قَالَSaidالنَّبِيُّthe Prophet::
The Prophet said:
مِنْfromأَمْرِهِمَاtheir command
from their command.
اللهُAllah
Allah
مُوسَىMosesلَوَدِدْنَاwe would have wishedلَوْifصَبَرَhe had been patientحَتَّىuntilيَقُصَّhe narratedعَلَيْنَاto us
Moses: 'We would have wished if he had been patient until he narrated to us'.
١٩19--التَّأْوِيلُThe Interpretation
19 - The Interpretation
ثُمَّThenنَبَّأَinformedالْخَضِرُAl-KhidrمُوسَىMoses
Then Al-Khidr informed Moses
فَقَالَand said::
and said:
أَمَّاAs forالسَّفِينَةُthe ship
As for the ship
فَكَانَتْit wasلِمَسَاكِينَfor poor peopleيَعْمَلُونَwho worked
it was for poor people who worked
فِيinالْبَحْرِthe sea
in the sea
فَأَرَدْتُso I intendedأَنْtoأَعِيبَهَاdamage it
so I intended to damage it
وَكَانَand there wasوَرَاءَهُمْbehind themمَلِكٌa king
and there was behind them a king
يَأْخُذُwho was takingكُلَّeveryسَفِينَةٍship
who was taking every ship
صَالِحَةٍsoundغَصْبًاby force
sound by force.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالْغُلَامُthe boy
And as for the boy
فَكَانَhe wasأَبَوَاهُhis parentsمُؤْمِنَيْنِbelievers
he was his parents believers
فَخَشِينَاso We fearedأَنْthatيُرْهِقَهُمَاhe would burden them
so We feared that he would burden them
طُغْيَانًاwith transgressionوَكُفْرًاand disbelief
with transgression and disbelief.
فَأَرَدْنَاSo We intendedأَنْthatيُبْدِلَهُمَاshould substitute for them
So We intended that should substitute for them
رَبُّهُمَاtheir Lordخَيْرًاbetter
their Lord better
مِنْهُthan himزَكَاةًin purityوَأَقْرَبَand closer
than him in purity and closer
رُحْمًاin mercy
in mercy.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالْجِدَارُthe wall
And as for the wall
فَكَانَit wasلِغُلَامَيْنِfor two boys
it was for two boys
يَتِيمَيْنِorphanفِيinالْمَدِينَةِthe city
orphan in the city
وَكَانَand was
and was
تَحْتَهُbeneath itكَنْزٌa treasure
beneath it a treasure
لَهُمَاfor them
for them.
وَكَانَAnd wasأَبُوهُمَاtheir fatherصَالِحًاrighteous
And their father was righteous
فَأَرَادَso intendedرَبُّكَyour Lord
so your Lord intended
أَنْthatيَبْلُغَاthey reach
that they reach
أَشُدَّهُمَاtheir maturity
their maturity
وَيَسْتَخْرِجَاand extract
and extract
كَنْزَهُمَاtheir treasure
their treasure
رَحْمَةًas a mercy
as a mercy
مِنْfrom
from
رَبِّكَyour Lord
your Lord.
وَمَاAnd notفَعَلْتُهُI did it
And I did not do it
عَنْuponأَمْرِيmy command
upon my command.
ذَلِكَThat isتَأْوِيلُthe interpretationمَاof that which
That is the interpretation of that which
لَمْnotتَسْطِعْyou were ableعَلَيْهِover it
you were able over it
صَبْرًاpatience
patience.
هُنَالِكَThereعَرَفَknewمُوسَىMoses
There Moses knew
أَنَّthatأَحَدًاno one
that no one
لَاcanيَسْتَطِيعُis ableأَنْto
is able to
يُحِيطَcomprehendبِعِلْمِthe knowledge of
comprehend the knowledge of
اللَّهِAllah
Allah
وَأَنَّand thatبَعْضَsome
and that some
عِلْمِهِof His knowledge
of His knowledge
عِنْدَis withبَعْضٍsome
is with some
وَبَعْضَهُand some of itعِنْدَis withبَعْضٍothers
and some of it is with others
وَفَوْقَAnd aboveكُلِّeveryذِيpossessor of
And above every possessor of
عِلْمٍknowledgeعَلِيمٌis Knowing
knowledge is Knowing.
٢٠20--بَنُوThe Children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsraelبَعْدَafterمُوسَىMoses
20 - The Children of Israel after Moses
وَتُوفِّيَAnd diedمُوسَىMoses
And Moses died
وَبَنُوand the Children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael
and the Children of Israel
يَتِيهُونَwere wanderingفِيinالْأَرْضِthe earth
were wandering in the earth
عِقَابًاas a punishmentمِنَfromاللَّهِAllah
as a punishment from Allah
