Suddenly, Henry's battalion stopped at a close distance, and they fired a barrage of bullets that scattered over the enemy soldiers in its wake, but they continued the fighting.

The battalion released another shout, then they rushed towards the enemy.

Henry saw some enemy soldiers fighting until the end and one of them carrying the flag.

It was a terrible battle; the face of the bearer of the flag was covered with anger and he clung to it even while he was stumbling and falling to the ground.

The loud sounds from around them started decreasing, and they became heard except at distant intervals.

It seemed that he would hear a new noise.

وَوَضَعَAnd putيَدَهُhis handالْمُتَّسِخَةَdirtyعَلَىonعَيْنَيْهِhis eyesوَنَظَرَand lookedإِلَىatالْحَقْلِ.the field.

And put his dirty hand on his eyes and looked at the field.

وَقَفَStoodوَيْلْسُونُWilsonهُوَheالْآخَرُthe otherوَحَدَّقَand staredالنَّظَرَ.at the sight.

Wilson, the other, stood and stared at the sight.

قَالَ:He said:«أَنَا"I amمُتَأَكِّدٌsureأَنَّنَاthat weسَنُغَادِرُwill leaveهَذَاthisالْمَكَانَ،place,وَنَعُودُand returnثَانِيَةًagainإِلَىtoالنَّهْرِ»the river"

He said: "I am sure that we will leave this place, and return again to the river"

They waited and watched, and after a little the battalion received the orders to return from where they came.
