And launching.

فَإِذاSo ifعَرَفْتَyou knowمِنْfromنَفْسِكَyourselfهَذَا؛this;فَاعْلَمْthen knowأَنَّthatاللَّهَAllahأَرَادَwantedبِكَfor youخَيْرًا،goodness,وَأَرَادَand wantedلَكَfor youهِدَايَةً،guidance,أَمَّاas forمَنْwhomeverضَاقَis constrictedبِهِwith himذَرْعًاbreathوَالْعِيَاذَand seeking refugeبِاللَّهِwith Allahفَإِنَّthen ifهَذَاthisعَلاَمَةٌis a signعَلَىthatأَنَّthatاللَّهَAllahلَمْdid notيُرِدْwantلَهُfor himهِدَايَةً،guidance,وَإِلَّا؛and if not;لَانْشَرَحَwe would have expandedصَدْرَهُ.his chest.

So if you know this about yourself; then know that Allah wanted goodness for you, and wanted guidance for you. As for whomever is constricted with it, seeking refuge in Allah, then this is a sign that Allah did not will for him guidance, and if not; we would have expanded his chest.

وَلِهَذَاAnd for thisتَجِدُونَyou findالصَّلَاةَthe prayerالَّتِيthat isهِيَisأَثْقَلَthe heaviestمَاthat whichيَكُونُisعَلَىonالْمُنَافِقِينَthe hypocritesقُرَّةُthe coolnessأَعْيُنِof the eyesالْمُخْلِصِينَ ؛of the sincere;قَالَthe Prophet saidالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ :the Prophet ﷺ :حُبِّبَlovedإِلَيَّto meمِنْfromدُنْيَاكُمْyour worldly thingsالنِّسَاءِthe womenوَالطَّيِّبَاتِ،and perfumes,وَجُعِلَتْand made itقُرَّةَthe coolnessأَعْيُنِيof my eyesفِيinالصَّلَاةِ»(۱)the prayer" (1)

And for this, you find that the prayer, which is the heaviest of actions on the hypocrites, is the coolness of the eyes of the sincere; the Prophet ﷺ said: "I have been made fond of the women and perfumes from your world, and the coolness of my eyes is in prayer." (1)

وَلَاAnd noشَكٌّdoubtأَنَّthatالنَّبِيَّ ﷺthe Prophet ﷺأَكْمَلَwas the most completeالنَّاسُof peopleإِيمَانًا ؛in faith;فَانْشَرَحَhe expandedصَدْرَهُhis chestبِالصَّلَاةِwith prayerوَصَارَتْand it becameقُرَّةَthe coolnessعَيْنِهِ.of his eye.

And there is no doubt that the Prophet ﷺ was the most complete of people in faith; his chest expanded with prayer and it became the coolness of his eye.

فَإِذاSo ifقِيلَit was saidلِلشَّخْصِ :to the person:إِنَّهُthat itيَجِبُmustعَلَيْكَon youأَنْtoتُصَلِّيَprayمَعَwithالْجَمَاعَةِthe congregationفِيinالْمَسْجِدِ ؛the mosque;فَانْشَرَحَthen he expandedصَدْرَهُhis chestوَقَالَand saidالْحَمْدُPraiseلِلَّهِbe to Allahالَّذِيwhoشَرَعَlegislatedلِيfor meذَلِكَthatوَلَوْلَاand if it were notأَنْthatاللَّهَAllahشَرَعَهُprescribedلَكَانَit would have beenبِدْعَةًan innovationوَأَقْبَلَand he approachedإِلَيْهِ،to it,وَرَضِيَand he was pleasedبِه؛with it;فَهَذَاthis isعَلاَمَةٌa signعَلَىforأَنْthatاللَّهَAllahأَرَادَwantedأَنْtoيَهْدِيَهُguide himوَأَرَادَand wantedبِهِfor himخَيْرًا.goodness.

So if it was said to the person: "That you must pray with the congregation in the mosque;" then his chest would expand, and he would say, "Praise be to Allah who legislated that for me, and if it were not that Allah prescribed it, it would have been an innovation; and he approaches it and is pleased with it; this is a sign that Allah wanted to guide him and wanted goodness for him.

He said: "He expands his chest for Islam: (expands; meaning to widen), and from this is the saying of Moses, upon him be peace, when Allah sent him to Pharaoh: "O Lord! Expand for me my chest" [Taha: 25]; meaning widen my chest in conversing with this man and inviting him; because Pharaoh was tyrannical and stubborn.
