لأَنَّهُBecause it isالْغَنِيُّthe richعَمَّfrom whatسِواهُis other than Him
Because it is the rich above what is other than Him.
أَوْلَىThis is prior
This is prior.
وَإِذَاAnd ifانْتَفَىit is negatedاتِّخَاذِهِHis takingالْوَلَدَ؛a child;فَانْتِفَاءُthen the negationأَنْthatيَكُونَit beوَالِدًاa father.
And if His taking a child is negated; then the negation of His being a father is also valid.
مِنْFromبَابِthe aspect of
From the aspect of.
وَقَوْلُهُAnd His sayingهُوَisمِنْofإِلَٰهِGod:إِلَٰهِGod;بِمَعْنَىmeaningمَأْلُوهٍ؛worshiped;مِثْلَlikeبِنَاءٍ؛building;بِمَعْنَىmeaningمَبْنِيٍّ،built,وَفِرَاشٍ؛and bedding;بِمَعْنَىmeaningمَفْرُوشٍ؛furnished;فَالإِلَٰهُSo, Godبِمَعْنَىmeaningالْمَأْلُوهِ؛the worshiped;أَيi.e.,الْمَعْبُودِthe one worshipedالْمُتَذَلِّلِwho is humbledلَهُto Him.
And His saying: He is God; meaning: the worshiped; like a building; meaning: built, and bedding; meaning: furnished; thus God means the worshiped; i.e., the one worshiped who is humbled to Him.
يَعْنِيThis means:مَاwhatكَانَwasمَعَهُwith Himمِنْofإِلَٰهِ حَقٍّ،true God,أَمَّاAs forالْآلِهَةِthe godsالْبَاطِلَةِ؛the false ones;فَهِيَthey areمَوْجُودَةٌ،present,لَكِنbutلِكَوْنِهَاdue to their beingبَاطِلَةً؛false;كَانَتْthey wereكَالْعَدَمِ؛like nothing;فَصَحَSo, it is validأَنْthatيُقَالُ:it is said:مَاwhatكَانَwasمَعَwithاللَّهِGodمِنْofإِلَٰهٍa God.
This means: what was with Him of true God, as for the false gods; they are present, but due to their being false; they were like nothing; so it is valid to say: what was with God of a God.
هُوَHe isإِذَاif
He is if;
كَيْفَlike;يَعْنِيmeaningلَوْifكَانَwasمَعَهُwith Himإِلَٰهٌa God.
if there was with Him a God.
لَذَهَبَthere would goكُلُّeveryإِلَهٍdeityبِمَاwith whatخَلَقَHe createdوَلَعَلَاand they would riseبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىoverبَعْضٍeach other;لَوْifكَانَwasهُنَاكَthere isإِلَٰهٌGodآخَرٌanotherيُسَاوِيequalsاللَّهَGodعَزَّ وَجَلَّ؛the Almighty;لَكَانَthere would beلَهُfor Himمَلَكٌa kingdomخَاصٌّspecific;وَلِلَّهِand for Godمَلَكٌa kingdomخَاصٌ؛specific;يَعْنِي؛meaning;لَانْفَرَدَfor each one to be separateكُلُّeachوَاحِدٌone of themمِنْهُمْof themبِمَاwith whatخَلَقَ؛He created;قَالَHe said:هَذَاthisخَلْقِيis my creationلِي،for me,وَكذلكand likewiseالْآخَرُ.the other.
there would go every deity with what He created and they would rise above each other; if there were another God equal to God the Almighty; there would be for Him a specific kingdom and for God a specific kingdom; meaning: for each one of them to separate with what He created; He said: this is my creation for me, and likewise the other.
وَحِينَئِذٍAnd at that time;يُرِيدُeach one desiresكُلُّeachمِنْهُمَاof themأَنْtoيَسْتَأْثِرَdominateعَلَىonالْآخَرِ؛the other;فَمُلُوكُSo the kingsالدُّنْيَاthe worldكُلُّeachوَاحِدٌoneمِنْهُمْof themيُرِيدُwantsأَنْtoيَسْتَأْثِرَdominateعَلَىoverالْآخَرِ،the other,وَتَكُونَand there beالْمَمْلَكَةُthe kingdomكُلُّهَاallلَهُ،for him,وَحِينَئِذٍAnd then;إِمَّاeitherأَنْthatيَتَكَامَلَانِ،they obstruct one another,فَيَعْجِزُthen each is unableكُلُّeachوَاحِدٌoneمِنْهُمَاof themعَنْaboutالْآخَرِ؛the other;وَإِذَاAnd ifعَجَزَone is incapableكُلُّeachوَاحِدٌoneمِنْهُمَاof themعَنْaboutالْآخَرِ؛the other;مَاwhatصَحَّIt is validأَنْthatيَكُونَthere beوَاحِدٌoneمِنْهُمَاof them;إِلَٰهًا؛a God;لَأَنَّbecauseالإِلَٰهَthe Godلَاdoes notيَكُونَisعَاجِزًا.unable.
And at that time; each one desires to dominate the other; so the kings of the world; each one of them wants to dominate the other, and there be all the kingdom for him, and then; they either obstruct one another, then each is incapable of the other; and if each one of them is unable to the other; then it is valid that there be one of them a God; because the God does not be unable.
