فَإِذَاWhenعَمَلَthe servantصَالِحًاgood deedsاللَّهَfor AllahهَذَاthisهُوَisالإِسْلَامُIslamالَّذِيwhichهُوَisدِينُthe religionاللَّهِof Allah,, وَيَكُونُand it will haveمَعَهُwith himمِنَfromالإِيمَانِthe beliefمَاwhatيُحْشَرُhe will be gatheredبِهِwith itمَعَamongالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersيَوْمَon the Dayالْقِيَامَةِof Resurrection,, ثُمَّthenإِنifكَانَthere wasمَعَهُwith himمِنَfromالذُّنُوبِthe sinsمَاwhatيُعَذَّبُhe will be punishedبِهِwith it,, عُذِّبَhe will be punishedوَأُخْرِجَand taken outمِنَfromالنَّارِthe Fire,, إِذَاifكَانَthere isفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartمِثْقَالُthe weightحَبَّةٍof a mustard seedمِنَofالإِيمَانِfaith,, وَإِنand ifكَانَthere isمَعَهُwith himنِفَاقٌhypocrisy,, وَلِهَذَاand for this reasonقَالَHe saidتَعَالَىthe Most Highفِيinهَؤُلَاءِthese people:: ﴿فَأُولَـٰئِكَIndeed, thoseمَعَare withالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersوَسَوْفَand soonيُؤْتِيHe will giveاللَّهُAllahالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersأَجْرًاa rewardعَظِيمًاgreat﴾[النِّسَاءِAn-Nisa::١٤٥145]فَلَمْSo He did notيَقُلْsay:: إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyمُؤْمِنُونَare believersبِمَجَرَّدِjust byهَذَاthis,, إِذْforلَمْnotيُذْكَرmentionالإِيمَانُthe beliefبِاللَّهِin Allahوَمَلَائِكَتِهِand His angelsوَكُتُبِهِand His booksوَرُسُلِهِand His messengers,, بَلْbutهُمْtheyمَعَهُمْare with them,, وَإِنَّمَاratherذُكِرَmentionedالْعَمَلُthe deedالصَّالِحُgoodوَإِخْلَاصُهُand sincerityلِلَّهِto Allah,, وَقَالَand he said:: ﴿فَأُولَـٰئِكَIndeed, thoseمَعَare withالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersفَيَكُونُso they will haveلَهُمْfor themحُكْمُهُمْtheir ruling.. وَقَدAnd indeedبَيَّنَHe clarifiedتَفَاضُلَthe preferenceالْمُؤْمِنِينَof the believersفِيinمَوَاضِعَplacesأُخَرَother,, وَأَنْand thatمَنْwhoeverأَتَىcomes withبِالْإِيمَانِthe required faithالْوَاجِبِnecessaryاسْتَحَقَّhas earnedالثَّوَابَthe rewardوَمَنْand whoeverكَانَisفِيْهِin himشُعْبَةٌa branchنِفَاقٍof hypocrisyوَأَتَىand came withبِالْكَبَائِرِthe major sins,, فَذَاكَthat oneمِنْis fromأَهْلِthe people ofالْوَعِيدِthreat,, وَإِيمَانُهُand his beliefيَنْفَعُهُwill benefit himاللَّهُAllahبِهِwith itوَيَخْرُجُهُand will take him outبِهِwith itمِنَfromالنَّارِthe Fire,, وَلَوْeven ifأَنَّهُhe hasمِثْقَالُthe weightحَبَّةٍof a mustard seedلِلْإِيمَانِof faith,, لَكِنَّbutلَاnotيَسْتَحِقُّhe deservesبِهِwith itالِاسْمَthe nameالْمُطْلَقَthe absoluteالْمُعَلَّقَattachedبِهِto whichوَعْدُpromiseالْجَنَّةِof Paradiseبِلاَwithoutعَذَابٍpunishment,, وَتَمَامُand completingهَذَاthisأَنَّthatالنَّاسَthe peopleقَدmayيَكُونُواbeفِيْهِمُamong themمِنْofمَعَهُwith himشُعْبَةٌa branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالإِيمَانِof belief,, وَشُعْبَةٌand a branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالْكُفْرِof disbeliefأَوْorالنِّفَاقِhypocrisy,, مُسْلِمًاa Muslim,, كَمَاasنَصَّit has been statedعَلَيْهِby himأَحْمَدُAhmad.. وَيُسَمَّىAnd he is calledوَتَمَامُand completingهَذَاthisأَنَّthatالْإِنْسَانَa personقَدmayيَكُونَbeفِيْهِin himشُعْبَةٌa branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالإِيمَانِof belief,, وَشُعْبَةٌand a branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالنِّفَاقِhypocrisyوَقَدand may haveيَكُونَbeمُسْلِمًاa Muslimوَفِيْهِand in himكُفْرٌdisbeliefدُونَless thanالكُفْرِdisbeliefالَّذِيwhichيُنْقَلُtransfersعَنْfromالإِسْلَامِIslamبِالْكُلِّيَّةِentirely,, كَمَاasقَالَsaidالصَّحَابَةُthe Companions(۱)(1) ابْنُIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasوَغَيْرِهُand othersكَفَرَdisbeliefدُونَless thanكُفْرٍdisbelief,, وَهَذَاand thisقَوْلٌsayingعَامَّةٌof generalالسَّلَفِthe predecessors,, وَهُوَand it isالَّذِيwhatنُصَّit has been statedعَلَيْهِby himأَحْمَدُAhmadوَغَيْرُهُand othersمِمَّنْfrom those whoقَالَsaidفِيaboutالسَّارِقِthe thief,, وَالشَّارِبِand the drinker,, وَنَحْوِهِمand those like themمِمَّنْfrom those whoقَالَsaidفِيabout himالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetﷺpbuh:: إِنَّهُIndeed, heلَيْسَis notبِمُؤْمِنٍa believer،, أَنَّهُthat he isيُقَالُis saidلَهُمْto them:: مُسْلِمُونَMuslimsلَاnotمُؤْمِنُونَbelievers,, وَاسْتَدَلُّواand they supported their argumentبِالْقُرْآنِwith the Quranوَالسُّنَّةِand Sunnahعَلَىforنَفْيِthe negationاسْمِthe nameالإِيمَانِof belief,, مَعَwhileإِثْبَاتِaffirmingاسْمِthe nameالإِسْلَامِof Islam,, وَبِأَنَّand thatالرَّجُلَa manقَدmayيَكُونَbeمُسْلِمًاa Muslimوَمَعَهُwith himكُفْرٌdisbeliefلَاnotيُنْقَلُtransfersعَنْfromالْمِلَّةِthe religion,, بَلْbutكُفْرٌdisbeliefدُونَless thanكُفْرٍdisbelief,, كَمَاasقَالَsaidابْنُIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasوَأَصْحَابُهُand his companionsفِيinقَوْلِهِhis saying:: ﴿وَمَنْAnd whoeverلَمْdoes notيَحْكُمruleبِمَاby whatأَنزَلَhas descendedاللَّهُAllah,, فَأُولَـٰئِكَthen indeed, thoseهُمُthey areالْكَافِرُونَthe disbelievers
When the servant does good deeds for Allah, this is the Islam which is the religion of Allah, and it will have with him from the belief that he will be gathered with the believers on the Day of Resurrection. Then if there is with him from the sins that he will be punished with, he will be punished and taken out from the Fire, if there is in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of faith, and if there is with him hypocrisy, and for this reason He (the Most High) said about these people: "Indeed, those are with the believers, and soon Allah will give the believers a great reward." (An-Nisa: 145). He did not say: Indeed, they are believers just by this, for He did not mention the belief in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, but they are with them, and He only mentioned the good deeds and their sincerity to Allah, and He said: "Indeed, those are with the believers, so they will have their ruling.
وَقَدAnd indeedبَيَّنَHe clarifiedتَفَاضُلَthe preferenceالْمُؤْمِنِينَof the believersفِيinمَوَاضِعَplacesأُخَرَother,, وَأَنْand thatمَنْwhoeverأَتَىcomes withبِالْإِيمَانِthe required faithالْوَاجِبِnecessaryاسْتَحَقَّhas earnedالثَّوَابَthe rewardوَمَنْand whoeverكَانَisفِيْهِin himشُعْبَةٌa branchنِفَاقٍof hypocrisyوَأَتَىand came withبِالْكَبَائِرِthe major sins,, فَذَاكَthat oneمِنْis fromأَهْلِthe people ofالْوَعِيدِthreat,, وَإِيمَانُهُand his beliefيَنْفَعُهُwill benefit himاللَّهُAllahبِهِwith itوَيَخْرُجُهُand will take him outبِهِwith itمِنَfromالنَّارِthe Fire,, وَلَوْeven ifأَنَّهُhe hasمِثْقَالُthe weightحَبَّةٍof a mustard seedلِلْإِيمَانِof faith,, لَكِنَّbutلَاnotيَسْتَحِقُّhe deservesبِهِwith itالِاسْمَthe nameالْمُطْلَقَthe absoluteالْمُعَلَّقَattachedبِهِto whichوَعْدُpromiseالْجَنَّةِof Paradiseبِلاَwithoutعَذَابٍpunishment,, وَتَمَامُand completingهَذَاthisأَنَّthatالنَّاسَthe peopleقَدmayيَكُونُواbeفِيْهِمُamong themمِنْofمَعَهُwith himشُعْبَةٌa branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالإِيمَانِof belief,, وَشُعْبَةٌand a branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالْكُفْرِof disbeliefأَوْorالنِّفَاقِhypocrisy,, مُسْلِمًاa Muslim,, كَمَاasنَصَّit has been statedعَلَيْهِby himأَحْمَدُAhmad.. وَيُسَمَّىAnd he is calledوَتَمَامُand completingهَذَاthisأَنَّthatالْإِنْسَانَa personقَدmayيَكُونَbeفِيْهِin himشُعْبَةٌa branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالإِيمَانِof belief,, وَشُعْبَةٌand a branchمِنْofشُعَبِthe branchesالنِّفَاقِhypocrisyوَقَدand may haveيَكُونَbeمُسْلِمًاa Muslimوَفِيْهِand in himكُفْرٌdisbeliefدُونَless thanالكُفْرِdisbeliefالَّذِيwhichيُنْقَلُtransfersعَنْfromالإِسْلَامِIslamبِالْكُلِّيَّةِentirely,, كَمَاasقَالَsaidالصَّحَابَةُthe Companions(۱)(1) ابْنُIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasوَغَيْرِهُand othersكَفَرَdisbeliefدُونَless thanكُفْرٍdisbelief,, وَهَذَاand thisقَوْلٌsayingعَامَّةٌof generalالسَّلَفِthe predecessors,, وَهُوَand it isالَّذِيwhatنُصَّit has been statedعَلَيْهِby himأَحْمَدُAhmadوَغَيْرُهُand othersمِمَّنْfrom those whoقَالَsaidفِيaboutالسَّارِقِthe thief,, وَالشَّارِبِand the drinker,, وَنَحْوِهِمand those like themمِمَّنْfrom those whoقَالَsaidفِيabout himالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetﷺpbuh:: إِنَّهُIndeed, heلَيْسَis notبِمُؤْمِنٍa believer،, أَنَّهُthat he isيُقَالُis saidلَهُمْto them:: مُسْلِمُونَMuslimsلَاnotمُؤْمِنُونَbelievers,, وَاسْتَدَلُّواand they supported their argumentبِالْقُرْآنِwith the Quranوَالسُّنَّةِand Sunnahعَلَىforنَفْيِthe negationاسْمِthe nameالإِيمَانِof belief,, مَعَwhileإِثْبَاتِaffirmingاسْمِthe nameالإِسْلَامِof Islam,, وَبِأَنَّand thatالرَّجُلَa manقَدmayيَكُونَbeمُسْلِمًاa Muslimوَمَعَهُwith himكُفْرٌdisbeliefلَاnotيُنْقَلُtransfersعَنْfromالْمِلَّةِthe religion,, بَلْbutكُفْرٌdisbeliefدُونَless thanكُفْرٍdisbelief,, كَمَاasقَالَsaidابْنُIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasوَأَصْحَابُهُand his companionsفِيinقَوْلِهِhis saying:: ﴿وَمَنْAnd whoeverلَمْdoes notيَحْكُمruleبِمَاby whatأَنزَلَhas descendedاللَّهُAllah,, فَأُولَـٰئِكَthen indeed, thoseهُمُthey areالْكَافِرُونَthe disbelievers
But he does not deserve with it the absolute name that is attached to the promise of Paradise without punishment. And completing this is that the people may have among them someone with a branch of belief and a branch of disbelief or hypocrisy as a Muslim, as has been stated by Ahmad. And he is called completing this, that a person may have in him a branch of belief and a branch of hypocrisy, and he could be a Muslim and in him disbelief less than the disbelief that entirely removes one from Islam, as Ibn Abbas and his companions said in his statement: "And whoever does not judge by what Allah has descended, then indeed, those they are the disbelievers."
