ٱلْحَيَوَانُ،the animal,تِلكَthatٱلنَّظْرَةُlookٱلْمَجْرُوحَةُinjuredوَٱلْأَسِيَانَةُ،and the mournful,لَاthere is noيُوجَدُexistsفِيهَاin itأَيُّanyفَرَحٍ،joy,أوorسَعَادَةٍhappinessأوorاقْتِنَاعٍconvictionبِٱلشَّرْطِwith the conditionٱلَّذِيthatيَمُرُّpassesبِهِ.through it.
The animal, that injured and mournful look, has no joy, happiness, or conviction about the condition it is going through.
وَٱلْخِزْيُAnd the shameٱلْحَيَوَانِيُّanimalisticيُضِيءُlights upأَنْوَاعًاtypesأُخْرَىotherمِنْofٱلْخِزْيِshameوَٱلْعَارِ.and disgrace.
And the animalistic shame lights up other types of shame and disgrace.
فَفِيInٱلْبُؤْسِmiseryٱلْإِنْسَانِيِّhuman،,مَثَلًَاfor example,يُوجَدُthere isوَعِيٌawarenessبِهَذَاof thisٱلْبُؤْسِ.misery.
In human misery, for example, there is an awareness of this misery.
وَفِيAnd inأَحْيَانٍoccasionsكَثِيرَةٍoftenيَكُونُthere isهَذَاthisٱلْبُؤْسُmiseryمُبَطَّنًَاis concealedبِٱلثَّوْرَةِby revoltعَلَيْهَاagainst itأَيٌّwhich meansإِنَّthatشَيْئًَاsomethingمَاthatيُمْكِنُcanأَنْtoيَفْعَلَهُdo itٱلْإِنْسَانُthe human
And often, this misery is concealed by a revolt against it, which means that there is something the human can do against this misery.
لَكِنَّButٱلْحَيَوَانُthe animalلَاdoes notيَمْلِكُpossessشَيْئًَاanythingمِنْofذَٰلِكَ.that.
But the animal does not possess anything of that.
لَاIt does notيَمْلِكُpossessٱلذِّكْرَىmemoryأوorٱلْأَمَلُhopeأوorٱلْوَعِي.awareness.
It does not possess memory, hope, or awareness.
ٱلْحَيَوَانُThe animalيَعِيشُlivesدَائِمًَاalwaysفِيinسِجْنٍprisonحَتَّىevenٱلْكَلْبُthe dogٱلَّذِيthatيَخْرُجُgoes outمَعَwithصَاحِبِهِits ownerٱلصَّيَّادِ،the hunter,وَيَجْرِيand runsفِيinٱلْجِبَالِthe mountainsوَٱلْمَرَاعِيand the pasturesوَٱلْغَابَاتِand the forestsيَحْمِلُcarriesسِجْنَهُhis prisonمَعَهُ.with him.
The animal always lives in prison, even the dog that goes out with its owner the hunter, and runs in the mountains, pastures, and forests carries its prison with him.
ٱلْكَلْبُThe dogٱلَّذِيthatيُرَافِقُaccompaniesٱلصَّيَّادَthe hunterأوorٱلْحِصَانُthe horseٱلَّذِيthatيَقْفِزُjumpsأوorيَجْرِيrunsكَٱلرِّيَاحِlike the windفِيinٱلْمَيَادِينِthe fieldsوَٱلْمَضَامِيرِand the tracksلَاdo notيَعْرِفَانِknowٱلسَّعَادَةَ،happiness,لِأَنَّbecauseسِجْنَهُits prisonمَعَهُwith him.لَاdoes notيَغَادِرُهُ.leave it.
The dog that accompanies the hunter, or the horse that jumps or runs like the wind in the fields and the tracks does not know happiness, because its prison does not leave it.
وَتِلْكَAnd thoseٱلْحَيَوَانَاتُanimalsٱلَّتِيthatتَجْرِيrunفِيinٱلْمَرَاعِيthe pasturesٱلْحُرَّةِfreeوَٱلْمُتَوَحِّشَةِand wildٱلَّتِيthatتُنْقَلُهَاare shown byكَامِيرَاتِcamerasٱلْأَفْلَامِof filmsٱلْوَثَائِقِيَّةِdocumentaryوَٱلْاِكْتِشَافَاتِand discoveriesٱلْعِلْمِيَّةِscientificهِيَareأَيْضًَاalsoكَائِنَاتٌbeingsلَاdo notتَعْرِفُknowٱلسَّعَادَةَ،happiness,فَثَّمَfor there isمِنْone whoيَأْتِيcomesإِلَيْهَاto itقَصْدَwith the intentٱصْطِيَادِهَا.to hunt it.
And those animals that run in the free and wild pastures that are shown by documentary cameras and scientific discoveries are also beings that do not know happiness, for there is one who comes to it with the intent to hunt it.
لِذَٰلِكَTherefore,فَهِيَthey areدَائِمَةٌalwaysٱلرَّكْضُ،running,وَلَاand do notتَقِفُstopإِلَّاexceptعِندَatغَدِيرٍa watering placeأوorنَبَعٍa springأوorعُشْبٍ.grass.
Therefore, they are always running, and do not stop except at a watering place, a spring, or grass.
ذَٰلِكَThatهُوَisقَدَرُهَا،its fate,أوor«سِرُّهَاits secretٱلْحَيَوَانِيِّ»،animal,”حَسَبَaccording toتَعْبِيرِthe expressionٱلْكَاتِبَةِof the writerٱلْفَرَنْسِيَّةِFrench«جُنِيفِيف“Genevièveجِينَارِي»Jinary”
That is its fate, or the ‘animal secret’ according to the expression of the French writer Geneviève Jinary.
ٱلَّتِيthatتَكَادُalmostتَكُونَisٱلْكَاتِبَةُthe writerٱلْأُورُوبِيَّةُEuropeanٱلْوَحِيدَةُonlyٱلَّتِيthatتَحَدَّثَتْhas spokenعَنْaboutٱلشَّرْطِthe conditionٱلْحَيَوَانِيِّanimalبَعْدَafterجُورْجGeorgeأُورْوِيل.Orwell.
She is the only European writer that has almost spoken about the animal condition after George Orwell.
عِنْدَمَاWhenتَحَدَّثَhe spokeأُورْوِيلOrwellعَنْaboutمُعَانَاةِthe sufferingٱلْحَيَوَانَاتِ،of the animals,تَحَدَّثَhe spokeعَنْaboutٱلْخِزْيِهَا،its shame,وَكَأَنَّهَاas ifأَخْتٌsisterٱلْإِنْسَانِof the humanفِيinٱلْوَعْيِawarenessوَٱلشَّرْطِand conditionوَٱلْوُجُودِ.and existence.
When Orwell spoke about the suffering of the animals, he spoke about their shame, as if they were the sister of the human in awareness, condition, and existence.
فَهِيَFor itتَعِيشُlivesفِيinمَزْرَعَةٍa farmتُسَمَّىcalledمَزْرَعَةُthe farmٱلْقَصْرِof the palaceٱلَّتِيthatفِيinمِلْكِيَّةِthe possessionهَذَاthisٱلَّذِيthat
For it lives in a farm called the palace farm, which is the possession of this.
