وَأَحْكَامُهَاand its rulingsوَلَاحَظْتُand you observedعَادَاتِthe customsالْعَرَبِof the Arabsوَرُسُومَهُمْand their traditionsوَتَقَالِيدَهُمْand their traditions
And its rulings, and you observed the customs of the Arabs, their traditions, and their customs.
وَتَشْرِيعَاتِand the legislationsالرَّسُولِof the Messengerالْخَاتِمِthe Seal-صَلَّى-mayاللَّهُGodعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ-and grant him peace-الَّتِيwhichهِيَisبِمَنْزِلَةِin the status ofالْمُصْلِحِthe reformerوَالْمُهَذِّبِand the refinerلَهَاfor it
And the legislations of the Seal Messenger -may God bless him and grant him peace- which are in the status of a reformer and refiner for it.
تُدْرِكُyou perceiveلِكُلِّfor everyحُكْمٍrulingمِنْfromأَحْكَامِهَاits rulingsسَبَبًاa reasonمِنَfromالْأَسْبَابِthe reasons
You perceive for every ruling of its rulings a reason from the reasons.
وَتَتَوَصَّلُand you reachفِيinكُلِّeveryأَمْرٍcommandوَنْهْيٍand prohibitionمِنْfromأَوَامِرِهَاits commandsوَنَوَاهِيهَاand its prohibitionsإِلَىtoمَصْلَحَةٍan interestمَرْعِيَّةٍregardedمِنَfromالْمَصَالِحِthe interests
And you reach in every command and prohibition from its commands and prohibitions to a regarded interest from the interests.
وَتَفْصِيلُand detailingذَلِكَthatيَطُولُis lengthy
And the detailing of that is lengthy.
دَوْرُThe roleالتَّشْرِيعَاتِof the legislationsالْإِسْلَامِيَّةِIslamicفِيinإِصْلَاحِreformingالْمِلَّةِthe creedالْحَنِيفِيَّةِthe uprightالْمُحَرَّفَةِ:distorted:
The role of Islamic legislations in reforming the distorted upright creed:
وَبِالْجُمْلَةِAnd in generalفَإِنَّindeedالْعِبَادَاتِthe acts of worshipمِنَfromالطَّهَارَةِpurificationوَالصَّلَاةِand prayerوَالصَّوْمِand fastingوَالزَّكَاةِand zakatوَالْحَجِّand hajjوَالْأَذْكَارِand remembrancesكَانَتْhadقَدْalreadyتَعَرَّضَتْbeen exposedلِلْإِهْمَالِto neglectوَالتَّسَاهُلِand laxityالْعَظِيمِgreatفِيinأَدَائِهَاperforming themوَالْقِيَامِand standingبِهَا،by them,
And in general, the acts of worship from purification, prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj, and remembrances had been exposed to neglect and great laxity in performing them and standing by them,
وَلِاخْتِلَافِand due to the difference ofالنَّاسِthe people-لِجَهْلِ-due to the ignorance ofأَكْثَرِهِمْmost of themبِهَاof itوَغَفْلَتِهِمْ-and their heedlessness-فِيinمَشْرُوعِيَّتِهَا،its legality,
and due to the difference of the people -due to the ignorance of most of them of it and their heedlessness- in its legality,
وَتَسَرُّبِand the seepage ofالتَّحْرِيفَاتِdistortionsالْجَاهِلِيَّةِpre-Islamicإِلَيْهَاinto it
and the seepage of pre-Islamic distortions into it.
فَنَزَلَso descendedالْقُرْآنُthe Quranالْعَظِيمُgreatوَقَضَىand eliminatedعَلَىonهَذِهِthisالْفَوْضَىchaosوَالِاخْتِلَالِ،and disorder,
So the great Quran descended and eliminated this chaos and disorder,
وَأَقَامَand establishedاعْوَاجَهَاits crookednessوَعَدَلَهَاand straightened itوَسَوَاهَا.and leveled it.
and established its crookedness, straightened it, and leveled it.
وَكَانَتِAnd wasالْحَيَاةُthe lifeالِاجْتِمَاعِيَّةُsocialوَالْعَائِلِيَّةُand familialفِيهَاin itكَثِيرٌmuchمِنَfromالتَّقَالِيدِtraditionsالْمُجْحِفَةِunjustوَالطُّقُوسِand ritualsالْجَائِرَةِoppressiveوَعَوَامِلِand factorsالْبَغْيِof transgressionوَالْعُدْوَانِand hostility
And social and familial life in it had much of unjust traditions, oppressive rituals, and factors of transgression and hostility.
وَهَكَذَاAnd thusكَانَwasشَأْنُthe matterالْحُكْمِof governanceوَالسِّيَاسَةِand politicsمِنَfromالِاخْتِلَالِdisorderوَالِاضْطِرَابِand turmoilوَالْفَوْضَى.and chaos.
And thus was the matter of governance and politics from disorder, turmoil, and chaos.
فَضَبَطَSo regulatedالْقُرْآنُthe Quranالْعَظِيمُgreatأُصُولَthe principlesهَذِهِof theseالْقَضَايَا،matters,
So the great Quran regulated the principles of these matters,
وَحَدَّدَand definedلَهَاfor itحُدُودًاlimitsوَشَرَعَand legislatedلَهَاfor itتَشْرِيعَاتٍlegislationsخَاصَّةً.special.
and defined limits for it and legislated special legislations for it.
[حَقِيقَةِ[The reality ofالصَّغَائِرِminor sinsوَالْكَبَائِرِ:]and major sins:]
[The reality of minor sins and major sins:]
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedكَانَتْwereكَثِيرٌmanyمِنَfromالْكَبَائِرِthe major sinsوَالصَّغَائِرِand minor sinsرَاجِعَةًtracing backإِلَىtoهَذَاthisالْأَصْلِoriginوُمَتَعَلِّقَةًand relatingبِهَذَاto thisالْبَابِ.chapter.
And indeed many of the major and minor sins were tracing back to this origin and relating to this chapter.
