the beginning of

السُّوَرِ

وَنِهَايَتُهَا

طَرِيقَةُ

الرَّسَائِلِ

وَالْفَرَامِينِ

and decrees

السُّلْطَانِيَّةِ.

الرَّسَائِلِ

تَبْدَأُ

بِحَمْدِ

with the praise of

اللَّهِ

Allah

- تَعَالَى -

- Exalted is He -

وَالثَّنَاءِ

and extolling

عَلَيْهِ،

Him,

For just as some letters begin with the praise of Allah - Exalted is He - and extolling Him,

وَبَعْضَهَا

and some of them

بِبَيَانِ

with the statement of

الْغَرَضِ

the purpose

الْمَقْصُودِ،

intended,

and some of them with the statement of the intended purpose,

وَبَعْضَهَا

and some of them

بِبَيَانِ

with the statement of

اسْمِ

the name of

الْمُرْسِلِ،

the sender,

وَالْمُرْسَلِ

and the one sent

إِلَيْهِ،

to,

and some of them with the statement of the name of the sender and the recipient,

وَبَعْضَهَا

and some of them

تَكُونُ

are

رَسَائِلَ

letters

وَخِطَابَاتٍ

and missives

صَغِيرَةً

small

تَغَيَّرُ

changing

عُنْوَانَ

address

وَمَهِّدْ

and preamble

and some of them are small letters and missives changing address and preamble,

وَبَعْضَ

and some

الرَّسَائِلِ

letters

تَكُونُ

are

مُطَوَّلَةً

lengthy

وَأُخْرَى

and others

مُخْتَصَرَةً

concise

and some letters are lengthy and others concise,

كَذَلِكَ

similarly

الرَّبُّ

the Lord

- تَبَارَكَ

- Blessed

وَتَعَالَى -

and Exalted is He -

اسْتَهَلَّ

opened

بَعْضَ

some

السُّوَرِ

surahs

بِحَمْدِهِ

with His praise

وَتَسْبِيحِهِ

and His glorification

similarly the Lord - Blessed and Exalted is He - opened some surahs with His praise and glorification,

وَبَعْضَهَا

and some of them

بِبَيَانِ

with the statement of

الْغَرَضِ

the purpose

مِنَ

of

التَّنْزِيلِ،

the revelation,

and some of them with the statement of the purpose of revelation,

كَمَا

as

قَالَ

said

- تَعَالَى -:

- Exalted is He -:

as He - Exalted is He - said:

- {ذَلِكَ
- {That is
الْكِتَابُ
the Book
لَا
there is no
رَيْبَ
doubt
فِيهِ
in it
هُدًى
guidance
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ}
for the righteous}

- {That is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for the righteous}

- {سُورَةٌ
- {A surah
أَنْزَلْنَاهَا
We have sent it down
وَفَرَضْنَاهَا}
and made obligatory its laws}
الْآيَةُ.
the ayah.

- {A surah which We have sent down and made [its provisions] obligatory} the ayah.
