What is Madina Book 1?

Madina Book 1 is the first volume of the world-famous Arabic language curriculum developed by Shaykh Dr. V. Abdur Raheem at the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. It has been used to teach Arabic to millions of non-native speakers globally and is widely regarded as one of the most effective Arabic textbooks ever written.

The book uses a conversation-based approach — starting with simple demonstrative pronouns and building naturally toward complete sentences and basic grammar. Unlike many Arabic courses that begin with abstract grammatical rules, Madina Book 1 puts the student in front of real Arabic from the very first lesson. The traditional format is a printed textbook; Arabook's interactive version adds word-by-word English translations for every sentence, making the learning process significantly faster and more accessible.

Why use Arabook's interactive version?

The traditional Madina Book requires a teacher or significant self-study time to decode unfamiliar vocabulary. On Arabook, every Arabic word is displayed with its English translation directly beneath it — no dictionary required. You can save words you want to review to your personal dictionary and test yourself later with spaced repetition quizzes. This transforms Madina Book 1 from a passive reading exercise into an active vocabulary-building tool.
