يُقالَIt is said:بَأَنَّهَاthat it isفِيinالسَّمَواتِthe heavensوَهُوَand it isأَلْفٌone thousandأَلْفٌone thousandمَرَّةًtimesمِثْلَlikeالسَّمَواتِthe heavens
It is said that it is in the heavens and that it is one thousand thousand times like the heavens.
قَالَAllah saidاللَّهAllahتَعَالَىthe Almighty:«"عِندَAtسَدْرَةِthe Sidrahالْمُنْتَهَىٰof the utmost boundaryعِندَهَاthere isجَنَّةٌa paradiseالْمَأْوَىٰof refuge"
Allah said: "At the Sidrah of the utmost boundary, there is a paradise of refuge."
*وَالسَّدْرَةُAnd the SidrahفَوْقَaboveسَبْعِsevenسَمَواتٍheavensوَكَذَلِكَAnd likewiseجَهَنَّمُHellتَحْتَbelowوَandالْأَرْضِthe earthالسَّابِعَةِthe seventh
And the Sidrah is above the seven heavens, and likewise Hell is below the seventh earth.
قَالَAllah saidاللَّهAllahتَعَالَىthe Almighty:«"كَلَّاNoإِنَّIndeedكِتَابَthe Bookالْفُجَّارِof the wickedلَفِيis indeed inسِجِّينٍSijjin"*
Allah said: "Indeed, the Book of the wicked is indeed in Sijjin."
*وَالسِّجِّينُAnd Sijjinتَحْتَbelowالْأَرْضِthe earthالسَّابِعَةِthe seventh
And Sijjin is below the seventh earth.
فَأَرْوَاحُSo the soulsالْكُفَّارِof the disbelieversيُذْهَبُare takenبِهَاwith themإِلَىtoسِجِّينٍSijjin,,وَأَرْوَاحُAnd the soulsالْمُؤْمِنِينَof the believersوَالشُّهَدَاءِand the martyrsإِلَىtoعَلِيِّينَthe `Illiyyinكَمَاasفِيinبَحْرِthe seaالْكَلَامِof speech*
So the souls of the disbelievers are taken to Sijjin, and the souls of the believers and martyrs [are taken] to `Illiyyin, as in the sea of speech.*
(فَصْلٌ)(Chapter)(مَوْضِعُ(The placeالسَّدْرَةِof the Sidrahوَمَوْضِعُand the placeجَهَنَّمَof Hellوَالسِّجِّينِ)and Sijjin)
(Chapter) (The place of the Sidrah and the place of Hell and Sijjin)
مِيزَانٌThe scaleيَوْمَof the Dayالْقِيَامَةِof Resurrection
The scale of the Day of Resurrection
مَحَلٌّThe placeالْحَسَنَاتِof the good deedsوَالْمِيزَانِand the scale
The place of the good deeds and the scale
قَالَThe authorالمُصَنفُthe compilerأَبُوAbuحَنِيفَةٌHanifaرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهAllahعَنْهُwith him:(وَنُقِرُّ(And we acknowledgeبِأَنَّthatالْمَوَازِينَthe scalesحَقٌّare trueلِقَوْلِهِas His wordsتَعَالَىthe Almightyوَنَضَعُand We will placeالْمَوَازِينَthe scalesالْقِسْطَin justiceلِيَوْمِfor the Dayالْقِيَامَةِof Resurrection
The author Abu Hanifa may Allah be pleased with him said: (And we acknowledge that the scales are true as His words, the Almighty: 'And We will place the scales in justice for the Day of Resurrection.'
أَقُولُI say:الْمِيزَانُThe scaleحَقٌّis trueلِلْكُفَّارِfor the disbelieversوَالْمُسْلِمِينَand the Muslimsوَهُوَand it isعِبَارَةٌis an indicationعَمَّof whatيُعْرَفُis knownبِهِby itمَقَادِيرُthe measuresالْأَعْمَالِof actionsوَتُوْزَنُand are weighedبِهِby itأَعْمَالُهُمْtheir deedsخَيْرًاwhether goodكَانَorأَوْorشَرًّاevilكَذَاthusذَكَرَهُmentionedالشَّارِحُthe commentator
I say: The scale is true for the disbelievers and the Muslims, and it is an indication of what is known by it—the measures of actions, and their deeds are weighed by it, whether good or evil, thus the commentator has mentioned.
وَعَنْAnd aboutابْنِIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهAllahعَنْهُمَاwith them bothأَنَّهُthat he saidلَاNoتُكْتَبُis writtenالْحَسَنَاتُthe good deedsفِيinصَحِيفَةٍthe recordوَتُوْضَعُand placedفِيinكُفَّةٍone panوَالْسَّيِّئَاتُand the bad deedsفِيinكُفَّةٍthe other panأُخْرَىanother
And about Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: No good deeds are written in a record and placed in one pan, and the bad deeds in another pan.
*وَقَالَAnd Muhammad said«"مُحَمَّدٌMuhammadبِنْibnعَلِيٍّAliالتَّرْمَذِيُّ:al-Tirmidhi:يُوزَنُWeighsالْعَمَلُthe deedمِنْfromغَيْرِwithoutرَجُلٍa personأَيٌّthat isيُوزَنُit is weighedعَمَلُهُhis workدُونَwithoutشَخْصِهِhis personفَيَرَىAnd he seesذَلِكَthatكَالنُّورِlike lightوَالشَّمْسِand the sunوَالْقَمَرِand the moonوَهَذَاAnd thisلِلْمُسْلِمِfor the MuslimأَمَّاAs forعَمَلُthe workالْكَافِرِof the disbelieverكَظَّلْمَةِis like darkness
And Muhammad ibn Ali al-Tirmidhi said: "The deed is weighed from a person without reference to his person, so it is seen like light, and the sun, and the moon; and this is for the Muslim. As for the work of the disbeliever, it is like darkness."
