أَصْلُهُHis originيَهُودِيٌّa JewدَخَلَenteredفِيintoدِينِreligionالإِسْلَامِIslamبِدَعْوَىunder the claimالتَّشَيُّعِof Shiismلَآلِfor the familyالْبَيْتِof the House؛;

His origin is a Jew who entered into the religion of Islam under the claim of Shiism for the family of the House;

لِيُفْسِدَto corruptعَلَىuponأَهْلِthe peopleالإِسْلَامِof Islamدِينَهُمْtheir religion؛;

to corrupt the religion of the people of Islam;

كَمَاasقَالَsaidذَٰلِكَthatشَيْخُthe Sheikhالإِسْلَامِof IslamابْنُIbnتَيْمِيَّةِTaimiyahرَحْمَةُmay mercy be upon him،,وَقَالَand he saidإِنَّIndeedهَذَاthisكَمَاasصَنَعَdidبَوْلَصَPaulحِينَwhenدَخَلَhe enteredفِيintoدِينِthe religionالنَّصَارَىof the Christians(۱)(1)

as Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taimiyah may mercy be upon him said: 'Indeed this is as Paul did when he entered into the religion of the Christians (1)'

هَذَاThisالرَّجُلُmanعَبْدُاللَّهِAbdullahبِنَbinسَبَأَSabaقَالَsaidلِعَلِيٍّto Aliبِنَbinأَبِيof AbuطَالِبٍTalibرَضِيَmay Allah be pleased with him::أَنْتَYou areاللهُAllahحَقًّاtruly!!وَعَلِيٌّAnd Aliابْنُbenأَبِيof AbuطَالِبٍTalibلَاdoes notيَرْضَىapproveأَنْthatأَحَدًاanyoneيَنْزِلَهُlower himفَوْقَaboveمَنْزِلَتِهِhis statusهُوَheحَتَّىuntilإِنَّهُIndeed heرَضِيَmay Allah be pleased with himاللهُAllahعَنْهُabout himمِنْfromإِنْصَافِهِhis fairnessوَعَدْلِهِand his justiceوَعِلْمِهِand his knowledgeوَخِبْرَتِهِand his experienceكَانَhe wasيَقُولُsayingعَلَىuponمِنْبَرِpulpitالكُوفَةِKufa::خَيْرُbestهَذِهِof thisالأُمَّةِnationبَعْدَafterنَبِيِّهَاits prophetأَبُوAbuبَكْرٍBakrثُمَّthenعُمَرَOmar(٢)(2)

This man Abdullah bin Saba said to Ali bin Abi Talib may Allah be pleased with him: 'You are truly Allah!' And Ali bin Abi Talib does not approve that anyone lower him above his status.

وَلِهَذَاAnd for thisعَزَّرَهُمْhe punished themأَبْشَعَin the most heinous wayتَعْزِيرٍ؛punishment;أَمَرَhe orderedبِالْأَخَادِيدِthe ditchesفَخُدَتْ،to be dug,ثُمَّthenمَلِئَتْfilledحَطَبًا،with wood,وَأُوقِدَتْand set fireثُمَّthenأَتَىcameبِهَؤُلَاءِwith theseفَقَذَفَهُمْand threw themفِيintoالنَّارِthe fireوَأَحْرَقَهُمْand burned themبِهَا؛with it;لَأَنَّbecauseفِرْيَتَهُمْtheir slanderعَظِيمَةٌis great-وَالْعِيَاذُAnd seeking refugeبِاللَّهِin Allahـ-وَلَيْسَAnd notهَيْئَةً،a form,فِيin

And for this, he punished them in the most heinous way; he ordered the ditches to be dug, then filled with wood, and set on fire; then he came with these and threw them into the fire and burned them with it; because their slander is great - and seeking refuge in Allah - and not a form,

(1) Narrated by al-Lalakai in the explanation of the Sunnah (2823) from al-Sha'bi, and has cited by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taimiyah in the methodology of the Sunnah (29/1) and referred to those who narrated them from the scholars.

وَالْحَدِيثُAnd the hadithأَصْلُهُits originفِيinصَحِيحٍauthenticالْبُخَارِيِّ)al-Bukhari)(٣٦٧١)(3671)عَنْfromمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadبِنَbinالْحَنَفِيَّةِal-Hanafiyyaقَالَ:said:قُلْتُI saidلِأَبِي:to my father:أَيُّWhichالنَّاسِpeopleخَيْرٌis bestبَعْدَafterرَسُولِthe Messengerاللَّهِ؟of Allah?قَالَHe saidأَبُوAbuبَكْرٌBakr.قَالَ:He said:قُلْتُ:I said:ثُمَّthenمَنْ؟who?قَالَ:He said:ثُمَّthenعُمَرٌ.Omar.۲2

And the hadith is authentically reported in Bukhari (3671) from Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya who said: 'I said to my father: Which people is best after the Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Abu Bakr.' I said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Then Omar.'
