That every name of these names must follow its designation and title; they are all one even if its attributes vary. Then any attribute that appears, it is necessary to follow its meaning, for it is the meaning of the other. Likewise, the names of Allah, the Exalted, and the names of His Book, and the names of His Messenger, are like the names of His religion.

وَكذلكَAnd likewiseقَوْلُهُHis sayingتَعَالَىthe Exalted::﴿[وَاعْتَصِمُواAnd hold fastبِحَبْلِto the ropeاللَّهِof Allahجَمِيعًاall togetherوَلَاand do notتَفَرَّقُواdivide yourselves][آلَ عِمْرَانَ(Aali Imran:: ١٠]10]قِيلَIt was said:: حَبْلُthe ropeاللَّهِof Allahهُوَisدِينٌthe religionالإِسْلَامِIslam,,,وَقِيلَand it was said:: الْقُرْآنُthe Quran,,,وَقِيلَand it was said:: عَهْدُهُHis covenant,,,وَقِيلَand it was said:: طَاعَتُهُHis obedienceوَأَمْرُهُand His command,,,وَقِيلَand it was said:: جَمَاعَةُthe groupالمُسْلِمِينَof Muslims... وَكُلُّAnd allهَذَاthisحَقٌّis true.

And likewise, His saying, the Exalted: "And hold fast to the rope of Allah all together and do not divide yourselves" [Aali Imran: 10]. It was said: The rope of Allah is the religion of Islam, and it was said: the Quran, and it was said: His covenant, and it was said: His obedience and His command, and it was said: the group of Muslims. All of this is true.

وَكذلكَAnd likewiseإِذَاifقُلْنَاwe say:: الْكِتَابَthe Bookوَالسُّنَّةَand the Sunnahوَالْإِجْمَاعَand the Consensusفَمَدْلُولُthen the meaningالثَّلاثَةِof the threeواحِدٌis one.فَإِنَّFor indeedكُلَّeverythingمَاthatفِيis inالْكِتَابِthe Bookفَالرَّسُولُthe Messengerمُوافِقٌis in agreementلَهُwith it,وَالْأُمَّةُand the Ummah (community)مُجْمَعَةٌis unitedعَلَيْهِupon itمِنْfromحَيْثُin terms ofالجُمْلَةِthe general.فَلَيْسَSo there is noفِيinالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersإِلَّاexceptمَنْwhoيَجِبُmustاتِّبَاعُfollowالْكِتَابَthe Bookوَكذلكَand likewiseكُلَّeverythingمَاthatسَنَّتْwas legislatedالرَّسُولُby the Messengerفَالْقُرْآنُfor the Quranيَأْمُرُcommandsبِاتِّبَاعِهِto follow itفِيهِin itوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَand the believersمَجْمَعُونٌare in agreementعَلَىonذَٰلِكَthat,,وَكذلكَand likewiseكُلَّeverythingمَاthatأَجْمَعَwas agreedعَلَيْهِupon itالْمُسْلِمُونَthe Muslims,فَإِنَّهُfor itلَاthere is notيَكُونَisإِلَّاexceptحَقًّاtruthمُوافِقًاin agreementلِمَاwith whatفِيis inالْكِتَابِthe Bookوَالسُّنَّةِand Sunnah;,,لَكِنَّbutالْمُسْلِمِينَthe Muslimsيَتَلَقَّوْنَreceiveدِينَهُمْtheir religionكُلَّهُin its entiretyعَنْfromالرَّسُولِthe MessengerوَأَمَّاAnd as forالرَّسُولُthe Messengerفَيُنَزَّلُis revealedعَلَيْهِupon himوَحْيُrevelationالْقُرْآنُthe Quran,,,وَوَحْيٌand another revelationآخَرُanotherهُوَisالْحِكْمَةُthe Wisdom,,,كَمَاasقَالَhe said:: أَلَاIndeedإِنِّيI amأُوتِيتُgivenالْكِتَابَthe Bookوَمِثْلَهُand the like of itمَعَهُwith it.,,(١)(1)

And likewise, if we say: the Book, the Sunnah, and the Consensus, then the meaning of the three is one, for everything that is in the Book, the Messenger agrees with, and the Ummah is united upon it in general. Thus, there is no one among the believers except those who must follow the Book, and likewise, everything that the Messenger legislated, the Quran commands to follow it in it, and the believers are united on that. Similarly, everything that the Muslims agreed upon is nothing but truth in agreement with what is in the Book and the Sunnah; but the Muslims receive their religion in its entirety from the Messenger. And as for the Messenger, revelation of the Quran is sent down upon him, and another revelation is the Wisdom, as he said: "Indeed, I have been given the Book and the like of it with it." (1)

And Hassan ibn Atiyah said: Gabriel used to descend upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) with the Sunnah and teaching him it as he teaches him the Quran. (2) So not everything that the Sunnah came with must be explained in the Quran, unlike what is said by the people of consensus, for there must be an indication for it in the Book and the Sunnah; for the Messenger is the intermediary between him and Allah in His command and prohibition, and His making lawful and unlawful, and the intended mention is of faith.
