جَمِيعُAllمَاthatفَعَلَهُwas doneالأُمَمُby the nationsكَانَwasمَكْتُوبًاwrittenعَلَيْهُمْon them

All that the nations did was written upon them.

قَالَsaidمُقَاتِلٌMuqatilكُلُّEveryشَيْءٍthingفَعَلُوهُthey didفِيinالزُّبُرِthe scripturesأَيٌّwhich meansمَكْتُوبًاwrittenعَلَيْهِمْon themفِيinاللَّوْحِthe tabletالْمَحْفُوظِpreserved,,وَكُلُّAnd everyصَغِيرٍsmallوَكَبِيرٍand largeمِنْofالْخَلْقِcreationوَالْأَعْمَالِand actionsمُسْتَطَرٌis documentedمَكْتُوبٌwrittenعَلَىonفَاعِلِيهِits doersقَبْلَbeforeأَنْthatيَفْعَلُوهُthey do it

Muqatil said: Every thing they did is written in the scriptures, which means written upon them in the preserved tablet, and every small and large act of creation and actions is documented and written on its doers before they do it.

انْتَهَىEndedكَلَامُspeechالْشَّارِحِthe commentatorوَأَخْرَجَAnd narratedأَبُوAbuالشَّيْخِSheikhعَنْfromإِبْنِIbnعُمَرَUmarعَنْfromالنَّبِيِّthe Prophet(peace be upon him)قَالَsaidإِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahتَعَالَىGlorified be Heأَوَّلُfirstشَيْءٍthingخَلَقَcreatedالْقَلَمَthe penوَهُوَand itمِنْofنَوْرٍlightمَسِيرَتِهِits journeyخَمْسَمِائَةِfive hundredعَامٍyearsوَجَرَىand it flowedبِمَاwith whatهُوَit isكَائِنٌexistingإِلَىuntilيَوْمِthe Dayالْقِيَامَةِof Resurrection

The commentator's speech has ended. Abu Sheikh narrated from Ibn Umar from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said, 'Indeed Allah, glorified be He, first created the pen which is of light and its journey is five hundred years and it flowed with what is existing until the Day of Resurrection.'

فَصَدِّقُواSo believeبِكُلِّin everythingمَاthat whichبَلَغَكُمwas conveyed to youعَنْfromاللَّهِAllahمِنْofقُدْرَتِهِHis powerوَعَظَمَتِهِand His greatnessفَهُوَfor He isالْقَادِرُthe All-Powerfulالْقَاهِرُthe Supreme Conqueror

So believe in everything that has been conveyed to you about Allah, of His power and greatness; for He is the All-Powerful, the Supreme Conqueror.

كَذَٰلِكَThusفِيinالْهَيْئَةِthe mannerالسَّنِيَّةِexcellentلِلْسُّيُوطِيِّof as-Suyuti

Thus is in the excellent manner of as-Suyuti.

وَأَخْرَجَAnd narratedالْبَيْهَقِيُّal-BayhaqiعَنْfromإِبْنِIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَاMay Allah be pleased with themأَنْthatالنَّبِيَّthe ProphetاللَّهَAllahقَالَsaidوَأَوَّلُAnd the firstمَاwhatخَلَقَcreatedاللَّهُAllahالْقَلَمَthe penثُمَّThenخَلَقَcreatedالْعَرْشَthe Throneوَالْكُرْسِيَّand the ChairثُمَّThenلَوْحًاa tabletمَحْفُوظًاpreservedمِنْofدُرَّةٍpearlبَيضاءَwhiteدَفَّتَاهُits coversمِنْ-denيَاقُوتٍrubyحَمْرَاءَredقَلَمُهُIts penنُورٌlightوَكِتَابَتُهُand its writingنُورٌlightيَنْظُرُlooksاللَّهُAllahفِيهَاin itكُلَّeveryيَوْمٍdayثَلاثَمِائَةٍthree hundredوَسِتِّينَand sixtyنَظْرَةًglances,,يَخْلُقُcreatesاللَّهُAllahفِيinكُلِّeachنَظْرَةٍglanceوَيُحْيِيand gives lifeوَيُمِيتُand brings deathوَيُعِزُّand grants honorوَيُذِلُّand humiliatesوَيَرْفَعُand raisesأَقْوَامًاnationsوَيُخَفِّضُand lowersأَقْوَامًاnations

And al-Bayhaqi narrated from Ibn Abbas may Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet Allah said: 'And the first thing Allah created was the pen, then He created the Throne and the Chair, then a preserved tablet of white pearl, its covers of red ruby. Its pen is light and its writing is also light. Allah looks in it every day, three hundred and sixty glances; Allah creates in every glance, gives life and brings death, grants honor and humiliates, raises nations and lowers nations.'

كَذَٰلِكَThusفِيinالْهَيْئَةِthe mannerالسَّنِيَّةِexcellentأَيْضًاalso

Thus is in the excellent manner also.

فَصْلٌSectionقَالَsaidالْمُصَنِّفُthe authorأَبُوAbuحَنِيفَةَHanifaرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُMay Allah be pleased with himوَنُقَرِّرُand we assertبِأَنَّthatعَذَابَthe punishmentالْقَبْرِof the graveكَائِنٌis existentلَاnotمُحَالَةٌby necessityأَقُولُI sayقَالَsaidالْمُصَنِّفُthe authorأَبُوAbuحَنِيفَةَHanifaفِيinعَذَابِthe punishmentالْقَبْرِthe graveحَقٌّis truth

Section: The author Abu Hanifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said, 'and we assert that the punishment of the grave is existent by necessity. I say, the author Abu Hanifa said, 'the punishment of the grave is truth.'
