِthe sayingاللَّهAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyقُرْآنًاthe Quranعَرَبِيًّاin ArabicقِيلَIt is saidلَهُمْto themاللَّهAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe AlmightyأَنزَلَهُHe sent downوَلَيْسَand is notمَخْلُوقًاcreated.
(Question) And if they asked us about the saying of Allah the Almighty: "the Quran in Arabic," it is said to them: 'Allah the Almighty sent it down and it is not created.'
