البَحْرُthe seaشَيْئًاa thingأَبَدًاever
The sea is never a thing.
وَمِثْلُand likeهَذِهِthisالصِّيغَةُformulaيُؤْتَىis broughtبِهَاwith itلِلْمُبَالَغَةِfor exaggerationفِيinعَدَمِnotالنَّقْصِdeficiency
And such a formula is brought for exaggeration in the absence of deficiency.
لِأَنَّbecauseعَدَمَthe absenceنَقْصٍof deficiencyالبَحْرِthe seaفِيinمِثْلِsuchهَذِهِthisالصُّورَةِimageأَمْرٌmatterمَعْلُومٌknown
Because the absence of deficiency in the sea in such an image is a known matter.
مُسْتَحِيلٌimpossibleأَنْthatالبَحْرَthe seaيَنْقُصَdecreasesبِهَذَاby this
It is impossible for the sea to decrease by this.
فَمُسْتَحِيلٌso it is impossibleأَيْضًاalsoأَنْthatاللَّهَGodعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe AlmightyيَنْقُصَdecreasesمُلْكَهُHis kingdomإِذَاifقَامَall stand upكُلُّallإنْسَانٍhumanمِنَofالْإِنْسِmankindوَالْجِّنِّand jinnفَقَامُواthen they stood upفَسَأَلُواand they askedاللَّهَGodتَعَالَىthe exaltedفَأَعْطَىthen He givesكُلَّeveryإنْسَانٍhumanمَسْأَلَتَهُhis requestمَاwhatنَقَصَdecreasedذَلِكَthatمِنَofمُلْكِهِHis kingdomشَيْئًاa thing
So it is also impossible for God, the Almighty, to decrease His kingdom if all humans of mankind and jinn stand, and then ask God the Exalted, and He gives every human his request without that decreasing anything from His kingdom.
لَاdo notتَقُلْsayنَعَمَyesلَاnotيَنْقُصُdecreasesمِنْfromمُلْكِهِHis kingdomشَيْئًاa thingلِأَنَّهُbecauseاُنتُقِلَtransferredمِنْfromمُلْكِهِHis kingdomإِلَىtoمُلْكِهِHis kingdomلِأَنَّهُbecauseلَاnotيُمْكِنُcanأَنْthatيَكُونَbeهَذَاthisهُوَisالْمُرَادُintendedلِأَنَّهُbecauseلَوْifكَانَwasهَذَاthisالْمُرَادُintended
Do not say: 'Yes; it does not decrease from His kingdom anything; because it was transferred from His kingdom to His kingdom; because it cannot be this intended; because if it were intended, the talking would be futile and nonsense.'
لَكِنَّbutالْمَعْنَىthe meaningلَوْifفُرِضَassumedأَنْthatهَذِهِtheseالْعَطَايَاgiftsالْعَظِيمَةُgreatأُعْطِيَتْwere givenعَلَىonأَنْهَاthat theyخَارِجَةٌare outsideعَنْofمُلْكِthe kingdomاللَّهِGodلَمْdid notيَنْقُصْdecreaseذَلِكَthatمِنْofمُلْكِهِHis kingdomشَيْئًاa thing
But the meaning is: if it is assumed that these great gifts were given as if they were outside of God's kingdom; that would not decrease anything from His kingdom.
وَلَوْand ifكَانَwasالْمَعْنَىthe meaningهُوَisالأوَّلُthe firstلَمْnotيَكُنْbeفِيهِin itفَائِدَةٌbenefitفَمَعْرُوفٌand it is knownأَنَّهُthatلَوْifكَانَwasعِندَكَwith youعَشَرَةٌtenرِيَالَاتٌriyalأَخْرَجْتَهَاyou took it outمِنْfromالدَّرْجِdrawerالأَيْمَنِrightإِلَىtoالدَّرْجِdrawerالأَيْسَرِleftوَقَالَand someone saidإِنَّthatمَالَكَyour moneyلَمْnotيَنْقُصْdecreaseلَقِيلَit would be saidهَذَاthisلَغْوٌnonsenseمِنَofالْقَوْلِsaying
And if the meaning is the first; then there would be no benefit in it; for it is known that if you had ten riyals, and you took it out from the right drawer to the left drawer, and someone said that your money did not decrease, it would be said: this is nonsense of the saying!
المُهِمُّthe importantأَنْis thatالْمَعْنَىthe meaningلَوْifأَنْthatهَذَاthisالَّذِيwhichأُعْطِيَwas given to himالسَّائِلِينthe questionersخَارِجَةٌoutsideعَنْofمُلْكِهِHis kingdomفَإِنَّهُthen itلَاnotيَنْقُصُهُdecreases himسُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىthe Glorified and Exaltedوَلَيْسَand notإِنْفَاقٌthe spendingاللَّهGodتَعَالَىthe Exalted
The important thing is that the meaning is: if what was given to the questioners is outside of His kingdom; then it does not decrease Him, the Glorified and Exalted.
بَلْbutكُلُّallمَاwhatبَنَاwe haveمِنْofنِعْمَةٍblessingفَهُوَit isمِنْfromاللَّهِGodتَعَالَىthe Exaltedسَوَاءٌwhetherكَانَتْwasمِنْofنِعَمِgracesالدِّينِthe religionأَمْorالدُّنْيَاthe worldlyفَذَرَّاتُso the particlesالْمَطَرِof rainمِنْofإِنْفَاقِspendingاللَّهِGodعَلَيْنَاupon usوَحَبَّاتُand the grainsالنَّبَاتِof plantsمِنْofإِنْفَاقِspendingاللَّهِGod
But all that we have of blessing is from God, the Exalted, whether it be of the blessings of religion or of this world; for the particles of rain are from the spending of God upon us, and the grains of the plants are from the spending of God.
