فَإِنْSo ifيَخْرُجُواthey go outمِنْهَاfrom itفَإِنَّاthen indeed weدَاخِلُوْنَare entering.
So if they go out from it, then indeed we are entering.
قَالَSaidرَجُلَانِtwo menمِنَfromالَّذِيْنَthose whoيَخَافُونَfear
Said two men from those who fear
أَنْعَمَfavoredاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمَاupon themادْخُلُواEnterعَلَيْهِمُupon themالْبَابَthe gate
whom Allah had favored: 'Enter upon them through the gate;
فَإِذَاand whenدَخَلْتُمُوْهُyou have entered itفَإِنَّكُمْthen indeed youغَالِبُونَwill be victorious.
and when you have entered it, then indeed you will be victorious.
وَعَلَىAnd uponاللَّهِAllahفَتَوَكَّلُواthen relyإِنْifكُنْتُمْyou areمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers.
And upon Allah, then rely if you are believers.'
وَلَكِنَّButذَلِكَthatلَمْdid notيُؤَثِّرْaffectفِيهِمْthem
But that did not affect them
وَقَالُواand they said
and they said:
إِذَاIfكَانَit isلَاnoبُدَّalternativeمِنَfromالدُّخُولِentering
'If it is inevitable that we must enter,
فَادْخُلْthen enterأَنْتَyouبِمُعْجِزَةٍwith a miracle
then you enter with a miracle,
فَإِذَاso ifسَمِعْنَاwe hearأَنَّكَthat youقَدْhaveدَخَلْتَهَاentered it
so if we hear that you have entered it,
جِئْنَاwe will comeفَدَخَلْنَاand we will enterنَحْنُweأَيْضاًalsoآمِنِينَsafeسَالِمِينَand sound.
we will come and we will enter too, safe and sound.'
قَالُوْاThey saidيَاOمُوْسَىMosesإِنَّاindeed weلَنْwill neverنَّدْخُلَهَاenter itأَبَدًاever
'They said, 'O Moses, indeed we will never enter it ever
مَّاas long asدَامُوْاthey remainفِيْهَاin it.فَاذْهَبْSo goأَنْتَyouوَرَبُّكَand your Lordفَقَاتِلَاand fight.
as long as they remain in it. So go, you and your Lord, and fight.
إِنَّاIndeed weهُهُنَاhereقَاعِدُونَwill sit.
Indeed we here will sit.'
هُنَالِكَThereuponغَضِبَbecame angryمُوسَىMosesوَيَئِسَand despairedمِنْfromهَؤُلَاءِthese.
Thereupon Moses became angry and despaired of these.
قَالَSaidرَبِّMy Lordإِنِّيindeed Iلَاnotأَمْلِكُpossessإِلَّاexceptنَفْسِيmyselfوَأَخِيand my brother.
'Said, 'My Lord, indeed I possess not except myself and my brother.
فَافْرُقْSo distinguishبَيْنَنَاbetween usوَبَيْنَand betweenالْقَوْمِthe peopleالْفَاسِقِينَthe wicked.
So distinguish between us and between the wicked people.'
قَالَSaidفَإِنَّهَاthen indeed itمُحَرَّمَةٌis forbiddenعَلَيْهِمْupon themأَرْبَعِينَfortyسَنَةًyears
'Said, 'Then indeed it is forbidden upon them for forty years;
يَتِيهُونَthey wanderفِيinالْأَرْضِthe earth.فَلَاSo do notتَأْسَgrieveعَلَىoverالْقَوْمِthe peopleالْفَاسِقِينَthe wicked.
they will wander in the earth. So do not grieve over the wicked people.'
وَفِيAnd inهَذِهِthisالْمُدَّةِperiodيَمُوتُdiesهَذَاthisالْجِيلُgeneration
And in this period, this generation dies
الَّذِيthatنَشَأَgrew upفِيinمِصْرَEgyptعَلَىuponالْعُبُودِيَّةِslaveryوَالذُّلِّand humiliation,
that grew up in Egypt upon slavery and humiliation,
وَيَنْشَأُand grows upجِيلٌa generationآخَرُanotherيَنْشَأُgrowing upفِيinهَذَاthisالتِّيهِwandering
and another generation grows up in this wandering
عَلَىuponالشِّدَّةِhardshipوَالْعُسْرِand difficulty.
upon hardship and difficulty.
وَتِلْكَAnd thatأُمَّةُis the nationالْمُسْتَقْبَلِof the future,وَهَذَاand thisهُوَisمَصِيرُthe fateالْيَهُودِof the Jews
And that is the nation of the future, and this is the fate of the Jews
فِيinكُلِّeveryزَمَانٍtime,أُمَّةٌa nationتَائِهَةٌwanderingتَعِيشُlivingعَلَىonالْعُبُودِيَّةِslaveryوَالذُّلِّand humiliation.
in every time, a wandering nation living on slavery and humiliation.
