The eighth chapter
بَعْدَafterبِضْعَةٌa fewأَيَّامٍdaysوَبَعْدَمَاand afterتَلاَشَىfaded awayالرُّعْبُthe terrorالَّذِيthatأَحْدَثَتْهُit causedالإِعْدَامَاتُthe executions
After a few days and after the terror that the executions caused faded away,
تَذَكَّرَrememberedبَعْضٌsomeالْحَيَوَانَاتِanimalsأَوْorعَلَىatالأَقَلِّleastبَدَاseemedلَهَاto themذَٰلِكَthat,مَاwhatتُوَجِّبُهُit necessitatesالْوَصِيَّةُthe commandmentالسَّادِسَةُthe sixth:يُحَظِّرُit prohibitsعَلَىonحَيَوَانٍanimalقَتْلَto killحَيَوَانٍanimalآخَرَanother
some animals remembered, or at least it seemed to them, what the sixth commandment necessitates: it prohibits an animal from killing another animal.
وَرَغْمَand despiteأَنْthatلَاnoأَحَدٍoneقَدْhasتَجَرَّأَdaredعَلَىtoذِكْرِmentionذَٰلِكَthatعَلَىinمَسْمَعِthe hearingالْخِنَازِيرِof the pigsوَالْكِلَابِand the dogsإِلَّاexceptأَنَّهُمْthat theyوَجَدُواfoundأَنْthatالإِعْدَامَاتِthe executionsتُخَالِفُcontradictمَنْطُوقَthe wordingالْوَصِيَّةِthe commandment
And even though no one had dared to mention that in the hearing of the pigs and the dogs, they found that the executions contradict the wording of the commandment.
طَلَبَتْrequestedكُلُوفَرُCloverمِنَfromبِنْيَامِينَBenjaminأَنْtoيَقْرَأَreadلَهَاto herالْوَصِيَّةَthe commandmentالسَّادِسَةَthe sixth,وَعِنْدَمَاand whenرَفَضَhe refusedكَمَاasهِيَsheعَادَتَهُhis custom,مُدَّعِيًاclaimingأَنَّهُthat heلَاdoes notيَتَدَخَّلُinterveneفِيinالشُّؤُونِthe affairsالَّتِيwhichلَاdo notتَعْنِيهِconcern him,وَجَّهَتْshe directedطَلَبَهَاher requestإِلَىto«مُوريل»'Muriel'
Clover requested Benjamin to read her the sixth commandment, and when he refused, as was his custom, claiming that he does not intervene in affairs that do not concern him, she directed her request to 'Muriel'.
قَرَأَتْread«مُوريلMurielالْوَصِيَّةَthe commandmentتَقُولُsays:يُحَظِّرُit prohibitsعَلَىonحَيَوَانٍanimalقَتْلَto killحَيَوَانٍanimalآخَرَanotherمِنْwithoutدُونَwithoutسَبَبٍreasonمَقْبُولٍacceptable
Muriel read the commandment. It says: it prohibits an animal from killing another animal without an acceptable reason.
لَمْdid notتَتَذَكَّرْrememberالْحَيَوَانَاتُthe animals,لِسَبَبٍfor a reasonأَوْorلِآخَرَfor another,الْكَلِمَاتُthe wordsالثَّلاَثَthe threeالأَخِيرَةُlastلَكِنَّbutالْآنَnowاَتَّضَحَit became clearلَهَاto herأَنَّthatالْوَصِيَّةُthe commandmentالسَّادِسَةُthe sixthلَمْdid notتُخَالِفviolateفَبِجَلَاءٍfor indeedتُوجَدُthere areأَسْبَابٌreasonsمَعْقُولَةٌreasonableلِقَتْلِfor killingالْخَوَانَةِthe traitorsالَّذِينَwhoتَأَمَرُواconspiredمَعَwithسْنُوبُلSnowball
The animals did not remember, for one reason or another, the last three words, but now it became clear to her that the sixth commandment was not violated, for indeed there are reasonable reasons for killing the traitors who conspired with Snowball.
طِيلَةَThroughoutهَذَاthisالْعَامِyearوَالْحَيَوَانَاتُand the animalsتَعْمَلُworkedبِجِدٍّharderأَكْثَرَmoreمِنَthanالسَّنَةِthe yearالْفَارِطَةِpreviousفَإِنَّهَاءَTo finishالطَّاحُونَةَthe windmillفِيinالْوَقْتِthe timeالْمُنَاسِبِappropriate,وَمُضَاعَفَةَand doublingسُمُكَةِthe thicknessجُدْرَانِهَاof its wallsخِلَافًاunlikeلِلْجُدْرَانِthe wallsالسَّابِقَةِprevious,مُوَازَاةًparallelمَعَwithالأَشْغَالِthe work
Throughout this year, the animals worked harder than the previous year. To finish the windmill in the appropriate time, and doubling the thickness of its walls unlike the previous walls, in parallel with the works.
