ٱلْوُصُولُReachingإلىtoٱلْمَسْجِدِthe mosque,,حَتَّىuntilفَاتَهُhe missedالصَّلَاةَthe prayer..

Reaching the mosque, until he missed the prayer.

وَرُبَّمَاAnd perhapsكَانَwasٱلرَّجُلُthe manأَقْوَىٰstrongerمِنْthanشَيْطَانِthe Devilٱلْإِنْسِof mankind,,وَلَكِنَّbutٱشْتَعَلَhe got busyبِمُهَوَشَتِهِwith his bickeringعَنfromٱلصَّفِّthe rowٱلْأَوَّلِthe first,,وَكَمَالِand the completenessإِدْرَاكِof understandingٱلْجَمَاعَةِthe congregation..

And perhaps the man was stronger than the Devil of mankind, but he got busy with his bickering from the first row, and the completeness of understanding of the congregation.

فَإِنَّIndeed, ifٱلْتَفَتَhe turned his attentionإِلَيْهِto him,,أَطْمَعَهُit encouraged himفِيinنَفْسِهِhimself..

Indeed, if he turned his attention to him, it encouraged him in himself.

وَرُبَّمَاAnd perhapsفَتَرَتْhis determination weakenedعَزِيمَتَهُhis resolve..

And perhaps his determination weakened.

فَإِنَّSo ifكَانَhe hadلَهُfor himمَعْرِفَةًknowledgeوَعِلْمًاand knowledge,,زَادَhe increasedفِيinٱلسَّعْيِthe effortوَالْجَمْزِand the speed(١)(1)بِقَدْرِto the extent ofٱلْتَفَتَاهُhis turningأَوorأَكْثَرَmore...

So if he had knowledge and understanding, he increased in effort and speed (1) to the extent of his turning or more.

فَإِنَّSo ifأَعْرَضَhe turned awayعَنْهُfrom him,,وَٱشْتَغَلَand got busyبِمَاwith whatهُوَhe isبِصَدَدِهِdealing with,,وَخَافَand fearedفَوْتَmissingٱلصَّلَاةَthe prayerأَوorٱلْوَقْتَthe time::لَمْhe did notيَبْلُغْreachعَدُوَّهُhis enemyمِنْهُfrom himمَاwhatشَاءَhe wanted...

So if he turned away from him, and got busy with what he is dealing with, and feared missing the prayer or the time: he did not reach his enemy from him what he wanted.

ٱلْمَثَلُThe exampleٱلثَّانِيthe second::ٱلظَّبِيُّThe deerأَشَدُّis strongerسَعْيًاin runningمِنْthanٱلْكَلْبِthe dogوَلَكِنَّهُbut itإِذَاifأَحَسَّfeltبِهِitٱلْتَفَتَturnsإِلَيْهِto itفَيُضْعَفُit weakensسَعْيُهُits effort...

The example the second: The deer is stronger in running than the dog, but if it felt it, it turns to it and weakens its effort.

فَيُدْرِكُهُso the dog catches itٱلْكَلْبُthe dogفَيَأْخُذُهُthen takes it...

So the dog catches it and then takes it.

وَٱلْقَصْدُAnd the intent::أَنْis thatفِيinذِكْرِmentioningهَذَاthisٱلرَّفِيقُcompanion::مَاwhatيُزِيلُremovesوَحْشَةَlonelinessٱلْتَّفَرُّدِof solitude,,وَيُحَثُّand encouragesعَلَىtoٱلسَّيْرِtravelوَٱلتَّشْمِيرِand preparationلِٱلْحَاقِto catch upبِهِمwith them...

And the intent is that in mentioning this companion: what removes the loneliness of solitude and encourages travel and preparation to catch up with them.

وَهَذِهِAnd thisإِحْدَىis one ofٱلْفَوَائِدِthe benefitsفِيinدُعَاءِthe supplicationٱلْقُنُوتِof Qunoot.ٱللَّهُمَّO Allahٱهْدِنِيguide meفِيْمَنamong those whomهَدَيْتَYou have guided,,أَيthat isأَدْخِلْنِيadmit meفِيinهَذِهِthisٱلزُّمَرَةِgroup,,,وَاجْعَلْنِيand make meرَفِيقًاa companionلَهُمْfor themوَمَعَهُمْand with them...

And this is one of the benefits in the supplication of Qunoot, 'O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided,' that is, admit me in this group, and make me a companion for them and with them.

وَٱلْفَائِدَةُAnd the second benefitٱلثَّانِيَةُis that::أَنَّهُthat heتَوَسَّلَintercededإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahبِنِعْمَتِهِby His graceوَإِحْسَانِهِand good doingsإِلَىtoمَنْwhomأَنْعَمْتَYou have grantedعَلَيْهِto himبِٱلْهَدَايَةِwith guidanceأَيthat isقَدْindeedأَنْعَمْتَYou have bestowedبِٱلْهَدَايَةِwith guidanceعَلَىonمَنْwhomهَدَيْتَYou guided,,وَكَانَand wasذَٰلِكَthatنِعْمَةًa giftمِنكَfrom You.فَاجْعَلْSo makeلِيfor meنَصِيبًاa shareمِنْofهَذِهِthisٱلنِّعْمَةِblessing,,,وَاجْعَلْنِيand make meوَاحِدًاoneمِنْofهَـٰؤُلَـاءِtheseٱلْمُنْعَمِ عَلَيْهِمbestowed upon...

And the second benefit: that he interceded to Allah by His grace and good doings to those whom You have granted guidance, that is, indeed You have bestowed guidance on those whom You guided, and that was a gift from You. So make for me a share of this blessing, and make me one of those bestowed upon.

فَهُوَSo heتَوَسَّلَintercedesإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahبِإِحْسَانِهِby His goodness...

So he intercedes to Allah by His goodness.

وَٱلْفَائِدَةُAnd the third benefitٱلثَّالِثَةُis that::كَمَاasيَقُولُthe one who asks saysٱلسَّائِلُthe questionerلِلْكَرِيمِto the generous person::تَصَدَّقْbe generousعَلَيَّto meفِيinجُمْلَةٍthe groupمِمَّنofتَصَدَّقْتَwhom you have been generousعَلَيْهِمupon.,,وَعَلِّمْنِيand teach meفِيinجُمْلَةٍthe groupمِمَّنofعَلَّمْتَهُwhom you have taughtوَأَحْسِنْand be goodإِلَىtoفِيthe groupمِمَّنofشَمَلْتَهُمthose whom you have encompassedبِإِحْسَانِكَwith your goodness...

And the third benefit is that as the one who asks says to the generous person: 'be generous to me in the group whom you have been generous upon, and teach me in the group of those whom you have taught, and be good to me in the group of those whom you have encompassed with your goodness.'
