They mentioned that thirteen sons were born to Drar ibn Amr al-Dabbi, all of whom reached maturity and became leaders, and he traveled one day.

So when he saw his sons as men with their families and children, what he saw of their appearance pleased him. It was said: Ibn Abbas, may Allah have mercy on him, looked at one of his children sleeping in the early morning and kicked him with his foot, then said, "Get up! May Allah not let your eye sleep! Do you sleep at a time when Allah, Majestic and Mighty is He, allocates provisions?"

It has been said: Sleep is of three kinds: folly, stupidity, and disposition.

As for folly, it is sleeping in the mid-morning as a distraction from the affairs of this world and the Hereafter. Stupidity is sleeping between Asr and Maghrib, for none sleeps during it except a fool, a sick person, or a drunkard. As for disposition, it is the midday nap which the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, commanded, for he said, "Take a midday nap, for Satan does not take a midday nap."

It was said: Indeed, early morning sleep obliterates provision and causes sallowness, laziness, and bad breath.
