وَيَنْقَلِعُAnd is pulled outالْجِصُّthe plaster،,وَيَنْكَسِرُand breaksالْعَتَبُthe lintel..

And the plaster is pulled out, and the lintel breaks.

With the bending of the rafters due to frequent treading, and their breaking due to excessive weight.

وَإِذَاAnd ifكَثُرَincreasedالدُّخُولُenteringوَالْخُرُوجُand exitingوَالْإِغْلَاقُand closingوَالْإِقْفَالُand lockingوَجَذْبُand pullingالْأَقْفَالِthe locks،,تَهَشَّمَتْgot brokenالْأَبْوَابُthe doorsوَتَقَلَّعَتِand got pulled outالرُّزَّاتُ1the bolt plates

And if entering and exiting, closing and locking, and pulling the locks become frequent, the doors get shattered and the bolt plates get pulled out.

And if the boys increase and the crowd multiplies, the nails of the doors are removed, every metal plate is pulled out, every bolt plate is taken off, and every lock mechanism is broken; wells are dug in the ground, and they smash its tiles with rammers.

This is in addition to the demolition of walls by pegs and the wood of shelves.

وَإِذَاAnd ifكَثُرَincreasedالْعِيَالُthe dependentsوَالزُّوَّارُand the visitors،,وَالضِّيفَانُand the guestsوَالنُّدَمَاءُand the companions،,احْتِيجَthere is needمِنْforصَبِّpouringالْمَاءِwaterوَاتِّخَاذِand makingالْحُبَبَةِ7the water jarsالْقَاطِرَةِdripping،,وَالْجِرَارِand the jugsالرَّاشِحَةِseeping،,إِلَىtoأَضْعَافِmultiplesمَاof whatكَانُواthey usedعَلَيْهِto be doing..

And if dependents, visitors, guests, and boon companions increase, there is a need for pouring water and making dripping water jars and seeping jugs, to a degree many times what they used to do.

فَكَمْSo how manyمِنْaحَائِطٍwallقَدْindeedتَأَكَّلَwas eaten awayأَسْفَلُهُits bottom،,وَتَنَاثَرَand scatteredأَعْلَاهُits top،,وَاسْتَرْخَىand loosenedأَسَاسُهُits foundation،,وَتَدَاعَىand collapsedبِنْيَانُهُits structure،,مِنْfromقَطْرِdrippingحُبٍّof a jarوَرَشْحِand seepingجَرَّةٍof a jug،,وَمِنْand fromفَضْلِexcessمَاءِwaterالْبِئْرِof the well،,وَمِنْand fromسُوءِbadالتَّدْبِيرِmanagement..

So how many a wall had its bottom eaten away, its top scattered, its foundation loosened, its structure collapsed, from the dripping of a jar and the seeping of a jug, from the excess water of the well, and from poor management.

وَعَلَىAnd according toقَدْرِthe extentكَثْرَتِهِمْof their multitudeيَحْتَاجُونَthey needمِنَofالْخَبِيزِbread bakingوَالطَّبِيخِand cookingوَمِنَand ofالْوَقُودِfuelوَالتَّسْخِينِand heating..

And according to the extent of their multitude, they need bread baking, cooking, fuel, and heating.

وَالنَّارُAnd fireلَاdoes notتُبْقِيspareوَلَاnorتَذَرُleave..

And fire spares nothing and leaves nothing.

وَإِنَّمَاButالدُّورُthe housesحَطَبٌfirewoodلَهَاfor it..

But the houses are firewood for it.

وَكُلُّAnd everythingشَيْءٍthingفِيهَاin themمِنْofمَتَاعٍgoodsفَهُوَthen it isأَكْلٌfoodلَهَاfor it..

And everything in them of goods is food for it.

فَكَمْSo how manyمِنْaحَرِيقٍfireقَدْindeedأَتَىcameعَلَىuponأَصْلِthe rootالْغُلَّةِof the wealth،,فَكَلِفْتُمْso you burdenedأَهْلَهَاits ownersأَغْلَظَharshestالنَّفَقَةِexpense..

So how many a fire has consumed the root of wealth, and you burdened its owners with the harshest expense.

وَرُبَّمَاAnd perhapsكَانَthat wasذَلِكَthatعِنْدَatغَايَةِthe peakالْعُسْرَةِof hardship،,وَشِدَّةِand severityالْحَالِof the situation..

And perhaps that was at the peak of hardship and severity of the situation.

وَرُبَّمَاAnd perhapsتَعَدَّتْextendedتِلْكَthatالْجِنَايَةُwrongful harmإِلَىtoدُورِhousesالْجِيرَانِof the neighbors،,وَإِلَىand toمُجَاوَرَةِthe vicinityالْأَبْدَانِof bodiesوَالْأَمْوَالِand wealth..

And perhaps that harm extended to the neighbors' houses and to the vicinity of bodies and wealth.

فَلَوْSo ifتَرَكَleftالنَّاسُthe peopleحِينَئِذٍthenرَبَّthe ownerالدَّارِof the houseوَقَدْرَand the extentبَلِيَّتِهِof his afflictionوَمَقَادِيرَand the amountsمُصِيبَتِهِof his misfortune،,لَكَانَit would have beenعَسَىmaybeذَلِكَthatأَنْthatيَكُونَit could beمُحْتَمَلًاtolerable..

So if the people then had left the owner of the house alone with the extent of his affliction and the amounts of his misfortune, perhaps that would have been tolerable.

وَلَكِنَّهُمْBut theyيَتَشَاءَمُونَconsider him ominousبِهِof him،,وَلَاand do notيَزَالُونَthey continueيَسْتَثْقِلُونَto find burdensomeذِكْرَهُhis mention،,وَيُكْثِرُونَand they increaseمِنْinلَائِمَتِهِblaming himوَتَعْنِيفِهِand reproaching him..

But they consider him ominous, and they continue to find his mention burdensome, and they increase in blaming and reproaching him.
