قَوْلُهُHis sayingلَيْسَis notكَمِثْلِهِlike Himشَيْءٌanythingوَهُوَand He isالسَّمِيعُthe All-Hearingالْبَصِيرُthe All-Seeing
His saying: "There is nothing like Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing."
وَقَوْلُهُAnd His sayingهوisإِنَّIndeedاللهAllahنِعْمًاa great favorيَعِظُكُمadmonishes youبِهِwith itإِنَّIndeedاللهَAllahكَانَwasسَمِيعًاAll-HearingبَصِيرًاAll-Seeing
And His saying: "Indeed, Allah is a great favor that admonishes you. Indeed, Allah was All-Hearing, All-Seeing."

The explanation: His statement, exalted is He: 'There is nothing like Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.'

These verses were brought by the author to establish two names from Allah and what they contain in attributes: the All-Hearing and the All-Seeing.
وفيهاAnd in itردa refutationعلىagainstالمعطلةthe deny-ers
And in it, there is a refutation against the deniers.
قولهHis sayingلَيْسَis notكَمِثْلِهِlike Himشَيْءٌanything
His saying: 'There is nothing like Him' is a negation; it is of the negative attributes.
والمقصودAnd the intentبهby itإثباتto affirmكمالهHis perfectionيعنيmeansلكمالهfor His perfectionلاnotيماثلهis comparable to HimشيءanythingمنofمخلوقاتهHis creatures
And the intent behind it is to affirm His perfection; it means that for His perfection, nothing is comparable to Him of His creatures.
وفيAnd in thisالجملةthe statementردa refutationعلىagainstأهلthe peopleالتمثيلof representation
And in this statement, there is a refutation against the people of representation.

His saying: 'And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.'
السَمِيعُthe All-Hearingلهhasمعنيانtwo meaningsأحدهماone of themبمعنىmeaningالمجيبthe Respondingوالثانيand the secondبمعنىmeaningالسامعthe Hearerللصوتof the sound
The All-Hearing has two meanings; the first meaning is the Responding, and the second meaning is the Hearer of the sound.
أماAs forالسميعthe All-Hearingبمعنىmeaningالمجيبthe Respondingفمثّلواthey exemplifiedلهfor itبقولهby His sayingتعالىExalted (is He)عنaboutإبراهيمIbrahimإِنَّ رَبِّيIndeed, my Lordلَسَمِيعُis All-Hearingالدُّعَاءِof supplication
As for the All-Hearing in the meaning of the Responding, they exemplified it with His saying, exalted is He, about Ibrahim: "Indeed, my Lord is All-Hearing of supplication."
