أَقْوَالُهُHis statementsكُلُّهَاallصِدْقٌtruthوَرَشَدٌand right guidanceوَهُدًىand guidanceوَعَدْلٌand justiceوَحِكْمَةٌand wisdom
All His statements are truth, right guidance, guidance, justice, and wisdom.
وَتَمَّتْAnd is fulfilledكَلِمَةُthe wordرَبِّكَof your Lordصِدْقًاin truthوَعَدْلًاand justice
And the word of your Lord is fulfilled in truth and justice.
وَأَفْعَالُهُAnd His actionsكُلُّهَاallمَصَالِحُare benefitsوَحُكْمٌand wisdomوَرَحْمَةٌand mercyوَعَدْلٌand justiceوَخَيْرٌand good
And all His actions are benefits, wisdom, mercy, justice, and good.
فَالشَّرُّSo evilلَاdoes notيَدْخُلُenterفِيintoأَفْعَالِهِHis actionsوَلَاnorأَقْوَالِهِHis statementsأَلْبَتَّةَat all
So evil does not enter into His actions nor His statements at all.
لِخُرُوجِBecause of the departureالشَّرِّof evilعَنْfromالصِّرَاطِthe pathالمُسْتَقِيمِthe straight
Because evil is far from the straight path.
فَكَيْفَSo howيَدْخُلُcould it enterفِيintoأَفْعَالِthe actionsمِنْof one whoهُوَisعَلَىuponالصِّرَاطِthe pathالمُسْتَقِيمِthe straightأوorأَقْوَالِهِhis statements
So how could it enter into the actions of one who is upon the straight path, or his statements?
وَإِنَّمَاIt onlyيَدْخُلُentersفِيintoأَفْعَالِthe actionsمِنْof one whoخَرَجَhas deviatedعَنْهُfrom itوَفِيand intoأَقْوَالِهِhis statements
It only enters into the actions of one who has deviated from it, and into his statements.
وَفِيAnd inدُعَائِهِhis supplicationعَلَيْهِupon himالصَّلَاةُpeaceوَالسَّلَامُand blessingsلَبَّيْكَHere I am in response to Youوَسُعَيْدَيْكَand good fortune is with Youوَالْخَيْرَand all goodكُلَّهُis allبِيدَيْكَin Your two hands
And in his supplication, peace and blessings be upon him: Here I am in response to You and good fortune is with You, and all good is in Your two hands.
وَالشَّرُّand evilلَيْسَis notإِلَيْكَattributed to Youوَلَاnorيَلْتَفِتُis given regardإِلَىtoتَفْسِيرِthe interpretationمِنْof those whoفَسَّرَهُinterpreted itبِقَوْلِهِby sayingوَالشَّرُّand evilلَاdoes notيَتَقَرَّبُdraw nearبِهِby it
And evil is not attributed to You, nor is regard given to the interpretation of those who interpreted it by saying: and evil does not draw near by it.
فَإِنَّFor indeedالمَعْنَىthe meaningأَجَلٌis more sublimeمِنْthanذَلِكَthatوَأَكْبَرُand greaterوَأَعْظَمُand mightierقَدْرًاin status
For indeed the meaning is more sublime than that, and greater and mightier in status.
فَإِنَّFor indeedمِنْofأَسْمَائِهِHis namesكُلَّهَاall of themحُسْنَىare beautifulوَأَوْصَافِهِand His attributesكُلَّهَاall of themكَمَالٌare perfection
For indeed all His names are beautiful, and all His attributes are perfection.
وَأَفْعَالُهُAnd His actionsكُلُّهَاall of themحُكْمٌare wisdom
And all His actions are wisdom.
وَأَقْوَالُهُAnd His statementsكُلُّهَاall of themصِدْقٌare truthوَعَدْلٌand justice
And all His statements are truth and justice.
يَسْتَحِيلُIt is impossibleدُخُولُfor the entryالشَّرِّof evilفِيintoأَسْمَائِهِHis namesأوorأَوْصَافِهِHis attributesأوorأَفْعَالِهِHis actionsأوorأَقْوَالِهِHis statements
It is impossible for evil to enter into His names, or His attributes, or His actions, or His statements.
فَطَابِقْSo matchبَيْنَbetweenهَذَاthisالمَعْنَىmeaningوَبَيْنَand betweenقَوْلِهِHis sayingإِنَّIndeedرَبِّيmy Lordعَلَىis uponصِرَاطٍa pathمُسْتَقِيمٍstraight
So match between this meaning and His saying: Indeed my Lord is upon a straight path.
وَتَأَمَّلْAnd contemplateكَيْفَhowذَكَرَHe mentionedهَذَاthisعَقِيبَfollowingقَوْلِهِHis sayingإِنِّيIndeed Iتَوَكَّلْتُhave reliedعَلَىuponاللَّهِAllahرَبِّيmy Lordوَرَبَّكُمْand your Lord
And contemplate how He mentioned this following His saying: Indeed I have relied upon Allah, my Lord and your Lord.
أَيThat isهُوَHe isرَبِّيmy Lordفَلَاso He will notيُسَلِّمُنِيabandon meوَلَاnorيُضَيِّعُنِيlet me be lost
That is, He is my Lord, so He will not abandon me nor let me be lost.
وَهُوَAnd He isرَبُّكُمْyour Lordفَلَاso He will notيُسَلِّطُكُمempower youعَلَيَّover meوَلَاnorيُمَكِّنُكُمْallow youمِنِّيover me
And He is your Lord, so He will not empower you over me nor allow you over me.
فَإِنَّFor indeedنَوَاصِيَكُمyour forelocksبِيدهare in His handلَاyou do notْتَفْعَلُونَdoشَيْئًاanythingبِدُونِwithoutمَشِيئَتِهِHis will
For indeed your forelocks are in His hand; you do not do anything without His will.
فَإِنَّFor indeedنَاصِيَةُthe forelockكُلِّof everyدَابَّةٍcreatureبِيَدِهِis in His handلَاit is notيُمْكِنُهَاpossible for itأَنْtoتَتَحَرَّكَmoveإِلَّاexceptبِإِذْنِهِwith His permission
For indeed the forelock of every creature is in His hand; it is not possible for it to move except with His permission.
فَهُوَSo He isالمُتَصَرِّفُthe disposerفِيهاover itوَبِتَصَرُّفِهِand through His disposalوَتَحْرِيكِهَاand His movement of itوَنُفُوذِand the executionقَضَائِهِof His decreeوَقَدَرِهِand His destinyفِيهاin it
So He is the disposer over it, and through His disposal and His movement of it, and the execution of His decree and His destiny in it.
صِرَاطٌa pathمُسْتَقِيمٌstraight
A straight path.
لَاHe does notيَفْعَلُdoمَاwhatيَفْعَلُHe doesمِنْofذَلِكَthatإِلَّاexceptبِحِكْمَةٍwith wisdomوَعَدْلٍand justiceوَمَصْلَحَةٍand benefit
He does not do what He does of that except with wisdom, justice, and benefit.
وَلَوْAnd ifسَلَّطَكُمHe empowered youعَلَيَّover meفَلَهُthen for Him isمِنْofالحِكْمَةِwisdomفِيinذَلِكَthatمَاwhatلَهُfor Him isالْحَمْدُthe praiseعَلَيْهِupon it
And if He empowered you over me, then for Him is wisdom in that, and for Him is the praise upon it.
لَأَنَّهُBecause it isتَسْلِيطٌan empowermentمِنْby one whoهُوَis uponصِرَاطٍa pathمُسْتَقِيمٍstraight
Because it is an empowerment by one who is upon a straight path.
لَاHe does notيَظْلِمُoppressوَلَاnorيَفْعَلُdoes He doشَيْئًاanythingعَبَثًاin vainبِغَيْرِwithoutحِكْمَةٍwisdom
He does not oppress nor does He do anything in vain without wisdom.
فَفَهَكَذَاThusتَكُونُisالمَعْرِفَةُthe knowledgeبِاللَّهِof Allahلَاnotمَعْرِفَةَthe knowledgeالْقَدَرِيَّةِof the Qadariyyahالْمَجُوسِيَّةِthe Magianوَالْقَدَرِيَّةُand the Qadariyyahالْجَبْرِيَّةُthe Jabriyyahنُفَاةُthe deniersالحُكْمِof wisdomوَالْمَصَالِحِand benefitsوَالتَّعْلِيلِand underlying reasons
Thus is the knowledge of Allah, not the knowledge of the Magian Qadariyyah, and the Jabriyyah Qadariyyah, the deniers of wisdom, benefits, and underlying reasons.
وَاللَّهُAnd Allahالمُوَفِّقُis the Grantor of successسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to Him
And Allah, glory be to Him, is the Grantor of success.
