يَجْرُونَهَاThey carry itعَلَىonمَاwhatأَرَادَGod wantedاللَّهُGodبِهَاwith itسُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىGlory be to Him, the Exaltedوَيُثَبِّتُونَand they affirmلَهَاfor itجَمِيعَallأَنْوَاعِtypesالدَّلَالاتِof indicationsلِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyيَرَوْنَseeأَنْthatمَاwhatخَالَفَcontradictsذَلِكَthatفَهُوَit isإِلْحَادٌatheism
They carry it on what God wanted with it, Glory be to Him, and they affirm all types of indications for it; because they see that what contradicts that is atheism.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالإِلْحَادُthe atheismفِيinآيَاتِthe versesاللَّهِ تَعَالَىof God, the Exaltedفَالْآيَاتُthen the versesجَمْعٌare a collectionآيَةٍof a verseوَهِيَand it isالْعَلَامَةُthe signالمُمَيِّزَةُwhich distinguishesللشَّيْءِof the thingعَنْfromغَيْرِهِothersوَاللَّهُAnd Godعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almighty, Glory be Himبَعَثَsentالرُّسُلَthe messengersبِالْآيَاتِwith versesلَاnotبِالْمُعْجِزَاتِwith miraclesوَلِهَذَاand for this reasonكَانَit wasالتَّعْبِيرُthe expressionبِالْآيَاتِwith versesأَحْسَنَbetterمِنْthanالتَّعْبِيرِthe expressionبِالْمُعْجِزَاتِwith miracles
And as for atheism in the verses of God, then the verses are a collection of a verse, and it is the sign that distinguishes the thing from others; and God, the Almighty, sent the messengers with verses, not with miracles, and for this reason the expression with verses is better than the expression with miracles.
أَوَّلًاFirstلِأَنَّbecauseالْآيَاتُthe versesهِيَareالَّتِيthatيُعَبَّرُare expressedبِهَاwith itفِيinالْكِتَابِthe bookوَالسُّنَّةِand the SunnahثَانِيًاSecondlyأَنْthatالْمُعْجِزَاتُthe miraclesقَدْmayتَقَعَhappenمِنْfromسَاحِرٍa magicianوَمُشَعُوذٍand a sorcererوَمَاand whatأَشْبَهَis similarذَلِكَthatتُعْجِزُcan make helplessغَيْرَهُothers
First, because the verses are the ones that are expressed in the Book and the Sunnah. Secondly, that miracles may happen from a magician and a sorcerer, and what is similar to that can make others helpless.
ثَالِثًاThirdlyأَنْthatكَلِمَةًthe wordآيَاتٍversesأَدَلُّis more indicativeعَلَىofالْمَعْنَىthe meaningالْمَقْصُودِintendedمِنْfromكَلِمَةٍthe wordمُعْجِزَاتٍmiraclesفَآيَاتُSo the versesاللَّهِof Godعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyهِيَareالْعَلَامَاتُthe signsالدَّالَّةُindicatingعَلَىonاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّGod, the Almightyوَحِينََئِذٍand thenتَكُونُit becomesخَاصَّةًspecificبِهِto Himوَلَوْلَاand if not forأَنَّهَاthat it isخَاصَّةًspecificمَاit would notصَارَتْhave becomeآيَةًa verseلَهُfor Him
Thirdly, that the word "verses" is more indicative of the intended meaning than the word "miracles"; for the verses of God, the Almighty, are the signs indicating God, the Almighty, and then they become specific to Him, and if not for it being specific, it would not have become a verse for Him.
شَرْعِيَّةٌlegalوَآيَاتُAnd the versesاللَّهِof Godعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyتَنْقَسِمُdividedإِلَىintoقِسْمَيْنِtwo sectionsآيَاتٍthe versesكَوْنِيَّةٍcosmicوَآيَاتٍand versesشَرْعِيَّةٍlegalفَالْآيَاتُThen the versesالْكَوْنِيَّةُcosmicمَاwhatيَتَعَلَّقُrelatesبِالْخَلْقِto creationوَالتَّكْوِينِand formationمَثَالٌan exampleذَلِكَof thatقَوْلُهُis his sayingوَمِنْAnd ofوَآيَاتِهِHis versesاللَّيْلُthe nightوَالنَّهَارُand the dayوَالشَّمْسُand the sunوَالْقَمَرُand the moonفَصَّلَتْis detailed٣٧37وَمِنْAnd ofآيَاتِهِHis versesأَنْthatخَلَقَكُمْHe created youمِّنَfromتُرَابٍdustثُمَّThenإِذَاwhenأَنْتُمْyou areبَشَرٌhumansتَنْتَشِرُونَspreading
Legal verses and the verses of God, the Almighty, are divided into two sections: cosmic verses and legal verses. The cosmic verses are those that relate to creation and formation; an example of that is His saying: "And among His verses are the night and the day and the sun and the moon" [Fussilat: 37], "And of His verses is that He created you from dust, then when you are humans, you are spreading" [Rum: 20].
