قُلْتَI said(١)وَمَثَلُAnd similarهَذَاthisالْكَلَامُspeechيُقْصَدُis intendedبِهِby itالتَّعْبِيرُexpressionعَنْaboutعَدَمِlack ofالْنِهَايَةِendوَالنَّفَادِand depletionوَالِانْقِضَائِand extinction.
I said (1): And similar speech is intended to express the lack of end, depletion, and extinction.
وَالْمُرَادُAnd the intendedأَنَّis thatكَلِمَاتِthe words ofاللَّهِAllahلَاdo notاِنْتِهَاءَend.لَهَاThey do not run out,فَلَاand do notتَنْفَدُdeplete,وَلَاnorتَنفَضِيexpire.وَقَدْAnd indeedذَكَرَmentionedالرَّبِيعَal-Rabiمَعَwithذَٰلِكَthatنَعِيمَthe bliss ofالْجَنَّةِParadise,فَإِنَّfor Allah, the Almighty, said:{إِنَّIndeed,هَذَاthisلَرِزْقُنَاis our provision,مَاwhichلَهُthere is noمِنْfromنَفَادٍdepletion.}(٢)
And the intended meaning is that the words of Allah do not have an end; they do not deplete, nor do they expire. And indeed, al-Rabi mentioned alongside that the bliss of Paradise, for Allah, the Almighty, said: {Indeed, this is our provision, which there is no depletion.} (2)
فَأَخْبَرَSo he informedأَنَّهُthat itلَاdoes notيَنْفَدُdeplete,فَلَاso there is noيَكُونُit is notلَهُthere for itانْقِضَاءٌexpiry,وَلَاnorفَرَاغٌemptinessوَآخَرٌand anotherيَنْتَهِيends.عَنْهُ(٣)
So he informed that it does not deplete, so there is no expiry for it, nor is there another to end it (3).
وَهَذِهِAnd theseالْأَقْوَالُstatements,وَالْكَلَامُand discussionsعَلَيْهَاon themمَبْسُوطَةٌare elaboratedفِيinغَيْرِother thanهَذَاthisالْمَوْضِعِplace.(٤)
And these statements and discussions on them are elaborated in places other than this one (4).
وَالمَقْصُودُAnd the intendedهُنَاhereفِيin(٥)(5)فَنَاءُthe extinction ofالجَنَّةِParadiseوَالنَّارِand Hell,فَقَدْfor it hasتَبَيَّنَbecome clearأَنَّthatالْقَوْلَthe statementبِفَنَاءِof the extinction ofالجَنَّةِParadiseلَمْis notيُعْرَفْknownعَنْfromأَحَدٍanyoneمِنَfromالسَّلَفِthe predecessors,وَلَاnorالأَئِمَّةُthe imams,وَإِنَّمَاrather it is the saying ofهُوَJahm,وَنَحْوِهِand similar ones,وَقَدْand indeedعُرِفَit is knownفَسَادُهُits corruptionعَقْلًاintellectually,وَنَقْلًاand by transmission.
And the intended here in (5) is the extinction of Paradise and Hell; for it has become clear that the statement of the extinction of Paradise is not known from anyone among the predecessors, nor from the imams; rather it is the saying of Jahm and similar individuals, and its corruption is known both intellectually and by transmission.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالْقَوْلُthe statement(٦)(6)بِفَنَاءِof the extinction ofالنَّارِthe Hell:فَفِيهَاthere areقَوْلَانِtwo statementsمَعْرُوفَانِknownعَنْfromالسَّلَفِthe predecessorsوَالخَلَفِand the successorsوَالنِّزَاعُand the disputeفِيin thatذَٰلِكَthat is knownعَنْfromالتَّابِعِينَthe followers,وَمَنْand whoeverبَعْدَهُمْafter them.
And as for the statement (6) about the extinction of Hell: there are two known statements from the predecessors and the successors, and the dispute in that is known from the followers and whoever comes after them.
