وَٱلْجَوَابُ:And the answer:بَلَىٰIndeed,نُحِبُّwe loveذَٰلِكَ؛that;فَإِذَاso ifكُنَّاwe wereنُحِبُّwe loveأَنthatيَغْفِرَHe forgivesٱللَّهُAllahلَنَا؛to us;فَلْنَتَعَرَّضْthen let us exposeلِأَسْبَابِto the reasonsٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ.forgiveness.

And the answer: Indeed, we love that; so if we love that Allah forgives us, then let us expose ourselves to the reasons for forgiveness.

ثُمَّThenقَالَ:he said:﴿(وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌis Forgivingرَّحِيمٌand Merciful.)::﴿(غَفُورٌForgivingهَـٰذِهِThisإِمَّاis eitherأَنْ تَكُونَto beاسْمًاa nounفَاعِلٍof the doerلِلْمُبَالَغَةِ،for emphasis,وَإِمَّاor it isأَنْ تَكُونَto beصِفَةًan adjectiveمُشَبَّهَةً؛that is similar;

Then he said: (And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.) This is either to be a noun of the doer for emphasis, or it is an adjective that is similar;

فَإِذَاIfكَانَتْit wasصِفَةًan adjectiveمُشَبَّهَةً؛that is similar;فَهِيَthen it isدَالَّةًindicativeعَلَىofٱلْوَصْفِthe descriptionٱللاَّزِمِthe necessaryٱلثَّابِتِ،the established,هَـٰذَاthis isهُوَisمُقْتَضَىthe consequence ofٱلصَّنْفِtypeٱلْمُشَبَّهَةِ،that is similar,وَإِن كَانَتْand if it wasاسْمًاa nameفَاعِلٍof the doerمُحَوَّلًاturnedإِلَىintoصِيغَةٍformٱلتَّكْثِيرِ؛of abundance;

So if it is an adjective that is similar; then it is indicative of the necessary established description, and if it is a noun of the doer turned into the form of abundance;

كَانَتْit wasدَالَّةًindicativeعَلَىofوُقُوعِthe occurrenceٱلْمَغْفِرَةِof forgivenessمِنَfromٱللَّهِAllahبِكَثْرَةٍ.abundantly.

it was indicative of the occurrence of forgiveness from Allah abundantly.

وَبَعْدَAnd afterهَذَاthisنَقُولُ :we say:إِنَّهَاIndeed, it isجَامِعَةٌinclusiveبَيْنَbetweenٱلْأَمْرَيْنِ،the two matters,فَهِيَit isصِفَةٌan adjectiveمُشَبَّهَةٌ؛that is similar;لِأَنَّbecauseٱلْمَغْفِرَةَforgivenessصِفَةٌis a descriptionدَائِمَةٌpermanentلِلَّهِfor Allahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and MajesticوَهِيَAnd it isأَيْضًاalsoفِعْلٌan actionيَقَعُthat occursبِكَثْرَةٍ؛abundantly;فَمَاSo how muchأَكْثَرَmoreمَغْفِرَةًforgivenessٱللَّهُAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّ!the Exalted and Majestic!

And after this, we say: Indeed, it is inclusive of both matters, it is an adjective that is similar; because forgiveness is a permanent description for Allah the Exalted and Majestic, and it is also an action that occurs abundantly; So how much more forgiveness Allah the Exalted and Majestic offers!

وَقَوْلُهُ:And His saying:﴿(تَحِيمُis Merciful)) ::هَذِهِThisأَيْضًاalsoاسْمٌis a nounفَاعِلٌof the doerمُحَوَّلٌ إِلَىturned intoصِيغَةِformٱلْمُبَالَغَةِ،of emphasis,وَأَصْلُand the originاسْمِa nameٱلْفَاعِلِof the doerمِنَfromرَحْمَRahm (womb),رَاحِمٍ،doer (the compassionate),لَكِنَّbutحُوِّلَتْconvertedإِلَىintoرَحِيمٍMercifulلِكَثْرَةِdue to the abundanceرَحْمَةِof mercyٱللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّ.the Exalted and Majestic.

And His saying: (is Merciful) is also a noun of the doer turned into the form of emphasis, and the origin of the noun of the doer is from Rahm (womb), but it has been converted into Merciful due to the abundance of mercy from Allah the Exalted and Majestic.

وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahسُبْحَانَهُthe Blessedوَتَعَالَىand Exalted::يَقْرِنُHe linksبَيْنَbetweenهَذَيْنِthese twoٱلْأَسْمَائِ؛names;لِأَنَّهُمَاbecause theyدَالَّانِare indicativeعَلَىofمَعْنَىًa meaningمُتَشَابِهٍ؛that is similar;فَفِيFor inٱلْمَغْفِرَةِforgivenessزَوَالٍremovalٱلْمَكْرُوبِof the afflictedوَآثَارٍand the effectsٱلذَّنْبِ،of sins,وَفِيand inٱلرَّحْمَةِthe mercyحُصُولٍacquisitionٱلْمَطْلُوبِ؛of that which is desired;

And Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, links between these two names; because they are indicative of a similar meaning; For in forgiveness is the removal of the afflicted and the effects of sins, and in mercy is the acquisition of that which is desired;

كَمَاAsقَالَHe saidٱللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Exaltedلِلْجَنَّةِ:to Paradise:«أَنتَYou areرَحْمَتِيMy mercy;أَرْحَمُI have mercyبِكَwith youمِنَofأَشَاءَ(۱).whom I will.” (1)

As Allah the Exalted said about Paradise: "You are My mercy; I have mercy with you whom I will.” (1)
